She's recently created an account. Just thought some of you might want to know. Hopefully the hordes of tweets don't scare her off.

Helene made the most marvelous remark about how you need publicity to get work, but Canada doesn't have a star system so it's hard to get publicity. It looks like she finally figured out the most painful soul-destroying truth of contemporary times: you have to publicize yourself.

No matter how much you hate doing it. Even if Mommy told you only Bad Girls draw attention to themselves. Even if you get a weird icky feeling of upsetting the Cosmic Balance if you talk about yourself too much. Even if you're afraid that one day posting a Selfie will go tragically wrong and you will have to petition Google to forget you.

If you're in a professional field where you need other people to know about you, talk about you, and buy what you produce - you need to let those people know you exist first. And there's no longer a unilateral bullhorn with which to impose your presence on them. You have to talk to people first. You have to extend a hand of friendship and let them know about you.

From what I've seen in working with the small fry in this situation, it's really, really, really hard. I could never do it myself.

But Yannick does an awesome job. I have his Twitter feed bookmarked partly so I can learn from him. Helene can learn from him, too. I just hope he reads The Circle by David Eggers so he doesn't lose his soul to the whole process.

She's doing great and already has a good number of followers.   She has a new hashtag category...#thingsjuliawouldsay. I like that! It's  a good one, actually.

One of the things I like about Yannick's Twitter is how snarky he is with the hashtags. He's better than I am at that stuff. I suspect he picked that up from his daughters. I hope he's giving Helene some good Yoda-like advice.

Felt really good about twitting. On the 26th of January one of my tweets that I sent to Yannick was favoured by the man himself and then on 05 Feburary I had one favoured by Helene. Even though I did not get a personlised answer from either of them it just goes to show that they read my tweets.

Congratulations! Yannick and the whole crew are really responsive to the audience on Twitter. Sometimes you will get a personalized answer!
