This Reading List ought to keep you busy for a while! www.oddsalon.com/category/reading-lists/I kind of wish I could go to the actual salons, but it's a big hassle to go into the city. Maybe if I start working there and have to commute anyway, though...

Ahh, what the hey - gonna make a plug. *grin* I'm part of a Steampunk community in the virtual world of Second Life (that's where my icon picture on here comes from). Once a month (except in the summer), we have a Salon, in which someone will come and talk about a particular topic. Some topics are very Second Life-centric, some are very community-centric, but some are definitely Victorian-era-centric, and so might be of interest to folks here. The transcripts are at aethersalon.blogspot.com/ - you can look at the right-hand sidebar for topics of interest.

They have so many conventions - MM reps should have been touring these and working the same principles that built up sci fi fandom. This has been a big marketing fail on the part of MM - sorry my opinion is not humble on that one.
