It is so hot to see Modern Murdoch while odd to see what looks like some random person in the background dressed more in-character for the show.

Let's seriously hope season 5 does sort out the William /Julia thimg cos for me it completely detracted from the actual storylines during season 4. It will be interesting to see how William is extracated from the many problems he created for himself at the end of the last series! And if the producers say that people would lose interest in a couple getting together and continuing to work as a couple - remember Hart to Hart anyone?!! And who knows - maybe Julia can get pregnant afterall. Women rarely knew they couldn't have children after an abortion until they had failed after many years of trying.... Difficult to know why Julia should be any different and know she cant conceive...

Hi, on the point gwynhyfer made, did it seem odd to anyone else when Julia made such a big thing about not having any birth control method when William and Julia were on their picnic, if she knew she couldn't get pregnant? ( you may have covered this before, but as I say, I only joined this afternoon, sorry if this is the case)

Hi and welcome to the site! S5 will be in the UK next February sometime. You make a good point. I've been thinking that even today some people fall pregnant even if they've been told they can't have children. So they could have a baby and someone else said, how certain could you be in that era?

Here's my theory: Julia tells William they need a condom in The Green Muse before she visits Dr. Tasch again for reasons unknown in the next episode, Shades of Gray (when she also tells William about her abortion). I think that in TGM she may not yet have known that her abortion had left her sterile, even though she probably already knew that it was possible since she's a doctor herself. After her encounter with William and thinking she might get serious about him, she revisited Dr. Tasch to find out for sure (or as sure as one could be). Also since she's a doctor and up on the latest medical news she was probably also concerned about STDs. This period was when the medical community was just beginning to understand how they are transmitted. After TGM, she knew that William had been friendly with a madam (Ettie) so it was something to consider.

There was an online chat with writer Cal Coons and Jonny Harris (George Crabtree) a couple of weeks ago. They suggested there would be a hockey episode and some time in the Yukon in S5. It's probably archived. I posted the link in another thread.

If they happily resolve the Wm & Julia estrangement it would be the end of a pretty significant part of the show. Do you want the show to end at 5 seasons? Be careful what you wish for.
As for air dates it is on Citytv's schedule for September but it is 9pm Sunday (instead of 10pm Wednesday) and could be repeats. Likely will be. But with production starting in July they could have episodes for September. Maybe. But that would run season 4 almost into the start of season 5. So maybe not new episodes in September. It would be nice to finally have the show on domestically before it goes international. I can wish.
If the typical time progression is maintained Murdoch Mysteries will move into a new century in season 5 as season 4 spanned late 1898 and early 1899 and the show started in 1895. Viva 1900 !

I don't think they'd do that too quickly. Probably not until the middle of the season that they'd be working together again without awkwardness. I'm sure they won't get back together until at least the end of S5. But I do think they could do lots of interesting stuff with them while they're together, too.

I'm still hoping it starts airing in the U.S.!

darn Hannikan you beat me to it! i had just read an article in the Toronto Star and it mentioned the premiere is going to take place in the Yukon. it also mentioned that Yannick was having the time of his life mountain biking in the area. i wonder if he was in costume at the time. that would have been quite the sight. oh and apparantly Aaron Ashmore is going to be playing the writer Jack London who wrote Call of the Wild.

Ha, sorry! I'm looking forward to the premiere, too. I heard that 3 months are supposed to have passed between the S4 finale and the S5 premiere.
