Hi. I'm from Illinois, USA. Started watching Murdoch Mysteries on Ovation. Instantly became addicted to the show!! Love the characters and story lines. Shows seem to have a little bit of everything which truly make them enjoyable. Ended up buying Seasons 1 through 6. Wish I could get Season 7! It probably won't be released for quite awhile. So, I'll keep watching and re watching Seasons 1-6 until it's available!!!

There was some sort of missed connection in the US. Murdoch Mysteries would have been very popular here - especially if some commonly held channel spammed daily reruns to create an army of addicts before airing the new episodes. SyFy has had huge success with this method. I was also wondering if PBS might pick it up. That's how a whole generation was introduced to British science fiction like Dr. Who, Blakes 7, and Red Dwarf. PBS also has an interest in recruiting younger viewers. If they are willing to pony up the bucks for Sherlock, they could pay for Murdoch Mysteries. Ovation is a really obscure network. Some major cable providers have dropped them all together, and satellite packages only include Ovation in their most expensive packages. Ovation might have advertised Murdoch Myteries more as a way of increasing it's own presence - but they don't seem to do a darned thing to make their presence known. It does not help at all that they renamed it "The Artful Detective": now even people who somehow caught on to Murdoch Mysteries being promoted in other countries WON'T BE ABLE TO FIND IT in the U.S.!!! Anyway, I think Murdoch Mysteries was robbed in terms of U.S. distribution. I also only discovered it this year because I accidentally caught it on Ovation while I was house-sitting for someone wealthy enough to afford high-end TV packages. I like to think I'm pretty well plugged in to pop culture, but I had never heard of Murdoch Mysteries before. I would have been watching it YEARS AGO if it had been placed in my path. It's just not easily discoverable in the US. Btw, I was wondering if they are invited to US science fiction conventions. If so, I'm surprised buzz never started via the steampunk cosplay underground railroad. ADDENDUM: You might want to check out Season 6 before you commit yourself to being a Darcy fan!

Interesting coincidence: Ovation tweeted earlier today, inviting viewers to get "addicted" to The Artful Detective:
Are you addicted to The Artful Detective yet? Watch an all-new episode tonight at 8 ET/5 PT!Note the lack of hashtags.
Ovation dudes. This tweet is in the wrong place. Your Ovation twitter followers already know what's playing on Ovation. What you need to do is present this information somewhere where *potential* viewers might see it. At least hashtag this pitiful lonely announcement.
But really - try venturing out a little and post in places that fans of cult TV and costume dramas hang out. What about forum for aspiring mystery writers? The fans are out there. You're just not trying hard enough to reach them.
Idea: Murdoch trying to get his hat back would make a great simple "flappy bird" type game...

Wait - is everyone here female?! I've seen some guys hanging around, but fandoms in general tend to favor the females. Is that why every post is about "she" and "her", instead of being gender neutral?

*Quietly crawls away in shame yet again* You win this time ... *Cries* I made the same mistake. XD I'm a bigger fan of Jane Austen than I am of MM, and Darcy Garland was the 2nd name that came to mind. Fitzwilliam Darcy came first.
