Hi All I am so glad to have finally found a Murdoch discussion board. I got into MM about 4 years ago when a friend loaned me the the DVD's. I have since bought the box set. Here in Australia we do get MM but only on pay TV. So Thank goodness for streaming or I would be in conniptions if I couldn't get a regular dose of Murdoch goodness. I am also a major Doctor Who and Torchwood fan and have fantasies about Captain Jack or the Doctor popping into Toronto 1900's. What a hoot that would be. Any way... hope to catch up with many of you on the boards. Cheers, Caroline

Hi all, I received MM Season One DVDs for my birthday last year, and I've been hooked ever since. I've always been a fan of Canadian TV and period dramas, so I just love the show. Like so many, I absolutely love William Murdoch! I'm a native Torontonian so the show has an extra personal interest for me. I may or may not be responsible for getting my family members and co-workers hooked on Murdoch, too... Anyway, looking forward to lots of discussion cheers.

Welcome, Caroline! I'm sure you'll enjoy these boards. I'm also a large Doctor Who and Torchwood fan. Captain Jack would be very naughty in the 1900s. He'd most likely flirt with Murdoch, Julia, and Emily at the same time.

Welcome Destiny! I've gotten my mom hooked on MM, too. And a couple of friends, too.

Hello fellow fans! I'm herein British Columbia. I love this show! I have just discovered it only a few months back, so I have a lot of catching up to do. This show is the best thing I've seen on TV for a long time. The stories are excellent, I love all the gorgeous characters and really love how polite everyone is to one another ... Very refreshing! Looking forward to future discussions.

Hello everyone!
New Murdoch fan here from the US (eastern Iowa) and I am very happy to have discovered Murdoch Mysteries. I am a fan of Victorian history as well as a cyclist. Obviously, Murdoch would appeal to me! I was turned on to MM by friends on a steampunk board who mentioned Murdoch and his bicycle, which is how I decided to watch the show. Been on a binge getting caught up and I just finished season 4 tonight.
My other interests include yoga (I am a certified instructor) and baseball, a game I rather love to watch. I am also the coordinator for our local transgender support group and also provide outreach to schools and businesses regarding TG issues.

Hi! I'm not new to message boards (I frequent the TrekBBS and others), but I'm new to this one.
I've been following Murdoch Mysteries for quite some time. I began years ago watching episodes periodically, but the last few years I've gotten into it more heavily. I got around to collecting the Season sets on Blu-RAy (I've got the first five seasons so far) and I'm looking forward to adding Seasons 6 and 7 to my library when I can. About a year ago I got around to watching the previous three made-for-TV features and I found them quite different from the series. No wonder because soon after I read all the original books and those features are more like the books than the television series. One thing I really liked about the books and the features was their edgier approach and looking at the not so romantic aspects of late 19th century society. It really created a tone to the setting. The characters are also quite different in the books.
That said I love the series. Over the past few years I've lost interest in much of television. I used to watch Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU almost religiously, but now the interest has passed. I love Murdoch Mysteries on so many levels. I quite like all the major characters. I like Murdoch's procedural approach to criminal investigations. I love the period setting along with the general societal behaviour that goes with it in setting a unique tone and flavour to the stories, being so refreshingly different from most contemporary programming. I also really like the touch of science fiction that crops up every so often giving the show an occasional H.G. Wells' like sensibility. Very cool.
Presently Murdoch Mysteries is the only regular network series I watch. I do watch a few other shows on specialty channels, namely Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire and Game Of Thrones.

Hi, I'm from America and came across this great show thanks to promos on cable station here called Ovation. they call it The Artful Detective though. only up to the 2 episode of the 4th season this week. I've gotten my friend to watch it. Saw the show on Netflix only the 1st 3 seasons. On there it has a few extra mins we don't get on cable. Those few mins can make a difference. Only thing I can say bad is about the editing, there are points I gone for the remote for the DVR only to realize there is not a commercial break. Oh well, good show. Hope Ovation keeps playing it till the end, not like Fame or Smash where it stopped in the middle. I'd be really mad.

...here called Ovation. they call it The Artful Detective though. I've heard about that and I just don't get why they would change the name of the series, and I suppose all the work to change the opening credits. I might understand if it was being translated into a language other than English.

So the name change fits, but when me & my friend talk about it we use the original.

Odd I know, but I'm just happy they keep airing it unlike others.

Hello all you great American fans! I have been reading your intros and one thing really caught my attention! Did they actually change the opening credits for airing on Ovation? One thing I am really grateful for is that since day 1, the music and opening scenes have not changed. They are great! I have to side with those who do not agree with the name change. Like Maureen Jennings said in an interview, it evokes parody such as "The Artful.....Dodger?"

I wouldn't know, eus. Even though I'm an American fan, I found it through Netflix. Ovation doesn't come through on our television package.
