OK, I don't remember on which thread I was talking about which season Ovation is up to now, but having done a little research, I've discovered (as I'm sure all you American fans have) that we're just upon the conclusion of Season 6 here. Does anyone know if Ovation will at least start showing Season 7 episodes? Thanks! xxx I was on their website earlier this week, and I want to say it's sometime in the next couple of weeks. Sorry, don't remember the exact date, but it was not long after the premiere of season 8 in Canada.

Thanks! xxx I have watched MM on Ovation channel also, but as I had mentioned earlier, Ovation cuts a few minutes out of the program and inserts extra commercials. It really irritates me because having seen the entire episode, it is really obvious when parts are cut out. I wonder if we will have to wait for the entire season 8 to be completed, before we can see the episodes on Acorn. Wouldn't it be great if we could watch each episode a week after they are aired?
I am in US but if we could find some way to get MM to air in America, the series fan base would really soar. There are so many fans that want to see MM but live outside Canada, or do not have the ability to get CBC. Hmmm.. . Where there's a will, there is a way. It surely cannot hurt to poke around a little can it?

You would need to subscribe to the VPN in order to have enough bandwidth to watch as the episodes are around 1-2 GB each.

It transmits MM in glorious color. On the Waterfront part one, was more intense than their normal fare, but I liked it a lot. It is also interesting to be able to access news information, etc from a Canadian point of view. A lot goes on in Canada that the normal American hasn't a clue about. Thanks again.

I never watch news from American stations. If you want true perspective, watch it from several sources, all non-American. Still can't make Hola VPN work for me, though.

Thank you, we just found this out a couple weeks ago! I was wondering how soon these episodes are posted on Acorn. The other problem for US viewer is that we can't watch with our friends in Canada and participate in all the Twitter fun. Also on the down side: this is not a good format for older generation viewers who don't use their computers to watch TV. One of the nice things about Murdoch Mysteries is it has things to offer different generations, without offending or chasing off anyone, so it can bring a family together (even across the country, if it gives you something in common you can chat about with your mom - no that's totally not me I'm referring to). I agree with you completely. I am actually considering joining Twitter so I can follow Yannick and the whole gang...hopefully so that one of them will drop a timely clue as to where they are filming and I can rush myself there to watch.! I had read what you said about checking out TWITTER. Logged onto YB's account. You're right, he has interesting stuff there. I was just astonished when he actually answered me directly. I asked how he learned to ride a horse so well, he said GOLD and No Life for a Cowboy..(did I get that title right)? After his daughter posted her video "15 things you never knew about my Dad, Yannick"... I asked him if he screened the girls' boyfriends? He said, "Like my daughter said, I can throw an axe". I thought that was pretty good. I had never tweeted? before, much less have anyone answer me. They sure did something right as parents, Mickaela seems like a wonderfully centered and charming young woman.

To find out where they're filming you can check the local papers in the towns they usually film, Hamilton, Cambridge and Brantford. They usually post what's being filmed where. On Oct 28 they'll be filming in St. Mary's, west of Stratford. Not too bad a drive for me but unfortunately my bitch may be having pups that day....

I was kind of surprised when I went to the Acorn site to play a Murdoch episode like I have done for so long. All of a sudden, Murdoch was pulled out of their collection. Apparently you now have to have Roku in order to play any episodes. I wonder why they did that?

Wow, that's sad. Well, content providers are making new deals all the time, which is what creates massive frustration for viewers and drives them to fend for themselves on the gray and black markets.
I have mixed feelings. I think distributor monopolies are bad for both consumers and content creators. But I don't think consumers should be exposed to this level of complication and inconvenience. Perhaps there could be some trusted digital tv portal that hides all the BS and gives people universal access to digital content, paid and free.

Roku must have paid Acorn for this deal, because I think it will cost Acorn viewers in the short term - though it *may* gain them viewers through Roku, *if* Roku can sell itself as a real alternative to the cable/satellite box in the future. Still - very bad news for MM fans unless Netflix came in and picked up the slack by purchasing all seasons. I hate to support Netflix as a quasi-monopoly that screwed the DVD customer base that it built it's business on, but they are probably the best platform for legally distributing MM in a widespread way. If Netflix could get MM premieres same-day, I'd consider getting a membership again. Though I'm still mad about how Netflix tried to bully DVD customers into their streaming business and made them subsidize said business.
