So finally got to sit down and enjoy this ep.! and oh man.
Both fight scenes were especially awesome, (and Murdoch when are you going to learn to stay safe by wearing your magical homburg at all times?) HINT: You're gonna want it on in the next episode.
Did we ever find the second body? The one of the Constable that found out about Peet's corruption. I know it was sermised to be cut up but did they ever find it?
Crabtree and Higgins were on top form this episode, and it was great to have James join in on their antics! BROMOBILE RETURNS!
Overall this episode was frankly quite awesome, but I'm really really looking forward to next weeks!

I really, really enjoyed this episode. And I think the setup for the next one is even more thrilling! In many ways, you could almost call this a two-parter. And Part II is next week!! I'm so excited! I really feel this episode had a lot of everything. Good fight-scenes, intrigue, spying, coverups, collusions...it was very very dark and gripping. x 2.

I am really hoping that W&J are not estranged by the end of the season but if I were a betting person, knowing PM's psychology, I am wondering if Julia will become alcoholic?--rg

I wouldn't be surprised if they are and I suspect that will be the 'cliffhanger'. We've had no angst since season 7, that's far too long. I have to admit, much as I like to see them happy I'm missing a bit of angst. I'd rather Julia didn't become an alcoholic though it does appear she likes her drink.

I don't want W/J broken up for the end of the season. We had 7 seasons of that and it's time to let them have any angst while still together. Julia wouldn't become an alcoholic because it would be so random. The only character who could possibly be believable as an alcoholic is Brackenreid.

A number of people have made comments about Julia drinking to excess and I don't see it, nor do I see her as alcoholic material......to me, she seems like a normal social drinker. If she were a stay at home wife, with the heartbreak of losing Roland, I could see the possibility, but she isn't......she is more likely to immerse herself in her work......

It's possible that she may become an alcoholic, but it may just seem as though she's an alcoholic because we see her at home a lot more now. Prior to last season, we didn't see them at home much. I keep thinking about the tweet made by PM at the end of shooting, and how that factors into things.

Well she has been drinking a lot I assume that was the tweet. Thanks Pete! No, it was something like "two cast members left to shoot" and we're done. I'm paraphrasing...I'll have to find the original tweet. Was that "shoot" as in film, or "shoot" as in with a gun. Pete, you evil, evil, man you. Edit: found tweet.

That's "funny" how we saw Crabtree, for exemple, being drunk 1 or 2 times, havings beers and drinks but nobody said anything. We see Julia having drink in social occasions like most of the other people (guests, dinning, party,..) or having a drink after a very hard moment and suddenly she's an alcoholic.

We see Julia having drink in social occasions like most of the other people (guests, dinning, party,..) or having a drink after a very hard moment and suddenly she's an alcoholic. I'll begin with restating that I don't think she's an alcoholic at this time, based on what I've seen. I think what people are picking up and commenting upon is that she's seen with a drink far more frequently than she used to be. However, she's also seen at home far more than she used to be, so I think it's perfectly acceptable for her to be having a glass of wine each evening. So yes, she's seen drinking more than she used to be, but as I said, there's a legitimate reason for that. However, I'm not opposed to the show exploring that angle if they chose to, because not only would that be an excellent source of tension with teetotaling William, it would also be an excellent way to show the bs double standard for women who drank, versus men and how it's similar to what women even today are told. But at present, no, there's nothing there to assume she's an alcoholic.

Brackenreid is always drinking and no-one thinks he's an alcoholic. People read too much into every little detail on MM.
