Giles wore a wedding ring in Murdoch in Wonderland. I had assumed he was married. Certainly they have never mentioned a wife but again they didn't say he was not married. In Murdochophobia there was a marriage of convience. Who is to say Giles didn't have the same. Ah good someone else has seen the ring! Yes I certainly considered he could have been in a marriage of convenience, although considering how personal his conversation with Murdoch became when he admitted his homosexuality, I would have thought it to be mentioned. And the ring seemed to come and go as far as I've been able to tell. But it's TV, and as Christina Jennings mentioned in one of the panels, they don't really have long planning cycles for minor characters (Sally Pendrick was the topic I think).

Did anyone notice that in at least one scene Giles was wearing a wedding band? After he was revealed to be a homosexual, it nagged at me that I was sure I'd seen a wedding ring. In many scenes however you can't see his left hand, particularly when he is carrying his cap tucked up to his side. However, in the first few episodes he was in, when I saw his hand, it was bare. The scene was the one where he is standing next to Brax looking at the bomb parts. There was at least one other episode where you can catch a glimpse, The Murdoch Trap. I wondered if Nigel Bennett occasionally forgot to take his band off when filming. I had assumed that Giles had entered into a marriage of convinience to hide his homosexuality.....he may have already been married when he had the affair......that certainly wasn't unheard of.......Oscar Wilde was married with a couple of children.... "Marriage of convenience" was my first thought, too - but that would seriously complicate his going to prison, and no one was bringing that up as a consequence of Giles's situation. Perhaps she sadly died at some point. Giles is not a spring chicken.
