While investigating the death of a championship show dog, Murdoch discovers a hidden affection for canine companions. via CBCDoes this mean that William finally selects a builder so that he can get a dog, something the hotel won't allow? This is probably going to be a light hearted episode, I'm thinking a la Best in Show (a terrific movie if you haven't seen it), but I hope some allusion is made to the Gillies aftermath.

I think it's already shown that Julia likes animals, so having a pet dog between them would be really cute!

As soon as I saw "acting inspector" I thought Slorach would be back, but nope. But Watts is back...oh boy!

I had a hard time with this episode, couldn't suspend disbelief. I'm sure they could have got better specimens of the breeds, most show dogs are well trained and would have been more realistic. I know the dogs looked a little different back then but it's mostly the grooming that makes them look different these days.
Would have liked to see more of Det. Watts case.

I loved this episode. I didn't even care about the murder, that took a back seat to the new/old detective, the remaining Mimico Newsome, all of the dogs, William's lack of comfort around the dogs (so funny considering he has dogs in real life) and the references to the future (Newfoundland becoming a province, the CN Tower, Canada's 150th)

I felt rather underwhelmed by this episode. Some of it was alright, the rest was just bleugh. Miz Newsome really does strike me as the Victorian equivalent of the rich, airheaded bimbo. She has absolutely no idea what's going on outside of her own little world.
The killer was pretty obvious from the start. You'd have to be pretty thick not to notice that the guy faked his poisoning RIGHT IN FRONT of Murdoch. That obviously wasn't an accident. I felt the crime was very see-through.

Is it just me or did they not finish the Watts-Missing Women subplot? Presumably, they'll finish it next episode, but I don't see why they couldn't just give it its own episode.

I'm hoping it gets finished but it was the B plot. It didn't get it's own episode because Murdoch isn't involved in the case.

Underwhelmed is a good description of this episode. Not to mention I've been showing dogs for over 25 years and the episode just didn't ring true to me.

It's a shame William and Julia didn't keep the dog, they seemed to really like her. They're so cute around pets and kids. It gives us an insight to how they'll be when they finally get the home with a kid(s) and pet. The scene of them in bed with the dog was very sweet.
I didn't see the point of the Watts/Jackson storyline, especially when it didn't even go anywhere in this episode. The dog caper was fun, but the episode needed more of the female characters, less of Watts/Jackson, and I have no idea why they included the time traveler bit. I didn't dislike the episode, it had some good, funny, and cute bits, but it felt really disjointed. Like it was three episodes worth of stories mushed together.
I assume we'll have Watts around the precinct for most of the rest of this season, if not all of it. Though I still don't think having two active detectives works well for the plots. There isn't enough material for two, and we already saw that with George. But I'll see how it goes and I'm still overall liking S10, so it's not a massive complaint.

The time traveler could have something to do with the online series starting today. Can't remember the title but it's about time travel.

I have been waiting for your opinion of the dogs. I know nothing about show dogs but I couldn't shake the feeling that Pistachio was too heavy in the chest and her legs were a bit short to be a 'Best in Show' contender. Loved the way Pistachio worked her way into William's affections though! Yannick's own bulldog Duke was the last in the lineup during bulldog showing. According to Shantelle's blog, Duke was very well behaved during rehearsals but was a bit unruly during filming. Nepotism prevailed so duke ws not replaced. linkhttps://pbs.twimg.com/media/C2VnUoZWIAApF13.jpgI just noticed in scene where William walks through the holding room (getting Pistachio all excited), there are dog pictures on the wall and the one on the far left is Yannick's Duke.
