She's only slated to write one episode in S6. I think she should stick to the books myself. She does a great job with them but based on this episode, it doesn't translate to screenwriting.

Oh, I never read the books, Hannikan but I hope the writers are not gonna do something stupid in season 6. For me to buy the DVD's, it would have to be an exceptionnal ending to the show and not just like other shows tried to do it before. I never buy DVD's now until the very end of the series. I learnt my lessons. One example, I love Lost but the last 10 minutes disappointed me so much and because of that I never had the passion to buy the series. Shame! I really hope I can buy MM series when it is finished in like seaon 8 or 9, or 10!!!!! but I will wait until the very end. Next week looks good. I just hope it's not the only good one left in season 5!. I hope Julia will be in every episode for season 6( Please Helen, be here, you are a lead character in MM and we miss u). She brings so much with her opiniated and strong mind and I would love to follow where her story about contraception and other things lead to.

Yeah, I wonder if the contraception stuff will even be addressed again in S5. We'll see.

This was an interesting sorta episode. It was quite dark and resembled the mood in the books. I will admit I didn't care for the Murdoch dying part. I'd rather he would have just solved the murder. And I expected him to at least see Liza during his near death experience. Instead, he finds the murder weapon??? That confused me. Also, I couldn't figure out who injected him.
With the dark mood and rainy setting, I expected so much more, something along the lines of the made-for-tv Murdoch movies. I can't put my finger on why it fell flat. It must be the near death dream part.
Because of the near death thing, I would have preferred if the episode would have focussed on Brackenreid and Crabtree--breaking out the guns, going on a chase to stop the razor who has run off with the star witness, Crabtree held at gunpoint by the razor, Brackenreid having to save Crabtree, etc. Something along those lines.
Anyway, I didn't dislike the episode. It was interesting. I just could have done without the Murdoch finding his clue while almost dead.

To Nugget,
I think a lot of people are of the same opinion as you, myself included. As much as I think it is an intriguing episode, I was confused by the all thing and unless I have a bit more explanation or information about it to watch it with that knowledge I can't say I liked it but maybe the story was a "try something different" kind of thing but I didn't get the point.
Now as for next week that is an episode that I absolutely LOVE!!!! I can't wait to discuss more about it once Canadian viewers have seen it

I signed up for this forum shortly after viewing this episode. I don't understand the "Divine Vision" at all. And I'm a pretty smart person with relevant academic degrees and such. Could someone enlighten me? Oooh, perhaps it had something to do with William's hat being missing. And he was wet again at the same time! Just a coincidence...?

I think I finally figured this one out. The William with the cards is merely to symbolize fate: he is frozen in the moment and at the turn of the card he will either live or die (whether Dr. Grace saves him or not). This has nothing to do with Heaven. The viewer is not in on the "vision of Heaven" at all. BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!! That was super confusing!!!! I would like to know what William thinks is in Heaven! If you subtract the part about not seeing Heaven, this was an okay episode. What are people complaining about?

Oh wow! You finally explained that scene to me! I always just thought it was really strange and out of place but if that wasn't actually his vision of heaven it makes soooo much more sense!

Another ep a day! 1. This was a nice look into Emily's personality. She had kinda been Julia 2.0 until this point. 2. I absolutely love George drinking and ranting about William. The Inspector looked like he immediately regretted setting that off. 3. George really does have a keen eye and great intuition. He's often very indispensable to saving the day! 4. I wonder if Emily has a thing for people named Lillian! 5. I want to know what William saw in heaven! He stayed in his office all night writing about it so it must have been really great!

This episode was just on and I have to admit it's not one of my favourites. In response to Lea's observations: 1. Agreed, but her Wednesday Addams thing was very present. 2. It's nice that Brackenreid has a drinking buddy every once in a while. 3. What I really liked was that Brackenreid did not hesitate when George said, "Sir, arm yourself." As far as I can recall that is the ONLY time Brackenreid has not had some derogatory comment about George's thinking. 4. I wondered the same thing. Did the writers even realize they had given the same name to 2 of the most important women in Emily's life? Here's where a bible would come in handy. 5. Me too. That scene has always mystified me...no Liza, no mother, no pearly gates...I think Snacky has it right. The audience isn't supposed to know what he saw. The writers have certainly kept themselves out of some potential hot water and controversy with viewers by not representing heaven in any specific way.

I just hope that what viewers saw wasn't his idea of heaven, it's a boring place if that's it and William's idea of wonderful is pretty absurd.
