William Murdoch announces to the station house that he is taking a vacation – to Buffalo – leaving Constable Crabtree and Inspector Brackenreid to investigate a break-in at station house no. 4. Murdoch is on his way to Buffalo after receiving a telegram from Dr. Ogden in which she explains that she believes there was a murder at the children’s hospital. The case involved a 14-year-old boy who was terminally ill with cancer. Dr. Ogden believes his death was anything but natural causes.

It will be great to see Julia again and I'm very interested to see how she and Murdoch will interact. So far their contact will only have been professional; she helping him in S4 ep 1 from afar, he coming to help her in this ep. In S4 ep 1 it had been 6 months since she left. In ep 2 it was May or June. Any idea how long it will have been by ep 3 since she left Toronto? It was sunny in S3 ep 13... I'm guessing it was fall? So maybe it has been about 9 months?

Omg 9 months?it's not good for their relationship... I have seen on the Murdoch groups on Facebook that a lot of people don't want Julia and William together..I don't understand it..

I agree with you camilla. I want them to get together, too. I think they will eventually. I think some people think they are too different but in real life that often happens and makes things more interesting. If you're too much alike it is usually boring. Plus even though they do have some differences they also share a love of science, a passion for justice and truth, a desire to protect the innocent and a compassion for humanity.

Well that episode had something for everyone! The A story is William going off to Buffalo at the request of Julia to help her investigate a suspicious death at the children's hospital. The case itself is fairly easy to solve, we don't meet that many supsects after all, it's more about how Julia and William are reacting to working together again. There are a number of moments where you're just willing one of them to make the first move but it never quite pans out...and then the final scene where William is about to take the plunge, Julia drops the bombshell of her engagement to Dr Darcy Garland. We get a hug but it's all very sad and it's easy to see that neither of them are particularly thrilled with how things are. Favourite moments: Julia's cover story for William and giving him the name Willard Prenfrew [?]! The pair of them hiding out in the supplies cupboard waiting to trap the blackmailer. Best Line: Mrs Abbot: And you Detective Murdoch, deceit from the beginning and from a Canadian! The B story, although it gets as much screentime and is as enjoyable as the A story, is Crabtree showing us the ace detective that Murdoch has helped him to become, with Brackenreid and Higgins ably supporting him. George has certainly come a long way since Series One and his relationship with Higgins is almost a mirror image to the one he's had with Murdoch. Favourite moments: Higgins ventures to suggest that George now knows more about 'the photography' than Murdoch and George agrees George pondering exactly what the matter has been with Murdoch these past months, he's suffering a malaise - "I believe it's Italian for gloomy" - and Higgins just coming right out and saying "He's lovesick for Dr Ogden, George. Plain and simple." The interview room scene where George has set up a trap to catch the killer/thief and Higgins' gives the worst 'scripted performance' ever!

It was another great episode! We got to see Julia again too!! I won't give too much away because it wouldn't be fair but I was sad at the end.. Crabtree and Higgins were hilarious again! Crabtree interviewing the suspect was also really funny... Bless him

I think you'll love it Camilla...and also be saddened and frustrated by the ending. Those two need their heads banging together to knock some sense into them. For two such together and intelligent people they can be awfully dense at times
