Airing October 2, 2017 After a wine connoisseur is poisoned, Murdoch and Watts uncork fraud and a fledgling industry. Per CBC Program Guide: www.cbc.ca/programguide/daily/2017/10/02/cbc_television/?t=1505722481143Well, it looks like we're not getting a two part season opener this year after all. It'll be interesting to see how they resolve the events of 10.18 in a single episode. Also, this episode sounds fun.

Well, that was fun! Oh, for a glass of red wine to sip as I rewatch the episode. Now we know how Mouna is going to handle working on another show. Rebecca James has grown on me and I'm sad to see her go. I do hope it was her choice to leave but the door is still open. It was very interesting to watch the interplay between William and Watts as they solved the case. There was no need to explain Watts' obvious interest and knowledge of wines nor did that compete with William's many interests. It simply moved the case along. I had to laugh when a tipsy Watts pulled all those random bits of paper out of his pocket that landed on Brackenreid's desk. His methods are so different from William's that I was expecting some tension/frustration. Intoxicated!William...hehehe. George: "This is my favourite part! We're off to catch the culprit. There might be a chase or a tearful, heartfelt confession...." I love you George Crabtree. The plot was just twisted enough to keep me guessing, (mysteries really are not my thing), but I loved the CG work at the end when Murdoch visually peels back 45 years of growth to reveal the original house and solve case. We even got some W/J action happening! I have to say that I'm excited for this season.

It was obvious William was going to get tipsy, I loved it ... and the suggestive behaviour, finally some fun and semblance of a regular marriage. Will we get more or was it just a tidbit thrown our way? I could believe Watts is a wine connoisseur, he has to have some interest, why not wine? I thought the William/Watts interplay as you call it worked very well. It was good to see W somewhat out of his element here. As I've said before I've always liked Watts, just don't want too much of him. I'm sorry to see Rebecca James go but given she wasn't in the promotional photo it seemed like she wasn't going to be here, the same happened with Emily Grace. William is in those huge suits again and what the hell are all these brown outfits for Julia? Get her into another colour ... PLEASE!

I wouldn't have known that the wine industry in Ontario went back that far. I have always assumed it was far less old. Certainly when I began to drink wine, back in my teens, there wasn't much to choose from that came from Canada, and most of it was schlock. I love how this episode makes us think about Ontario wines, and, having just been to Niagara wine country, and walked through several vineyards, this put a big smile on my face!!

Yes, and bringing in someone else in the morgue. I hope Julia isn't going to turn into another one line character again. I understand their idea of Julia having other things on her plate ... perhaps too much ... but they're not exactly going to reduce the cast if they're bringing in someone else. Looks like we'll be stuck with the overly large cast again.

I must admit, I've been in a cocktail phase of late, but after this episode, a glass of red sounds delicious! I'm sad to see Rebecca go, but I hope her new role is awesome. My one complaint regarding her is that the show did a much better job of developing Watts in a much shorter time than they ever did with Rebecca. I think their intentions were good, but in the end they weren't sure what to do with her? It sounds like she'll be replaced, but I hope that the show has a good idea of what they'll do with the character before they choose and implement her (I'm assuming it'll be a woman because they need a woman, IMO.) I agree that this was a light, fun episode, and I enjoyed it a lot. The witty repartee between William and Watts was so well done and was enjoyable to watch/listen to. I just knew we were going to get drunk!William and I wasn't disappointed. I loved watching him enjoy the wine and almost become a connoisseur of the drink much like he had become a devotee of golf a few seasons back. Furthermore, it never occurred to me, but my husband made a comment about how William didn't drink not because he didn't like it, but because of his addictive personality. I've never thought of W having an addictive personality, but my husband brought up golf, dogged pursuit of his job, and most of all, Julia. I'm still undecided on this thought though... What can I say, I also loved the W/J action and William making it a point to be the pursue-er, with few exceptions, it's been Julia. However, it was great to see them behaving as a married couple and not roomies. Nicely done, MM! It was tender and sweet...loved William carrying Julia off to have his way with her. But a nicely made show over all. Lots of twists as LM mentioned and I had all but forgotten about the brother from the beginning of the episode. Last week and this week is MM at its best!

The suggestive behavior was fantastic and yes, finally a sign that this is a couple in love as opposed roomies. I won't expect it every episode, but I hope it will be a common feature. Like you, I could also believe that Watts is a wine snob and this episode really was an excellent use of his character. I kinda liked seeing William be wrong and not the expert for once, but in a competitive but non-threatening way. This was a lot of fun! You are William's suit expert...I hadn't noticed the size so much, but I agree with you that he looks better in the more tailored suits. Were the bigger suits more fashionable in 1905? I loved Julia's new lingerie, so pretty...and I rather like brown and blue together, but what I hated was that vest. The jacket, blouse, tie, and skirt were fine...but I want to burn that vest!

I doubt it will be common but if we even get a snifter that would be fine with me. I seem to remember YB saying the fitted suits were hot so he'd asked for more room. Unfortunately they went overboard and they're not only baggy but too big, they hang off his shoulders and gape at the neck, very unflattering. I love a suited man, especially three piece, but I'm preferring dressed down W these days as at least the clothes FIT. I hated Julia's new lingerie, it didn't even look like lingerie to me. I have to admit I'm not a fan of brown for anything but natural things (eyes, hair, fur etc. - I'll add leather to that). I've always wondered why people think blue and brown go together, a very unflattering combination to me, but I just can't get around the brown I suppose. I'd just like to burn all the brown outfits! I think it washes her out.

I liked Rebecca so I'm sorry to see her go. But I'm happy she got the job and relationship she wanted and she or Emily could always guest star in the future. If Mouna quit, I can't blame her considering her character got minimal screen time compared to the recurring or guest stars.
With Rebecca gone we'll hopefully see Julia in more scenes which is a much needed thing. They don't need to add another person to the morgue, they could just have Julia leave her position at the asylum if they think she's doing too much. They already spent S8-10 overdoing recurring characters and it didn't please a lot of viewers.
Watts needs a lot less scenes because William spent 10 seasons doing things mostly by himself and he doesn't need the extra help. He always had Brakenreid, Julia, George and/or Higgins for that.
Glad to see more cute W/J in this episode and hopefully we get that more regularly throughout S11. I missed it in ep 1.
I recognized the butler, as soon as I saw him, as being from Mild Mild West. A very different character to his last one.
