It seems Miss (Mrs.?) Hamilton exists in Ajax as well. We had a big kerfuffle this winter about a skating rink in someone's front yard. It even made the news and The Toronto Star. The parents just wanted to have a rink for the kids to play on, but apparently some neighbour complained and it turns out the boards used to hold the ice in qualify as a "structure", which is against the bylaws. The Station House 4 gentlemen should have come along for a game of shinny. Oh my, so much for the kid's lemonade stands in the summer. Time for your city council to put some bylaws to rest...

When Murdoch Mysteries was in Cambridge to shoot the wedding last summer, apparently Miss Hamilton was a stow-away and stayed in town. She's alive and well and is now a city councilor. There's a big 'thing" going on in the old city core with regards to "busking". A young lady was ticketed for singing outside a store in downtown Galt/Cambridge so there's a push on now at City Hall to cover it under a by-law. But one councilor (who I suspect is the reincarnated Miss Hamilton), stated (and I quote from the local newspaper): “Busking is a very good thing to have, but there could be some negatives,” she said.
***** is concerned some people might use busking as a cover for aggressive soliciting. “The prostitutes that are downtown could start singing,” she said."Seriously, if you ever saw the downtown core (other than the lovely spots they manage to film in MM) you'd know that singing dollymops would be an improvement!!!! Julia please comeback! someone in town needs to be clothes-lined again!! We have a word for that in the US: "Concern Troll".

From PM on fb this evening: I thought this season has had murder, laughter and romance. Murder every week. A marriage, an illicit affair, a possible proposal, a whoopee cushion, a car chase, etc... I think he's missed the point! Actually, I think he's deliberately missed the point!! Time for us to start demanding absolutely NO Jilliam as he thinks the writers shouldn't give fans what they want. I agree with him that a show shouldn't give the fans everything they want, but I do think that it should give them some of those things. Jilliam is something the fans fell in love with, and deliberately withholding that is crippling the show, IMO. A possible proposal? So now that George has been promoted, he'll propose to Edna now? I'm still holding out hope that he's trolling us in order to protect a major plot curve that he hopes we'll never see coming. Mind you, I'm not holding it that deeply.

Yeah, let's hope he's trolling and hold his cards close to his vest. lol at the laundry list of random plot points from the Student's Guide to Writing TV Plots. "Possible Proposal" is a good question.

They haven't moved on to George and Edna for romance, Edna is barely in MM. We have had romance moments with W/J this season, the biggest being they got married. I would love more and I don't like them not having any scenes in an episode, but to suggest they aren't the main romance anymore is not being factual.
S8 hasn't been great in general, but we have had W/J, in fact we've had some nice romantic scenes with them. And we have two more episodes to get some more before S8 ends. Hopefully we'll get more W/J scenes in S9, but it's not like they aren't still the romantic centre of MM. George/Edna, Emily/Lillian, Brackenreid/Mrs Brackenreid barely appear on the show, so they can't come close to competing with W/J.
And as for Emily/Lilian being called an 'illict affair', that seriously doesn't bode well for them lasting past the next two episodes.

And as for Emily/Lilian being called an 'illict affair', that seriously doesn't bode well for them lasting past the next two episodes. Probably not. I think we've all been predicting a sad end for Lillian. But that said, lesbian affairs were illicit in the early 20th century. So not necessarily. Post wedding, there's been more Emily/Lillian and George/Edna than there has William/Julia. Seriously, we had a parting shot of Emily pushing Lillian onto a bed-that's pretty racy when you stop and really think about it. No doubt about it, they done had sex. We had Edna inviting George over for "tea" while telling him that Simon was staying with a relative. If that ain't code for getting laid, I don't know what is. I think both of those scenes were pretty passionate. Post-wedding, we've had William and Julia as roomies. Yes, there's been a couple of sweet scenes, but nothing I would describe as passionate. W/J have definitely been missing the second 2/3 of the season, but I'm holding out hope for the last two eps of this season as well as next season. I'm also holding out hope that we get a major plot twist in these last two eps that pulls this discontinuity together for this season.

The only thing I can say is your idea of romance is different to everyone else's. Yes, we've had the wedding and honeymoon but the marriage has been all but ignored since then and what bits we have seen haven't been my idea of romantic. Sure they've had scenes together but non that I would class as romantic. Sorry, sitting talking to a priest is NOT romantic, working on a murder case in an asylum is NOT romantic. There was one scene that was somewhat leading to romance but was cut short by hot chocolate and a corset, I'll give you that one. We don't expect romance every week, we don't even expect to see Julia every week. We just want them to act like a newly married couple for a few episodes. Unfortunately that ship has now sailed as by next season they'll be celebrating their first anniversary and it's all downhill from there!

Totally agree with you Fallenbelle. Giving fans nothing is a surefire way to lose them. You give fans just enough to keep them coming back looking for more. This season W/J shippers have had nothing to come back for since the honeymoon, they've given up hope. It wouldn't surprise me if some don't come back next season.

And as for Emily/Lilian being called an 'illict affair', that seriously doesn't bode well for them lasting past the next two episodes. Particularly the word "affair" vs. "relationship". Aw. Hey, wait - maybe George and Edna are the illicit affair! They were keeping their relationship secret from Simon and Edna's husband may still be alive That's my story and I'm sticking with it...

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if the writers were hoping to keep the William looking "virginal" after his marriage as a sort of running in-joke. This would be underscored by the hot chocolate interruption and building stuff in the honeymoon suite. On the other hand they did show him in bed with Julia. Hmm, not sure.

Unfortunately that ship has now sailed as by next season they'll be celebrating their first anniversary and it's all downhill from there! Yes this the demoralizing part. There is only one "honeymoon period". No do-overs here.
