Okay, now that I've watched episode 4 (you're the best, Camilla!), I can agree that Darcy is a nice guy.....I still want to see Julia with William! Besides, William is the hero of the series - he should be able to get the girl!
This episode, while it saw the end of Dr. Francis as the coroner, also finally made me appreciate his character. Liked his insight about William and Julia, also.
Also noted the engagement ring Julia is wearing...am I crazy, or does it look like the one Murdoch bought at the end of Season 3? I have to say, I think whoever's in charge of props dropped the ball on this whole ring stuff...but then maybe they didn't realize that there are MM fanatics (like me - I admit it freely) who watch and re-watch the episodes, who wind up picking up details like that.
I liked the look Crabtree and Brackenreid shared as William went off to the morgue to confer with Julia - it seemed like the comfort of old times between the 3 of them. I think that's the unexpected part I miss in Julia's absence from Toronto, the good nature of Murdoch which served as an effective, comfortable bridge from Crabtree to Brackenreid.

Anything is possible on tv, it's the will they wont they that's keeping us hooked. Good story lines too.

I'm just gonna jump into the discussion I think the ring is really similar, but a different color. can't remember exactly but I think one is red and the other one blue... something like that. As for Darcy... I think he is nice. And he has another quality which I think might have been part of why Julia is already engaged to him. He is less uptight, more modern, for the lack of a better word. He repeatedly called Julia "darling" in front of others and he didn't think twice about giving up his job in Buffalo so that she could be happy in Toronto. Murdoch on the other hand barely showed any affection towards her whenever they were alone (leave aside the beginning of the relationship), a simple peck on the cheek could become awkward and he rarely spoke his mind. He has this stupid tendency to remain silent when he really should say something and I think that made Julia believe that he didn't really care about her all that much. I watched the season 3 finale again last night and what I didn't really realize until then was that the last thing they exchanged before she went to Buffalo was when she told him she was sterile and asked him to say something and he remained silent. She said "That says it all", thinking she was correct that he wouldn't be happy just with her and no kids. Then Crabtree came in and once again (and I want to slap him up the back of his head every time he does that! He should learn from Dr. Francis!) he left in the middle of an important conversation, just left her standing there and went back to work. That's what she remembers as the end of their relationship. So even if she still loves him and wants to be with him (and we all know she does) she must believe that she alone isn't enough for him. His advance towards her in Buffalo didn't tell her that he has an engagement ring and just missed her by seconds at the train station. And unlike Darcy he never considered for a second to go to Buffalo with her to be with her. When he did, when he was already there, it was too late and again I want to point out that she doesn't know this. So for her Darcy at this point is a very good option. He clearly cares for her, she seems to really like him and she still believes William couldn't be happy with her. So I think if he really wants her back he has to do something, at least open his mouth and tell her. That said, of course I want Julia with William and Darcy out of the picture. However the way things are going and considering the fact that the William / Julia bits in the episode descriptions seem incorrect, I really doubt that we will get anything good before the season finale. And I really don't like it!

My exact sensation and opinion Akarana!!I don't know but I'm sure we will get anything good between William abd Julia in this season!this is why I want so much a 5th season! One time we have the imagination of William and Julia for see scenes between them but not this season And let me say I think the same thing about William.I love him and for sure he loves Julia a lot,but she need to know it!he need to say her that he loves her and want marry her, despite all!I think Julia know William loves her and he want stay with her but now she need certainties for the future and know he want stay with her forever also without children

Just finished watching Monsieur Murdoch....I too like the introduction of a side story for Brackenreid, but am also frustrated by the lack of movement from William towards Julia. At some point, he has to tell her, but I don't know what it will take, short of a catastrophe, or interrupting her wedding to Darcy. I hate to say it, but I'm afraid the writers might string out that hidden letter from Julia, and as others have suggested, not have anything happen until the end of season 4.
Alarming as that is, I have to wonder - when will season 4 start in Canada? Because I would think getting the go-ahead for a 5th season would be tough if one of the partners (CityTV) hasn't yet shown the 4th season. All because they let the Canadian PM do a cameo!
I think I remember Iden Ford blogging at one point that things were looking promising for a 5th season, even as the 4th was just starting to be shown. I hope that's the case. Of course, being from the U.S., I'm used to series being 26 episodes long and not only 13, so I really wish they had 4 seasons that long in the can, but maybe it would not be as addictive that way!
I definitely think from the sidelong looks that Julia will wind up back with William - I just have little patience, and want it to have happened already! Still, I go back to the interview where Helene Joy said Ogden and Murdoch were going to a masquerade together - surely if Darcy were still in the picture, that wouldn't be the case!
Ah, well, I guess only time will tell.....

