I may have found a blooper. The Toronto Archives tweeted a picture today of the old City Hall, circa 1900, before the clock was installed, here: ow.ly/i/8LKuW . This episode takes place in 1899 and the shots were fired to coincide with and be masked by the City Hall clock striking noon...... Wow interesting catch!

Another ep a day! 1. They were both so happy to see each other. D'aww break my heart And William was such an awkward turtle with that handshake. If only Julia hadn't been so stubborn and listened to William she could have had an explanation... I wonder when he eventually told her? 2. Tsk, Emily stepping in and correcting him for saying Julia. Stay out of it honey. 3. Someone mentioned this reminded them of the JFK assassination and it does me as well! 4. I wonder if Darcy put any pressure on Julia to leave working at the morgue. 5. That was definitely an admission of Julia's feelings and I hope William took it as such. I feel like he might doubt things within relationships that aren't presented to him exactly so.

If only Julia hadn't been so stubborn and listened to William she could have had an explanation... I wonder when he eventually told her? It's been a long time since I watched this ep, so I need to watch it again. Did you get the sense Julia was parading the fact she was married, i.e. - "see what you let happen/let get away..." I found William's treatment of Emily odd in early episodes. He put her down a lot even though she was just the sort of data geek he should have a blast working with. He should be GRATEFUL to have Emily after the Dr. Francis experience. I don't think it's because Emily displaced Julia, either. There's no hint of jealousy there. The writers seem to have been trying to create a vibe of hierarchy, age difference and class difference. Perhaps they were riffing on William's grammar-correcting perfectionism, too (though he had always spared Julia of that - in theory because he was being a gentleman. Or perhaps because he knew Julia's tongue was so sharp that he would be cut down in an instant.) Anyway, it didn't really work because we expected William to be more humble because of his class origins and more of a gentleman because of the way he treated Julia and more kind because of the way he treated people in general. He seemed to be targeting Emly for some particular criticism. I'm glad William dropped his 'tude after a few episodes.

She made comments to George about Julia's happiness in her marriage and corrected him when he referred to her by her first name rather than Doctor Ogden. That's the only thing I can figure for why he wasn't so fond of her, heck, he was plain rude to her.
