Oops I meant Mask of Sanity. D:
Dr. Roberts used some French term for it. But I suppose if the mask itself makes you a crazycakes Victorian Hypocrite, then that's a Mask of Insanity? XD
I watched Belly Speaker last night, and William SAW a ghost. Really, he is a hypocrite for the way he treats George's beliefs.

William not only saw the ghost in "Bellyspeaker", what about his near death experience in "Staircase to Heaven".
***
It occurs to me that George's impressive powers of observation could lead him to make some kind of comment about the magic homburg to Brackenreid or Henry.

If George were to borrow the homburg, would he acquire it's powers?

No. Like Harry Potter's wand, others can use it for its usual purpose but the magic is specific to William.

Perhaps, but I think it more likely that his uniform jacket or shirt holds the magic. I mean his greatest ideas and forays into the fantastic happen when he's in uniform. Although I think he's actually a more dapper dresser than William.

Actually I don't think he had much to worry about standing next to worry about, standing next to Leslie Garland. It kind of rests on whether his date likes a man that can make funny faces.

George needs a woman who is a balance of the traditional and new woman. After all, he notices everything, has considerable knowledge about shoes and bath oils, and is an excellent gift wrapper. He is very loveable and I for one, am willing to wait until a woman worthy of him catches his eye. Much as I like Emily, she has proven herself to be somewhat shallow where men are concerned.

George is the epitome of a teddy bear. I think he needs more unqualified reassurance than Emily can provide (she's mainly about judgment), and I think he probably does need to be more on the same socio-economic level because he wants to show the girl a good time. He wants her to be impressed by those little presents - the food, the bath oils, a pretty ribbon. Also Emily may be too cerebral: though George appreciates clever women, I think he's also impressed by women of action (in the Tess sense).

Well said. The socio-economic factor is a much bigger one for George than for William. That is one of the reasons why the George-Emily ship has never worked for me. The scene where George came to cheer Emily on at the croquet match was quite humiliating for him .

I was making a joke so I said insanity. You're right about him being a hypocrite. There was at least one time he told George not to stare at naked paintings or photos or whatever but then he did so himself. I like that he's a hypocrite though. Shows he's human and not some kind of God like entity.

Also, I could swear there was some point in time that Emily said she was from a working class family and was in fact not wealthy like Julia. Obviously Emily would have still had to come from a fairly well to do family or have a highly respected father or something like that in order to have the connections to become a doctor. Unless they had scholarships back then?
The only reason Emily had a membership to the club was because of her fiance. Oh wait! That's the reason I thought she wasn't wealthy. Doesn't her ex say something like, "You should be thanking me for elevating your status!"
But I don't like them together either. She's always been too cold for me. She knows she's cold. That's the reason she became a coroner.

Shows he's human and not some kind of God like entity. Oh did I? Probably because I was multitasking and preparing to go out for an appointment. Let's split the difference and call it Mask of Hypocrisy! I agree that the hypocrisy is the sort of character flaw that makes William more human, sort of like finding phone sex messages on Mulder's answering machine on the X-Files. It's all the more humanizing for the audience to be in on it but to realize William isn't, just like he isn't in on certain "waves of the future".
