This is the episode Maureen Jennings, the original author of the Murdoch Mysteries books, wrote. The title is kind of elusive and I feel like I have no idea what will happen. If it's a card game, you'd think Margaret would be involved.

Actually Maureen co-wrote it with Peter Mitchell.

She's listed as the writer solely but I'm sure there was some collaboration involved. Still it's considered the episode that she wrote. www.imdb.com/title/tt2129478/She's also supposed to be writing an episode in S6.

Very interesting Hannikan, Do u think it could be something to do with phobia and unconsciousness then? That would b very unusual !!! Specially when we know that that person is not scared of anything, pretty much ,specially dealing with death!! I certainly cant wait to see it. Lets wait for some more spoilers.

Well, I'm a little confused by what Maureen's husband said about the subject matter of the story she wrote. Here's what he said: "This coming Tuesday night on UKTV Alibi for Murdoch Mysteries is Maureen's episode "Staircase to Heaven" which was co written with Peter Mitchell. Maureen wrote the A story . . . the main story . . . so it is mostly her episode. Nevertheless it is stellar and quite from the period. Deals with people who enjoyed traveling to "near death" experiences . . . The Victorians dabbled with that stuff . . . very unusual very unique. Maureen's first script on the show . . . she's writing another this year . . . " Given that Victorians were petrified by the idea of being buried alive it's odd that it sounds like the story involves people doing it by choice. I don't know, we'll just have to see what happens!

Ok so, seems like Staircase to Heaven and Murdoch in Toyland may b 2 episodes kind of linked to each other or following each other perhaps like the green muse and Shades of Grey perhaps on the continuity of the lead characters. I quite like spooky episodes so would b a change from invention convention which was a funny one I suppose! I cant wait for some drama and tension between the lead characters now and I really would like to see all the lead characters interacting with each other like in previous seasons., Would b really great to b back to what MM used to because I really enjoyed the first 4 seasons.

I didnt really like it. The location was just the pub or whatever. We visited 2 rooms in the entire episodes.....thought it was a bit boring and I didnt understand what Murdoch saw on the other side. He said Heaven but all I saw was himself looking at himself at the card table.Hope that Emily will quit her job. She is even more spooky now. She deals with death everyday of her life and she still wants to live in the dark doing those near death experiences. I find that really weird. Another nothing episode according to me . The near death experience could have been so much better. and on the other side we have Georges and Thomas stuck at station 4 with 2 weird guys, one called the razor . We saw nothing of what that murderer did. Stuck at station 4 because of a storm too and They stayed in one place in the whole episode. They even didnt put the 2 guys in the jail cells. They prefered to have them upstairs drinking alcohol with them. Well, the razor didnt want to drink but what an episode!!!

So I'm guessing the buried alive stuff happens in Murdoch in Toyland then. That makes more sense and I think I know who will have been buried alive. I haven't gotten to see Staircase to Heaven yet. I had an interview today and another tomorrow so it will have to wait until after that.

I actually did enjoy it a lot, I didn't know where the episode was going and who did it for that matter until the end, and I was on the edge when William was in the bathtub. I quite enjoyed the interaction between George and Brackenreid I must say, these two are really cracking me up. As for doctor Grace I don't really know what to think of her. She was getting on my nerves in this episode because she seemed so angry most of the time (except when she was talking about the death of her friend I quite liked that). I don't know if it is the way the character is written but I don't really connect to Emily Grace I think she lacks warmth and humor. Most of the time I am fine when she is not appearing. On another subject, can't wait for next week episode, I know that Julia is back in this one for sure and from what I saw I will be again on the edge of my seat . But I will keep myself from looking at any spoilers to enjoy the discovery to the fullest!!

Me too, I am glad Julia is back. She has a better sense of humor than Doctor Grace. I still dont understand what William saw on the other side. I know he saw doctor Grace's friend for a short time but she didnt answer his question of who killed her or any clue unless it was the card she left behind on the table, then he saw himself at the table but its hardly Heaven. Dont understand why he said to Emily that he saw Heaven!! And Emily must be a very bad card player then if she hasnt experienced the near death experience and had to ask Murdoch to find out what was out there. I thought she would have had the opportunity to try at least once since they meet once a year to play that card game for the "right to die" and see before being brought back to life. Obviously, I knew Murdoch was going to be brought back. I cant believe he actually fell in the bathtub when he got injected from the back because it was a boig room, and they were enough room for him to fall elsewhere than the bathtub!!!! Do u think he actually wanted to try deep down and purposely fell in it or was it an accident that he fell straight in it!!!! Something else I dont get, he fell face down, so he should have been facing down in the bath, and then a moment later, we saw him in the bathtub, facing up..hummmm!!! then he was discovered, so no one turned him around , so how come he was facing up!!! purely for the camera shot, i suppose because we had to see his face and not the back of his head!!! Anyway, hope Julia is back for good and for the rest of the season. Hope big things will happen to create suspense, tension, drama, some joy too and a bit of romance, pretty please.
