Another ep a day til season 9! 1. I love that William is afraid of the needle. Ha! Also in this scene Julia looks so great with the braid! Although, she’s always beautiful! 2. Enid never seems genuine to me. Plus she seems to have much more of a motherly relationship with William than a romantic one. (OMG STOP FEEDING HIM IT’S DRIVING ME CRAZY) I totally feel like she only kissed William at the end bc she was getting all jealous with Julia having just been there. 3. George getting grossed out in the Morgue was great. I swear Julia was getting the biggest kick out of this and was putting things in his face on purpose. 4. I know others have mentioned this in other threads but have we decided why William suddenly likes Mrs. Kitchen’s cooking in season 8? I’ve always put it down to a continuity error but perhaps someone has a theory about it. 5. I’m very confused about William’s “dream” where Julia was in his bed. It is really odd that it seems so real yet the cut to the scene with Enid is most definitely dream like with the extra light around everything. Perhaps it was somewhat of a memory. Maybe they “played dominoes” late into the evening in the past. If it wasn’t for season 6 when he mentions that they can’t be together until they’re married I would be 100% convinced that they had been sleeping together. All in all this episode gives you a lot to think about. Oh and I wanted to be a brat and skip when they kiss but thought no I will sit through it. And then THIS happened! The picture froze but the audio kept going. Divine intervention saving me from Wilnid (or w.e. we’d call them)!

We're just going through these eps on CBC right now, unfortunately with major butchering, usually Jilliam scenes. I've come to the conclusion whoever is doing the editing at the CBC doesn't like Jilliam! The key to the 'dream' is the music. Whenever W/J have a fantasy the music is the same. In this case it starts out as a fantasy and goes into a dream. As far as I can tell anyway. What I don't get about this fantasy is why William would fantasize about Julia saying they don't want the same thing.

What Julia's saying represents William's logical mind trying to convince himself, but what Julia is actually doing is the subconscious mind/what William wants.

The picture froze but the audio kept going. Divine intervention saving me from Wilnid (or w.e. we’d call them)! IMHO William liking Mrs. Kitchen's food is one of the "errors" in an episode that is modeled after "bad spaghetti Westerns" which have a lot of episodes. I think a lot of people didn't get that this was a sort of art episode that YB was having a lot of fun with, and that in particular was anti-fan siervice. Another example was him losing the hat and then the hat being back on when William went through the Barn door. There are apparently other very minor errors like exiting stage right, coming in stage left, etc. YB himself explained what he was doing when he was originally filming the ep, and some people (other than me) pointed it out when the ep aired. A lot of fans looked at the "errors" and just complained about the mistakes. In this case, I it was sad the fans ability to understand what the director was doing did not rise to the ability the art. I feel bad for YB because he gets few chances to direct, and I'm sure he was hoping it would be celebrated for its cleverness. This reminds me of when David Duchovny directed his first episode of The X-Files. It was an "artsy" one based on a baseball game and widely celebrated as brilliant: this probably set the trend of actors getting to show off their creativity as a director. However, David Duchovny also directed at least one other episode that was kind of a mess, so it's hard to score that "genius award" as an actor/director even if you've already done it once before! Anyway, this is what YB was trying to do: be an artsy director. It was not a normal episode of MM. Viewers had to be willing to understand that. They also had to be willing to know or learn something about spaghetti Westerns and be willing to look at Americans through Canadian eyes. There was also some good-humored fan-service delivered via this ep with, I think, several different stereotypes of William in play at different parts of the ep. That might be giving YB too much credit, but the William suddenly liking Mrs. Kitchen's cooking was certainly on purpose. I think it was a great episode in many respects. Fans just need to open their minds to something different to enjoy it.

Younger fans especially that haven't been into the spag. westerns maybe wouldn't have got the references. I noted among other things the gun that shot far too many bullets for a six shooter, the hat of course, the dynamite to 'blow up' the train there were others that I can't think of off the top of my head. I loved the tie straightening, of course, which wasn't a reference but still fan service for we tie fetishers. I'm not sure it can all be contributed to YB as some of the 'errors' would probably have been written in.

I suppose my brain can accept the difference in this case.
