Mine would be decently similar! 1-3 are definitely god tier for me. I should probably put season 4 in the same tier as I feel like it kept the same amount of quality it's just a little bit of a downer. I love seasons 1-3 and would agree with you. However, while season four is probably a well-made season, I can't watch it again, because yes, Julia gets married, but that's not the only reason. It is a serious downer as you said, and ultimately, it's all about William's destruction, and I quite like William, and didn't particularly enjoy seeing him get whumped like he did here. If the show had ended at season 4 (a very real possibility), William would have gone off somewhere to become an alcoholic underachiever like his father, all alone in the world. Think about it: Julia gone, Susannah gone, his career that he'd worked so hard to achieve ruined for a good deed gone, his constabulary family gone as a result...he was truly all alone in the world, and I wouldn't want to see anyone endure all of that, let alone a character I liked. It's a shitty ending to three fantastic seasons. However, it thankfully didn't end there, and William was allowed to redeem himself. So, I realize I'm somewhat unusual, but give me season five any day. In fact, I quite enjoy seasons five, (six was okay), and seven-which really struck the perfect balance of fun, angsty, mystery, geekiness, and romance. For me S5 is the joint weakest because it really suffered the lack of Julia for over half the episodes, and the good episodes in that season were ones she was in. It had a handful of good episodes, but overall it felt too melodramatic, over-crowded, and it just didn't flow very well. But I did love the finale and it would've been a nice ending to the show if they hadn't have been saved by CBC. For a show that's been around for 10 seasons, to only have a couple of overall weak seasons is a great track record. I love or like the vast majority of episodes and I only despise one (9x03). That is why I'm still watching and enjoying MM after watching it since early 2009. It is a quality show with characters you care about. MM could always consider recasting Ruby. We haven't seen her for years so I don't think it would bother most viewers if a new actress played her for a guest spot(s). I don't think they should kill her off, because Julia already lost her father and leaving her without any immediate family would be too cruel. I also don't think they should kill off Emily. We should just hear that she's happy in England and won't be returning to Canada. Or she can come back for an episode to tell us that. After what happened to her in S9 she doesn't deserve to be treated any worse. But I do agree she isn't needed on the show anymore because Rebecca has taken her spot in the cast and there isn't room for Emily.

I think I may be the unusual one because I actually love S4 and for all the reasons you hate it. I am a reluctant but unabashed Jilliam shipper and I actually enjoyed the interaction between W/J in S4, it was obvious they both loved each other even though neither of them would admit it to the other. I didn't mind individual episodes of S5 but the season as a whole for me is disappointing, until Murdoch in Toyland and 20th Century Murdoch. As far as romance goes S7 was the best and it hit all the points that makes MM such a good show with the angst, geekiness and mystery as well.

I hate it when they recast characters, I'd rather she not be in the show again than do that. I have to admit that I rather resent Emily because she's the reason Julia was sidelined for so long. Julia's place is in the morgue, it's the only place she's relevant to all the storylines and I'm more than glad she's back there. I know if Emily came back it would just be as a guest appearance and I can handle that but I don't care if she does or not and as I've said before it's nothing to do with Georgina who I like.

Hey guys, I is very interesting to note that Maureen Jennings is writing another Murdoch mysteries book. It will be set in about 1918 and William would be 54 in the book. I hope it will be the start of a new series of MM with the original cast. Julie stated on unlok MM that she would not have to wear a corset and the clothes would be great.Perhaps it has already been considered? I think it would be great Maureen Jennings is writing this book this fall so it is possible......worht dreaming about eh!

HI guys. I know I have been away a long while. Where is the S10 Discussion page? So far, we've been putting the individual episodes under season 9 look in that board.

Soooo, anyone care to speculate on this? I'm not really surprised. I've said it privately to people that his kids are in their early teens and likely need their dad. Think about it, Thomas himself has said he really didn't know anything about the show when he sent in his taped audition. Never in his wildest dreams did he think it would entail 10+ years of working on this side of the Atlantic while his kids were growing up on the other side. That's a lot to deal with. I have great concern for how the writers will deal with the leadership vacuum and Peter Mitchell tweeted on Friday that "we shot a lot of people today" so I hope Thomas isn't one of the casualties but it would make for a very neat and permanent exit from the show. How does this affect Margaret's character on the show?

How does this affect Margaret's character on the show? I'm not surprised either, and really, we were fortunate to have had 10 seasons with the core four. I'll be sad to see him go, but I hope that it's done respectfully. I'm nervous they're going to have someone kill him, and I'd prefer if he'd just retire. I also hope they keep Margaret's character around too. If I got my pick, I'd vote for everyone thinking that William was dead, but he's really not. He's just undercover.

This is exactly why I think S11 should be the end of MM. I thought we couldn't keep all the original actors much longer. Without Brackenreid the show will feel very different and I don't want to risk losing any more of the actors/characters. Especially Helene.
When Brackenreid was saying in the latest episode how he feels like there's so much he's missing in life, I had a bad feeling about that and wondered if it at least meant he'd be missing for more episodes. Him leaving is even worse news, but not the biggest surprise. I just hope he isn't killed off, and it's a case of the family moving elsewhere which could mean we get a Brackenreid guest spot when the show ends. And I hope we don't get an awful new Inspector in S11.

We've heard rumours like this before.....remember Helene was supposed to be leaving? I'll hold off until we get official word from the show.......

I suspect though that the episodes without the Inspector, to some extent, were to give us a taste of SH4 without him. I have to admit it worked for me. I do like Brackenreid and I will miss him if Thomas Craig leaves but the show can go on without him. If he is leaving I hope they don't kill him off, that would not make for a great exit for me. However if he leaves Toronto for another job we won't get to see Mrs. B in the future and I would still like to see her character occasionally. I might add that this information really should not have been made public. It was an idiotic thing to do. Guess some people can't keep their mouths shut!
