Sorry, Dr. F...If you'll direct your attention to the avatar on your left, you'll see that I am quite happy with my relationship! Lol. Now Dr. F. is even more nervous and put out than he was before, and high-tailing it back to Scotland Yard.

I love how all of the cases George works as a detective are really dumb and basically handed to him on a silver platter. The first one was with the feuding restaurant guys and there was literally only one suspect the whole time. Surprise it was one of the feuding guys! The next case had a woman who hired someone to kill her husband. She was again the only suspect/person interviewed. He figured out she was guilty because she said something incriminating upon their first interview! And again this time there was only one suspect and he was only suspected of anything because of his own stupidity and sheer dumb luck! I hope they give George a real case to solve when The Murdoch's go away on their honeymoon.

I hope they give George a real case to solve when The Murdoch's go away on their honeymoon. George is capable of more. He did a brilliant job of uncovering the "capitalist conspiracy in "War on Terror". And he can kick ass in the interrogation room when he has the evidence. Plus he looks fab in his bowler.

So...I just watched this episode again (in order) this time, and I want to throttle both W and J. First of all, why did William wait so long to go? Yes, he was probably waiting for a cue or invite, but if there was ever a time he needed to man up and take the initiative, this was it. To be slightly generalistic here, a lot of women like to be pursued, and Julia wanted him William to do just that-but he didn't. Big mistake.
Second, Julia was being a bit of a cruel bitch here. I like Julia, but inviting William to Buffalo when she knew he was probably waiting for such an invite, leading him on, and then when he does get the nerve, shutting him down with a "hey, I didn't mention this before because I wanted you to do something for me but I'm marrying another-byeeeeeee!" was just wrong. What the hell was she thinking?
Again, yes, he should have caught the next train to Buffalo and made things right, but I'm willing to give him a pass here. He was conceivably giving her space-she did all of a sudden ( in his view) up and run off to Buffalo and then waited months to make contact. I can see why he hesitated, and I can't say that I would have done differently if someone I was seeing did a sudden runner on me. He may have been respecting her wishes.
In all, their inability to just be frank with one another has been the tragedy of their relationship through season 4. They do improve after season 5.

I think it's possible Julia may have been waiting for letters with confessions of love and gotten letters with confessions of...nothing. Perhaps she thought William had found another fiance already and was being discreetly quiet about it, and Buffalo was going to be her way of saying: "See, I can find a man, too." After all, look at the way he behaved before with Enid. Absence just allowed imagination to grow for them both. But, seriously, he should have gotten on the first train when she left instead of moping about it. That's the big mystery. Unless the idea to adopt children was made under pressure and he needed several months to actually think about what she said.

Even if he didn't go storming after her on the train, he should have at least sent a letter to her. But then, she could have sent a letter to him as well. You're right, plenty of mistakes made on both sides. *throttles them both*

Well here I am being forced into watching Buffalo Shuffle. Another ep a day!
1. BRACKENRED. That is all.
2. William happened to be awake at 2:35 am? Is that because he was out late with Dr. Francis? Willard Prenfrew (Prenfru?) just cracks me up. I sincerely hope she makes jabs at him and calls him that every now and then!
3. William was doing so well in this episode. He stood up for Julia, was letting her know how great it was to see her, and he was gonna propose. Poor guy gets shot down when he steps up.
4. I have thought that perhaps Julia was hoping William would come to Buffalo and have moved on. She perhaps hadn’t completely justified her own moving on and thought if William came and had a fiance or was serious about someone she would know that she made the right choice. I’m sure she realized she broke William’s heart and the whole he’d-moved-on-plan failed her and she just crushed him even more.
5. Julia also tried to tell William sooner. The just ended up with a gun pointed at them at that exact moment. So at least she wasn’t trying to save telling William for when he would undoubtedly make a move.

I agree Julia was hoping for confirmation of her whole "William is going to find a good woman to give him a family" projection. Meanwhile, I also have a theory that, at least at that point in his life (or when MM was written in my psychologically complex terms), William needed an express invitation from women. i.e., he suffered for months waiting for a letter invite from Julia, just turning over that ring in his pocket. William the insomniac? Besides the Frilliam (I love saying that) possibiliies), there used to be that whole thing in The X-Files with Mulder being an insomniac. That was supposed to be the key to all sorts of interesting neuroses and theories (and, of course, reasons Scully would be good for him). That was so long ago, I can't remember any of that, though. While the writers may not have worked on TXF, the in-jokes of the first season - particularly Belly Speaker and Annoying Red Planet, convince me that there is some (possibly tech crew or producer) relation. Combined with Tattered and Torn, were William seemed to be just staring at the ceiling all night, I think insomnia was being implied.

Except in The Filmed Adventures... he said he slept eight hours rain or shine. Of course that could be because Julia was back in his life. T&T did suggest he lay awake thinking of Julia though.

Of course we've seen with Julia he sleeps like a baby - he didn't even comfort her after her nightmare during The Incurables. So it might have been a temporary emotional state.