I don't know about another season,I continue to think about it..a 5th season is the only occasion to see something between William and Julia I think..however I have another question: if the season 4 end with a cliffangher how remain the fans of the show without a 5th season??

I don't think Darcy will be around after S4, but whether William and Julia will have fully gotten back together, I don't know. I think there will be some sense that they are going to be back together though. I think the cliffhanger could be that William finally proposes but Julia doesn't respond right away. I agree with akarana that William is frustrating about not telling Julia how he feels but they are both that way. That is partly why it continues to be so slow going, they are both so inside their heads as Julia said in The Green Muse. They are both sort of neurotic and slow to express their feelings. If Julia wasn't that way I'm sure she would have gotten fed up with William long ago and lost interest. Ruby lost interest pretty quickly in William. That was partly because she realized her sister had feelings for him but I think she would have anyway. She would have been too impatient. So that could be interesting if she and George start a romance. I think he might be a little slow to express his feelings, too. I'm sure there will be more to come about how Julia and Darcy got together and why she decided to marry him. There may be some surprises there, too. I still think the masquerade will include all the main characters there together. Ruby is pictured in costume, as well. And considering that William is the prime suspect in the murder that happens at the party, I'm sure that means the rest of the station attends, too. It seems to suggest they were all witnesses. My hope is that Darcy and William trade places in the finale as the groom.

I personally can only think of two ways to get Darcy out of the picture that would fit with what we've seen of him so far.
One would be that he sees the looks that pass between William and Julia and decides to not ignore them any longer. He might call Julia on her feelings or might simply leave, but I can see him giving up Julia because he wants her happy.
Second option would be some sort of drama or catastrophe that brings William and Julia closer and she realizes that she can't marry Darcy.
However I don't see it going to the altar. That would just be too cliché for the show, I think. Another thing I don't see happening is William telling Julia about his feelings as long as she's still with Darcy. He had troubles spitting it out when they were still together and stealing a woman from another man isn't his thing.
If I believe the episode descriptions (this time) I think that the episode when the girl from England (can't remember her name)comes over or is involved in a case, might be some sort of eye opener one way or another. I just hope we won't get to see another try of "Murdoch dates someone other than Julia". Girl from England didn't feel right, Ruby stepped away because she could see what was going on, Mrs. Pendrick still gives me the creeps and I am still worried what got him so fascinated about her that it seemed at times like he forgot Julia (maybe only because she was the "Case" that kept popping up while Julia wanted to leave and because of that they never talked). And then of course, there's Enid. Seeing Julia with Darcy, I feel like watching the Enid thing in reverse and going a step further.
As for the question of season 5: Even the best shows get axed sometimes by networks while others run for seasons without being that succesful. It's really unpredictable and a bad cliffhanger has never changed the mind of a network when they wanted to end a show.

Maybe they have filmed 2 different final scenes.one a cliffhanger if there's a 5th season and another one if there's not another season..

They will probably leave us with another cliff-hanger like the end of S3

I can't tell you how much I'd hate that! also it would mean another 8 episodes of pining and heartache and then if we'd get another season the whole game would start again from scratch. Oh boy.... I hope they get back together really soon. Although I highly doubt that'll happen.

I'm almost sure if we have a 5th season we can see an happy ending for William and Julia..and not only in the last episode.the problem is that we are not sure to have another season and in this one I continue to think we don't see nothing between William and Julia(maybe only in the last scene of the last episode) I'm ready to sign a petition for another season!

Changing the topic slightly Does anyone think that George will actually finish writing his murder mystery?
