Ooh now we know what Julia thinks: "stubborn and virtuous"! (except for those pervy moments...) William also calls Julia stubborn. What would the other adjective be? "stubborn and...______________" independent, intelligent, beautiful, sexy...

Ooooooh, I think this means the story will stick to the influences that lead William to become a detective. Not so much about the Jesuits or the lumbercamp. I know. I'm disappointed about that...maybe in season 9?

"stubborn and...______________" He was so cute, squirmy, and yet proud in that scene, wasn't he? Sure, he was a bit embarrassed ( who wouldn't be) at having his youthful foibles recounted, but he was also kinda proud that his beautiful wife was sitting next to him for these tales. As for adjectives, I'm going for stubborn and maddening. Sure, she's beautiful, intelligent, impetuous, and lots of other things that drive him mad with desire.

Yes, I already had a fic blossoming in my mind about William showing off some virtue later...

While he wouldn't say Julia is "not" virtuous, it would definitely be some adjective in tension with that quality of virtue!

As it was MJ that wrote it and it was supposed to be based on Shipwreck I didn't think it would have anything about his days as a lumberjack. I would like to see this addressed in the future though as well as his 'stint as a ranch hand' which I've just realized refers to Yannick's role in Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy....

Maybe she'll write another book that deals with William's lost years? Such as from adolescence through the lumberjack years? And since Father Keegan won't be there, it'll get a bit steamier? I mean, we can always hope, right? I just caught that the ranch hand days were a nod to NTGFAC

We can hope Fallenbelle. I vote Michelle Ricci write the lumberjack one. She does seem to write the more scandalous ones. Good choice if anything went on but to be honest I don't think there would have been much sex in the camps, it was all men. There again....

I just watched the longer trailer.
I have high hopes for this episode. I love "origin story" type episodes. They're so fascinating. I hope they do this well.

I like origin stories, but I'm not a big fan of kid stories. I hope more time is spent on the adults responding to the stories or the mystery itself. Tonight was MM night with my International penpal, and it served to remind me once more that the mysteries themselves were more "plotty" in earlier seasons. I hate to think that the suffragette story may have played a role in sapping some of the structure from MM. Maybe they should have murdered more suffragettes!

I'm with you in that I prefer adult characters, but this is no family feel good story with a zany but loveable priest and a boy up to various hijinks. MJ wrote this episode about how William decided to become a detective, and I've been looking forward to it all season. It won't give me all the backstory I crave, but I hope it delivers on quite a bit.

Mainly I want to see Julia raising an eyebrow over finding out just what a bad boy William used to be...
