Murdoch is invited to attend a mysterious meeting in High Park. With Ogden to accompany him they find themselves mixing with some of city's greatest minds at a meeting of the Toronto Society for The Advancement of Eugenics, lead by James Pendrick. Murdoch discovers that Sally Pendrick invited him. The guest speaker is none other than the great science fiction writer HG Wells, and beside him stands Ruby Ogden, Julia's younger sister.

What??? I expected this episode to have some discussion!
Another ep a day!
1. I don't even know what to say about the animal husbandry conversation! WHY did William have places he needed to be, WHY! There must have been extracurricular activities going on between these two at this point.
2. I love how William thinks the public would find crime "dull".
3. It was fun to see George investigate the dogs. & not to mention he's pretty hilarious with Ruby. I think these two make a better match than any of the others they've tried to pair him with.
4. I was not a fan of how forward Wells was with Julia.
5. I don't know why I didn't find Sally super shady the first time I watched these episodes. Clearly she's got a lot to hide.

I know I'm in the minority, but Ruby irritates me, so I'm rather glad she hasn't resurfaced.....

I know I'm in the minority, but Ruby irritates me, so I'm rather glad she hasn't resurfaced..... She really irritated me initially and I didn't like her at all! Now I'm pretty fond of her.

Most of the early season eps were seeded and never developed discussion. I had a project a few months ago where I tried to fill some in, but I didn't get to all of them. I think this is a great episode in terms of addressing issues that were truly "on deck" during that time period. I would have liked to have seen more related ones. Jilliam fans find this ep melancholy in retrospect because it seems this is the one where Julia recognizes William wants children and she starts to realize there is no future for them.
