Yes, Julia is back in ep 7 which is the first of the 2 parter with Anna. I agree with most of the comments here and I think it is due to the new writers this season. Maybe they need more time to settle in and get under the skin of the characters. I think the romance between George and Dr Grace has been rushed and they don't have the chemistry of William and Julia. Looking forward to later episodes when Julia returns and we can see that chemistry at work again!

Yeah, not only do they not have the chemistry of William and Julia (or even William and Anna) but they don't have the chemistry George has had with all his other love interests.

I always enjoy an episode with Terrence Meyers. Sorry I haven't been around. I ran into "dry eye" of all things so I am not on the computer very much...maybe once every other day. Anyhoo, not to get sidetracked, I really enjoyed this episode. Terrence is a great recurring character who always brings an exciting plot. I liked that he and Murdoch went undercover. Higgins, eek, I was like, "noo, don't kill off Higgins. If you're gonna kill off anyone, get rid of that new doctor."
I don't have anything against the new pathologist in general. She just isn't all that interesting. A very bad attempt on the writers' part to make her half Ruby and half Miss Moffet. If the writers try do a George/Dr. Grace romance, I'll snooze during those scenes. Sorry to be so harsh, very sorry. But the writers have more than proven after the Julia/William fiasco that they are not capable of writing romances. I say stay away from every single romance and just be MM--the reason I started watching in the first place. Heck, if they wanna do a romance, do one with Higgins/Crabtree. At least they have chemistry. Plus, it sure beats the boring ol' male/female romances they keep attempting that fail big time.
Of course City switched the airing day again. It's now on Tuesday instead of Wednesday. City annoys me big time.

I really enjoyed the episode and it was really interesting. I knew that Terence Meyers was going to back so it wasn't a total surprise for me when I saw him. Even if I hadn't known I wouldn't suprised either. That seems to come back for one episode every season of the show. I still don't trust the guy even if he does work for the Prime Minister. One of the things that I like the most was how William put alot of trust into George to solve the case while he was undercover. I loved how he encouraged George throughout the case, especially when George interogated the suspect. You really saw how much William believed in George and I really enjoyed that part of the episode.
Is it just me or did you get the feeling that George and Emily might start a romance or something? If that would happen it would be like a mirror image of William and Julia. It would be just too weird if that were to happen. As much as I like Emily I would rather see George with Ruby.

To felicity18,
I have been reading your reviews about the episodes of season 5 and it is interesting to have a fresh perspective given that we have been commenting about them a few months ago so I am enjoying reading your point of view considering you just saw them. The first episodes of the season didn't do much for me as I thought they were lacking something even if I couldn't always put my finger on what it was. For me the season picks up in about a couple of episodes and also I miss Julia when she is not in an episode, I think having the entire cast together is what makes an episode stronger (for me anyway).
So I am looking forward discovering your reviews so we can share comments and impressions.
Take care

I really like this episode, I would love to be able to watch it again, since I've only seen it once, but for some reason cityline and cbc both haven't rerun the episode, and I can't find it anywhere online. If someone knows a link to this episode, could they please post it?

I love Terrence Myers in this one, especially his attentions to one of the anarchist women. The expression on his face when she tells him about the Apaches is priceless. And I always chuckle when he feigns being injured later so she could attend to him. By the way, I believe the Apaches are this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Apaches. I wonder if she was talking about Ravel!

Another ep a day! I'm super tired so this is not a full effort from me today 1. George really does do his best all of the time. The fact the he was injured from a bomb and was still trying to help William. When George came back he looked just fine and completely uninjured- no scabs or bruises! 2. I really liked seeing George & Henry do something more serious. Especially Henry he never gets to! 3. Why was William sitting on the stairs, I feel that's out of character for him. Just such a random thing for him to do! 4. Emily was definitely speaking about accepting loving whomever you want as if it had a personal connection to her! 5. It was great that William was willing to let George take charge!

Did anyone notice that in at least one scene Giles was wearing a wedding band? After he was revealed to be a homosexual, it nagged at me that I was sure I'd seen a wedding ring. In many scenes however you can't see his left hand, particularly when he is carrying his cap tucked up to his side. However, in the first few episodes he was in, when I saw his hand, it was bare. The scene was the one where he is standing next to Brax looking at the bomb parts. There was at least one other episode where you can catch a glimpse, The Murdoch Trap. I wondered if Nigel Bennett occasionally forgot to take his band off when filming.

Well the Victorians had this thing called a Dearest Ring - perhaps Giles got over his betrayal and had a little flng...? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dearest_ring

I had assumed that Giles had entered into a marriage of convinience to hide his homosexuality.....he may have already been married when he had the affair......that certainly wasn't unheard of.......Oscar Wilde was married with a couple of children....

Giles wore a wedding ring in Murdoch in Wonderland. I had assumed he was married. Certainly they have never mentioned a wife but again they didn't say he was not married. In Murdochophobia there was a marriage of convience. Who is to say Giles didn't have the same.
