I watched Seasons 1-3 streaming on Netflix, then did Netflix dvds for 4-6. I wish I had known about Acorn for all of it though...I probably would have sped through much faster than what I did! The unfortunate thing about Acorn is that it's not super up-to-date; they won't be airing Season 8 until 2015. Hopefully some of the "less than legal" sites will have it up sooner!

Acorn TV started streaming S7 the first week of June, just a short while after S7 ended in Canada. That's fast service for me, although we will have to wait 10 months for S8 on Acorn. CBC S8 episode synopses will have to make do until then. MM on FB and CBC and this forum also help ease the withdrawal pangs while also watching S1-S7 DVD's. Totally hopeless about MM, I reckon.

I was so happy to find the Artful Detective on the Ovations channel here in the US...However, they cut out parts of the broadcast. I watched "Bloodlust", and they cut out the part where the young girl that killed her schoolmate, came to William's room, and tried to seduce him. I am not sure if the episodes will be current on Ovations channel when S8 starts. I am even sadder that they feel that they have to cut the episodes up, most likely to insert more commercial time. Hmmm, I have always wanted to move to Toronto anyway!

Hmmm, I have always wanted to move to Toronto anyway! Holy cats, why would they cut out that part? I have a feeling that's part of why they had to change the title of the series, though - to give them "permission" to modify it as they see fit to stuff in more commercials, etc. That's sad Ovation viewers might not know what content they are missing. Even worse, they might miss elements that are important to the telling of the story or character development. Also, they might not understand what Canadian or other International fans are discussing on forums or Facebook. Another boneheaded move on Ovation's part: they are putting what they "want" in front of the what the fan's want, and hence the way REALITY is going to work out for them. I don't really want to promote illegal viewing of MM because I feel it puts people's computers at risk as well as depriving content creators of their just remuneration. But, seriously, the content creators/producers need to find better ways to deliver that content to the people who want access to it. Charging premium prices for DVDs a year after the season has aired does not count as viable "access", either. On the up side, the Acorn model is getting closer, and I am a fan of a la carte TV. If my housemate's head wasn't stuck in the 20th century I'd do cable cutting all together and do some sort of digital a la carte package. He's still committed to overpaying for sports, though. (Tennis! ) But, should I be able to make this move in the future, I can say in advance that I don't like the idea of having to go a lot of places for my shows and the prospect of the costs stacking up to "cable" level. It would be good to gather the providers into a convenient "marketplace" and try to streamline it as much as possible for the end user.

I live in the states and I have been able to watch Murdoch Mysteries on my iPad by downloading the tunnelbear app. I fork out the $$ for unlimited streaming so I can watch the newest episodes from the CBC website. The app lets me change the VPN for 13 countries, so I can watch some Of the England shows too.
I travel so no matter where I am, I have the latest episodes at my fingertips.

I've been trying a DSN this past week which has been good, but it's good to know of other options. I'll look into this. Edit: This was post 500-I'm a deity now!!!!

Ooh nice - I received some other recommendations about VPNs, too. In related news, the price of Season 7 is starting to go down at Amazon, for those who are tracking that for the Christmas season.

All this talk has gotten me thinking about how we're going to chatter, or not, once S8 starts given so many on the forum will not be able to watch in any predictable way for some time . Thoughts anyone?

Congrats oh newest Goddess on high! All this talk has gotten me thinking about how we're going to chatter, or not, once S8 starts given so many on the forum will not be able to watch in any predictable way for some time . Thoughts anyone? Last season was odd because all the British people vanished of the board because of spoilers. Then they more or less didn't return. I've been wondering if they will come back, or if they migrated to Facebook because of the very problem you are talking about. I try to watch the new eps the same time as people in Canada. I don't think anything really changes for the forum. The people who watched the ep start posting in that episode's thread, and the people who haven't seen it yet avoid the thread.

OK, I don't remember on which thread I was talking about which season Ovation is up to now, but having done a little research, I've discovered (as I'm sure all you American fans have) that we're just upon the conclusion of Season 6 here. Does anyone know if Ovation will at least start showing Season 7 episodes? Thanks! xxx
