By the way, Journey to the Center of Toronto works if you treat it as psychlogical meta. Would we have CC's youtube ode to phallic imagery without it? Or new riffs on virgin and UST theories? Treat this like an extra layer of reality.

oklahomafan - I haven't been able to watch the episode, but it sounds like a close parallel, in terms of improbable adventures, would be the Temple of Death. People who really can't tolerate this level of steampunk fantasy can interpret those eps as something George wrote.

Regarding Meyers - is there room for a government conspiracy to claim a moon trip, a la Capricorn One? William could debunk the evidence later.
If Meyers was accidentally launched, MM stole that plot from Jules Verne. =.=
I get annoyed at shows randomly killing off potentially useful guest characters. The shock effect has worn down because too many shows have played the "shocking death" card.

I clearly don't have much of an eye for fashion cuz I have yet to notice what y'all are going on about in any of this seasons eps The only thing I've noticed is that William is a bit stockier these days, but I'd already noticed that last season. His clothes have looked fine to me. The characters and cast may look older these days but they age well. I have been pondering this MM fashion issue. I'm afraid I've not paid much mind to the men's 'daytime' suits over the seasons, other than the different styles of ties/cravats. I can't honestly say whether I think Murdoch's suits this year are cut a lot differently, I'd have to take time to compare to previous seasons. But what I did notice in this episode was . . . Murdoch was dressed differently than Brax, Clegg, and the rest in terns of jacket cut. I'm not clear as I've just done some preliminary reading, but he seems to be wearing a lounge type suit, while the others are in jackets more aligned with frock coats, which I understand were becoming popular at that time for all day instead of morning. Brax has often had different cuts to his suits than Murdoch, but Clegg and Meyers seemed much differently dressed than before (although for Clegg it was probably due to his new fancy schmancy position). Would be lovely to hear from Alex Reda at some point on the changing of men's fashion in the early Edwardian era and how it's being reflected in the show

I was watching Happy Days when that episode aired (ahem, from my crib ) and it was crazy. Because that show, like most sitcoms of the '60's-70's, followed a very narrow path in terms of what they could/would deliver. There were some exceptions but Happy Days wasn't one of them. By the same token, audiences were used to the formula and anything else was shocking/mind blowing. Then some shows started leaving the studio to film outdoors at DisneyLand, etc. I remember those being very odd to watch when the shows had always been filmed on sets. Didn't like it ---to weird. So yeah, Fonzy in his leather jacket, waterskiing was just nuts....never mind the shark. Jump ahead to 2015 and to MM. TPTB at MM are hard-pressed themselves to categorize the show-is it comedy?drama? etc. and the audiences that watch are also all over the map in terms of fandom. So I don't see how they can jump the shark---ever. Sometimes they make a very serious social statement, sometimes they laugh at themselves, sometimes they take a poke at the fans, often they are heavy into history other times not so much. I just don't see how they can jump the shark. I guess if someone has their own personal shark then it could be jumped... I think people have turned the phrase around to mean something different now. Yes, I've read Wikipedia but even in terms of "trusting" the show or whatever the last viewpoint on that topic is, I don't think its possible. But I've noticed that some people have been chomping at the bit for a few years now hoping to say MM has "jumped the shark". To my mind, they're actually saying it "jumped MY shark". All I know is that when it comes to this show, MY personal MM shark is un-jumpable. Like I said, just my own personal opinion. Stepping down from my soap-box now..... You make excellent points, Carco. And you're right: it really was my own personal shark, because I get picky on things like fantastical improbabilities and historical inaccuracies. I think I'll just stick around and watch some more episodes, keeping your points in mind. Thanks!

They have many researchers and are pretty accurate in their depictions...give or take 5 yrs or so, I believe someone said once. If you ever doubt the veracity in a particular episode try watching the "Making of..." videos they put out after the episode airs. They often provide great background on why they went in a particular direction in the episode, etc. But it's strictly entertainment so enjoy the ride, they're driving the bus. (But we like to be backseat drivers).

Methinks I hear complaining about lack of tea and crumpets ruining their cozy? MM has always had a touch of whimsical: that's what makes the show great. what? Oops, the complaining was not from you, but who you were responding to. The previous remark was sucked down a Kindle black hole!

I love how William and Julia are such geeks. Though Julia is a cool geek, but both are adorable when they get all excited about science and investigations. Another reason they are so good together. Looking forward to seeing this!

I like the fact that James & William are becoming more trusting and friendly towards each other. Honestly I felt this should've happened SOONER (??), but that it's happening at all is good news. Whoa, slashable gif!

Pendrick already outlined that you'd need some sort of parachute or hangglider or flying suit to escape the rocket safely. Unless Myers is lucky enough to land on a hot air balloon a'la James Bond...I don't see that happening. Or if he lands in the ocean and can swim to shore. Aliens transport him to safety...?

I think you'd have to be changing their sexualities first. Unlike Emily, those are two people who are so straight.
