I have been able to see the first three episodes of Season 12. Does anyone know where the weekly episodes can be viewed online in the US? Will Acorn have them?
I have to say that only episode 2 so far is any good. The producers have decided to emphasize farsical comedy far beyond what we've seen before. Or at least establish alternating comedy with dramatic ones. It's disappointing. I am afraid this technique could be the deathknell of Murdoch Mysteries. What is going on with Murdoch Mysteries??? And Ruth Newsome is a pest. I am not optimistic about the future of Murdoch Mysteries.By the way, did anyone notice that Jonny Harris has gained weight?? I'd say 30 pounds...

Episode 4 is an excellent episode. If they can all remain this good, there is a bright future for the show!

I have just watched the episode after Halloween, Brother's Keeper, which is an excellent episode. What is unclear at the end is the precise scenario involving Watts, Nigel and Nigel's father in the alley which resulted in Watts getting wounded. It is clear in the story but not stated explicitly that Watts wanted to protect Nigel's father who killed his own son because Nigel had just killed Hubert Marks the brother of Daniel Marks who Nigel had killed previously. But what exactly happened in the alley? Was Watts wounded by being shot by Nigel's gun which the father found in the shed after Nigel killed Hubert in a struggle with Nigel's father after he killed his own son? This is not made clear in the episode. I would like to get input but don't see much. So I will post in the episode area as well.

Watts wounded himself as he thought he was covering for his brother, who was the owner of the gun.

duvduv we have an episode chat further below under the Season 11 section. As far as your question goes, that seems to be the most asked amongst MM fans.

Thank you. I think I managed to get clarification outside this forum, but the truth is that the details were not explicitly clear in the episode itself. It didn't actually show Watts appearing before Nigel's father shot his son as a scenario. As I understand it Watts did not know that Hubert was dead in the barn, and only saw Nigel dead after his father shot him and disappeared, assuming that Hubert had in fact shot Nigel and disappeared, which is why Watts was so shocked when he saw that Hubert was in fact dead. But why did Watts have to claim so strongly that it was Hubert who had shot Nigel when it could have been someone else entirely? He could have just claimed that he had been walking along and saw a dead Nigel, and that Hubert was gone, since there was no direct evidence linking Hubert and Nigel's death (according to Watts)?? Anyway, I think that Daniel Maslany is terrific in the series. He is innocent, sincere and quite eccentric. And Watts did beautifully in his interview with Murdoch. Who knows, maybe he'll be able to have his own detective show one of these days. Maslany is an unusual actor. Other detectives are known to be highly eccentric: Columbo, Jessica Fletcher, Sherlock Holmes, etc. And Maslany as Watts doesn't have even a streak of meanness or arrogance.

Duvduv, I agree about Watts. There is such a sweetness to him. Both in this episode and the one where he found his sister, that was evident.

I'm interested in knowing where I can view season 12 in the US.....it isn't on PBS or acorn yet All I did was Google Murdoch Mysteries and the name of the episode. It brings up several websites. However, usually the display is in reverse for some reason, I guess because it's not on the CBC. In addition, it seems as if some minutes are cut off at the beginning.

Quick question: The length of the episode Secrets and Lies, #9 of Season 12 on the website I watched began with Brackenreid in civilian clothes already in the other town carrying the photo of the girl. However, the introductory description on the CBC pages seems to suggest that the story started with Brackenreid knowing nothing of why he was summoned to the town of St. Mary's by his former flame, Sarah. The length on that site was about 44-45 minutes. One of the most poignant aspects of the story was the extremely mature and poised attitude of John Brackenreid to discovering the entire story. An interesting twist also was that it didn't involve a Murdoch case at all or appearances by Higgins or Julia Ogden. Add to this the contrast with the fact that Sarah was black in light of Brackenreid's harsh attitude toward the coroner Violet Hart when he told her she wouldn't be able to progress because she was both black and female. I didn't like that snippet in that episode considering Brackenreid had been developing more tolerance (except maybe for Catholics)…..

Molly, I believe Acorn starts posting the episodes sometime after the new year begins, if I remember from previous seasons. When they post them, it's usually one or two at a time, so it takes until about June before the entire season is posted. Patience is the name of the game for viewers in the USA. We have to wait and wait and wait. This year Season 11 DVDs were released the last of July and the Christmas episode DVD was released in mid- September.

I've watched a few season 12 episodes and I think they're very disappointing. The production and cast are excellent, as always, but the plots are just slapstick and farce. Where's the wit and cleverness gone? I don't know how much more of it I can be bothered to watch. This used to be my favourite program and it always made me laugh but now it just makes me yawn cos it's so silly. It's such a shame that it will end on such a down note.

I do agree with what you say. They just seem to be going through the motions now. Very poor of late.

Well, I have just watched the most stupid and boring episode of ANY show ever. Season 12 episode 6 called "Sir!! sir!!! sir!!
When writers have lost the plot and don't know which way to turn they write about aliens. What a load of rubbish. Surely the cast and crew must have known how silly and embarrassing that was to do.

A lot of the viewership (including me) enjoyed this episode. Perhaps part of the issue is that the Canadian viewing was at Halloween, which it was supposed to be and the publicity around the episode made it very clear that this was a stand alone episode, made instead of a Christmas one, and had no bearing on the progression of the series as a whole. If you look at it as a bit of fun and not take it seriously, it was quite amusing. When seeing the episodes which come after it, the writers have absolutely NOT lost the plot.
