^ Yep. George was 29 in S2, as well. So he's going to be 34 in S7. There hasn't ever been an indication of Julia's age. I would guess she's supposed to be about 3 or so years younger than William. She's older than George, I think.

to Melodypond 101 and to hannikan: thank you so much for your well-founded answers! I just have to watch again the episodes you spoke about

I hope they do less murder cases, but other crimes too. I particularly enjoyed watching the bank robbery investigation in "The Kissing Bandit", even though someone did die later on in the episode. There were also the episodes with Brackenreid's son and the French girl, who both got kidnapped.

In 20th C Murdoch no one was murdered either. Gideon Turner died accidentally during the freezing experiment and Dr. Roberts was cryogenically frozen, but still technically alive. In Murdoch in Toyland Gillies tried to kill Julia, but she was rescued, too. There will probably always be a few where no actual murder takes place.

Well Gillies partner did get his head sawn off in Toyland

Right... Robert Perry. He got on my nerves in Big Murderer on Campus.

Yeah, that's true. I forgot about that. I thought he was kind of good looking actually. They were both annoying though.

Now you mention it, he was kind of good looking. Looking back, I never really noticed/thought much of Gillies in s2. He was quite different from what he was in s5 and s6. I would have never suspected his return in s5 and the role he now plays in the series.

In an interview, Maureen Jennings said that the Toronto in the TV series, and in the books, is very unrealistic when it comes to depicting Victorian-era crime.
She said that in actuality, Toronto was a very peaceful city. Crime, especially major crimes, was rare. You might get a murder once or twice a year in the 1880s-1910s period. The whole "murder every week" phenomenon, as she put it, is strictly for the TV show. Real-life Toronto of the same period never had nearly as much crime.

Yeah, Toronto had the least crime of all cities in North America as I understand it. But in order to make a TV show murder mystery show work, it had to be in this format. There is a bit of tongue-in-cheek element in the TV show that there wasn't in the books, too. There are lots of winks to contemporary pop culture in addition to incorporating historically accurate elements from the time period. I don't think each episode is actually a week apart. I think they are supposed to be a few weeks apart, but that's still more frequent than there would have been murders then, or even now. Great photos, RKB! Are William and Julia looking at pirates buried treasure?

(Sorry. The quote thing confuses me)
I think it was actually a snake in there. I also think the recent spiders and snakes in filming might be for 'Murdochophobia".
They're filming at a beach today and have been recently too. Anyone think this might be for 'Loch Ness Murdoch'?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that is a snake. I bet you Julia won't mind it, but the boys will be terrified. Especially Brackenreid.

Hmmm, a snake would be awfully similar to Evil Eye of Egypt, but maybe. Yes, I think the beach episode is likely to be the Loch Ness Monster episode. Probably some kind of attack at the beach on a lovely day at the fair... #HeleneJoy demonstrates her parasol-balancing skills on our beach day! #murdochmysteries http://instagram.com/p/b1SYD3BDuc It takes a village... #MurdochMysteries #behindthescenes pic.twitter.com/jajyqkRWQV It's a hot one! A couple more... It was 30C+ degrees on set but Yannick kept cool and calm. #CBC#MurdochMysteries pic.twitter.com/1Nue2JTGMy That's not a swimsuit, William! Same to you, George!
