I totally agree. I was watching SotWS again earlier ( per our discussion) and William is more himself around Anna-as though he's not as nervous around her. There's definitely a chemistry between them, and I'm starting to believe that William has a lot of fun with her, but he knows she's not the one for him. William and Julia are two nerds in love, and they can totally geek out around one another and get one another. Anna, I think would tolerate his eccentricities, but I don't think she'd ever get them or even share in them. Julia wants to explore and be a part of the world with William, Anna will just passively enjoy the ride. William seems to hold himself back around Julia, almost as if he's afraid the true William will scare her off-something he doesn't want to do, so he behaves himself. Julia, on the other hand, it's dying to get at that William-try as he might to hide it, she can smell it, and she wants it -even to the point where she's baiting him big time during season 7. I agree, much as Anna would like the relationship to go somewhere for William she will always be second best. He has more of an intellectual romance with Julia and that's where William is comfortable, unfortunately for Julia, who I think would prefer him to be more like he is with Anna. I doubt Julia would be scared off if he became the real William, I'm thinking she'd find it quite a turn on, she's been trying to bring it out for years. Though she did have a taste of it with the absinthe ... hmm ... perhaps he was too much for her and that's why she poured cold water on his desires and now she's regretting it as he took it to heart. Dr. Tash did say she was a pistol! Thats it! Julia needs to find a way to get William drunk. That unleashes hidden William, and that's why William doesn't drink-it's his kryptonite!

Dr. Tash did say she was a pistol! The Green Muse Don Juan thing could have been Julia's fantasy. Really, the only proof we have is that William apologized for being tardy in "expressing his feelings" the next day, and they were on intimate enough terms to start kissing as sweethearts.

where angry Julia finds out he's been with Anna, but not with her. Or, perhaps where Julia just gets so frustrated that she decides to prey upon William. 1) Ouch!!!! 2) prey?

Yes, this is odd considering William chose Julia over Enid because Julia was the more "passionate" one. And Julia wants those passions from William. And William was envious of Darcy being able to arouse passions in Julia. Is this a Green Muse trigger? I mentioned above that I had the passing thought that it may not have actually gone that far, but perhaps William is afraid of losing that kind of control again? Where Julia has to ask him to stop? In speaking of SotWS, I wonder if Julia has a tattoo? If she found out it got William excited she'd get one yesterday. Perhaps you could write a fic about it, but if the tat is of an ouroboros, so help me....

The above thoughts actually puts a different spin on The Green Muse (including all our questions on why it went no further): what if it didn't actually go that far? William was drunk, and absinthe is supposed to have hallucinogenic properties. What if William imagined part of it, mentally converting a little kissing into a general loss of control on his part? That would also make a bit more sense of Julia's later remark about him not being the only one to live in his head. That remark always seemed a little off-kilter to me. But perhaps she was re-assuring him that not much actually happened that night, but that she knew he was imagining more because she did, too. Oh, I think it happened and I also think that Julia was living inside her head, up to that point. They allowed the alcohol to take over and she realized what had been unleashed. Btw, I've seen that first kiss several times recently and I have to say what a lovely sweet, tentative kiss it was, just perfect!

It's become a fanfic cliche, but in this case it's quite apt-William really is the ultimate "buttoned up detective" , the immaculate suit, pomaded hair so it's never out of place, crisp white shirts, the vest, the cuff links, the hat, is so polished, that William will often "outgentleman" (if that's a word) the native gentlemen. Julia on the other hand, having grown up with those men, is probably bored with it, and loves that William's a bit rough under all that spit and polish. She likes how William can be the well composed escort to various polite functions, and become the rough logger of her fantasies behind closed doors-or so goes her fantasy-if she can ever crack that exterior. She better watch out or she will end up with a cheesy mustache! haha, remember Sam's line about "Don't look at the bookshelves!"
Help me, which line? *is confused*

As soon as the hat, jacket, vest and tie come off the real William escapes so he needs to keep everything buttoned up tight. Somewhere is a thread where I stated that the tie is a leash of sorts.

Don't you dare try to make that scene a fantasy! It's just that it was drunk!William. Therefore, Julia has figured out that she needs to get a few drinks in him. Plus, he's comfortable with kissing her because they almost done sex!

They both had this nervous "are we really going to do this?" look of awe just before she closed the gap.

That's a good point, and why I'd like to see something shocking about William's past this season.

It was started by the wine industry when drinking absinthe became popular. They wanted to scare people off as they weren't drinking enough wine for the wineries liking.

The original Profiler woman was always claiming to be "living in her head".

Note her comment at the end of Dead End Street.
