You know the plot is whack when people think going to space in 1903 (and surviving it) is more realistic than a prostitute learning how to make human statues and transporting said statutes. #SayItAin'tPole

S & M When they said 'project D had been activated' I just about fell out of my chair....but they weren't wrong, given how the ep ended. "Science and Murder"? Or how about "theory and discussion". "Moving pictures and dominoes"? Yeah...THAT'S what I meant... To steal from Fringe, 'Falling into the Murgenda.' or just Murgenda. Sorry not period accurate but victorians are not really for the hip lingo, like the cool cats use nowadays.

I loved William talking about the moving picture being so unreal and that children shouldn't have to go through life with a distorted understanding of physics. What a burden for the children!! My first thought was trust William to be working out his formula on the blackboard whilst everyone else was discussing the Minister's whereabouts. I have a co-worker, who is a very smart nice young man (god, I sound old), who is very serious and maths oriented......I had to stifle laughing today, because he told me, in all seriousness, that he spent an evening on the weekend comparing calendarizing monthly payroll calculations vs daily calculations, and he did a chart of the average difference by month.....the difference was about $100 to a budget worth several billion.....considering he has a wife and a 6 month old baby at home, I asked him if he really had nothing better to do on a Sunday night....considering I spent Sunday night farting around on the internet watching TV, I feel somewhat inadequate.... I just retired (again) from the bank. They talk like that in the elevators for crying out loud!

I'm glad someone else noticed that. I asked the same question a few days ago. I'm not sure if it's the suits or the way Yannick's wearing the jackets. They're either too wide across the shoulders or he's not adjusting the way they sit when he puts them on. I don't like it, he was always so smart in the past. I clearly don't have much of an eye for fashion cuz I have yet to notice what y'all are going on about in any of this seasons eps The only thing I've noticed is that William is a bit stockier these days, but I'd already noticed that last season. His clothes have looked fine to me. The characters and cast may look older these days but they age well.

I love how William and Julia are such geeks. Though Julia is a cool geek, but both are adorable when they get all excited about science and investigations. Another reason they are so good together.

Anyone else thinking this is the Murdoch "Jump The Shark" episode? Flying suits, Vernesque science labs, and a rocket launch worthy of 1965 NASA fueled by a substance that wasn't even suggested as a rocket fuel until 1938? Will the next episode show our Murdoch inventing rap music?

Will the next episode show our Murdoch inventing rap music? They've had far-fetched episodes before. Journey to the Centre of Toronto was in a very similar vain, these kind of episodes are to be taken with a pinch of salt. MM has always had the characters inventing things before the real inventors would have, it's not always historially accurate, and it's meant as a bit of comedy when it happens. Though I don't believe for a second that Meyers could've survived this.

Yeah, I mean I've complained about these sorts of things before and yeah, I agree this ep was pretty far fetched, but I've realized you can't complain about realism when the entire CSI premise to the show is historically inaccurate. If complete realism is what you're after, I suggest the books and the tv movies. And there IS a Murdoch rap already. It's from The Murdoch Effect. It's terribly awesome.

That's a shame lots of people on FB have been complaining about the implausibility of BNL but they seem to think this ep was ok. I don't get it.

Will the next episode show our Murdoch inventing rap music? It's totally my own opinion and I'm not a TV fanatic by any means but personally, I think it's impossible for MM to jump the shark in the true sense of that whole silly scenario (sorry, but the phrase itself annoys me ) I was watching Happy Days when that episode aired (ahem, from my crib ) and it was crazy. Because that show, like most sitcoms of the '60's-70's, followed a very narrow path in terms of what they could/would deliver. There were some exceptions but Happy Days wasn't one of them. By the same token, audiences were used to the formula and anything else was shocking/mind blowing. Then some shows started leaving the studio to film outdoors at DisneyLand, etc. I remember those being very odd to watch when the shows had always been filmed on sets. Didn't like it ---to weird. So yeah, Fonzy in his leather jacket, waterskiing was just nuts....never mind the shark. Jump ahead to 2015 and to MM. TPTB at MM are hard-pressed themselves to categorize the show-is it comedy?drama? etc. and the audiences that watch are also all over the map in terms of fandom. So I don't see how they can jump the shark---ever. Sometimes they make a very serious social statement, sometimes they laugh at themselves, sometimes they take a poke at the fans, often they are heavy into history other times not so much. I just don't see how they can jump the shark. I guess if someone has their own personal shark then it could be jumped... I think people have turned the phrase around to mean something different now. Yes, I've read Wikipedia but even in terms of "trusting" the show or whatever the last viewpoint on that topic is, I don't think its possible. But I've noticed that some people have been chomping at the bit for a few years now hoping to say MM has "jumped the shark". To my mind, they're actually saying it "jumped MY shark". All I know is that when it comes to this show, MY personal MM shark is un-jumpable. Like I said, just my own personal opinion. Stepping down from my soap-box now.....

The only way MM could jump the shark is if the actors started phoning in their performances and the scripts stopped making sense as mysteries: in other words if it became boring. I thought MM might go there when it started doing meta episodes and staring at its own belly button while doling out shippy fan service. However those eps were ok and hopefully got the meta out of their system. So far this year the eps have improved through tighter plotting. I personally love the touch of steampunk in MM, and I think it gives the show a Symbolist and Surrealist ambiance that is appropriate for the juncture between strange science and Freudian/Jungian psychology.

To steal from Fringe, 'Falling into the Murgenda.' or just Murgenda. Sorry not period accurate but victorians are not really for the hip lingo, like the cool cats use nowadays. Methinks I hear complaining about lack of tea and crumpets ruining their cozy? MM has always had a touch of whimsical: that's what makes the show great.
