The main thing I can see for them not using it would be the expense, including trying to find fire appliances to fight it.....I can see them opening with the aftermath of it......however, I'm sure Peter and company will surprise us.... I'm sure expense is the reason he says the producer would probably kill him. The aftermath would be a better place to start, perhaps a murder not connected to the fire but unearthed by it. Yes, I'm sure there's a way to get creative with it. MM fans are not exactly in it for the big explosive special effects. But one thing I particularly like is for larger events to have an impact on William's life, and the Toronto Fire is a promising one. They could do a lot of special effects with smoke and soot as opposed to flames. Haven't we seen at least one "fire engine" on MM before?

Of course the problem here too is the fire didn't take place in SH4's area. I guess the mayor could call William in though.

An even better excuse not to have to show massive explosions, flames, and other special effects! But perhaps smoke did drift throughout the city? There could be displaced people, traffic jams, over-crowded hospitals, borrowed emergency personnel, etc.

Queen's Park isn't in SH4's area either, yet they've worked around it.....given the scope of the fire, I'm sure every fireman and police officer would have been called in.......fire engines responded from as far away as Buffalo.....the bloody thing was huge and smouldered for days.....

I really hope they get to an episode about the fire! Would make a perfect opening to season 10 Queen's Park isn't in SH4's area either, yet they've worked around it.....given the scope of the fire, I'm sure every fireman and police officer would have been called in.......fire engines responded from as far away as Buffalo.....the bloody thing was huge and smouldered for days..... I'm sure they can manage to find a body in the ashes and a personal angle for William! I'd love it if Gillies wasn't dead, comes back kidnaps Julia and then burns the building down she was in (which spreads) and everyone thinks she died in a fire.

I really hope they get to an episode about the fire! Would make a perfect opening to season 10 Unfortunately S10 will be too late for the Toronto fire. The start of S10 will be 12 months or more later.

Actually, this season will be 1903, so the fire, or its aftermath would fall into the S10 frame nicely as it happened in April, 1904......could be a real challenge for the CGI and prop guys......

I thought it was 1903. Don't know where I got that from though. I realized what got me confused. PM was talking about it in an interview and I assumed he was talking about including it this season and of course S9 is 1903. It didn't even click about the year.

I realized what got me confused. PM was talking about it IIRC, when we were speculating about S8, CC was speculating on the fire being in S9? I'm sure this idea came out of discussion along the lines of: "not this season but the next..."
