OMG talk about making the viewers happy. That ending was so romantic. And there is no way they can possibly not have W/J together in S6 considering they are now back together. Yay!!!!
catymurdoch, you were right. Julia has left Darcy, though I still think Darcy will probably die so they'll be no wedding issues for W/J. I am so happy they are back together. This episode showed how right they are together, how right she is she working in the station and how good it is to have the whole team together. And Julia will be a profiler, she said so herself.
This whole episode was really great, as great as Murdoch in Toyland, the ending was even better. And it would have made a beautiful ending to the entire show. I just hope they don't somehow break W/J up again in S6. Julia's marriage is over, Darcy let her go. And William wants her as his future, them and a child. They can't and shouldn't mess them up again. They've done that too many times already. It's time they were a solid couple overcoming work, her marriage issues, and child issues in the next series. They have put aside the will-they-won't-they element, at least I hope they have. But one thing is certain they will definitely be a couple at the start of the next series, now just leave them that way.
I wasn't quite sure about making Dr Roberts a bit of a baddie. Okay he had his reasons because of his health but him and his brother were responsible for a man's death. Really nice to see Higgins and Margaret at the New Years Eve party at the end. Shame the annoying chief constable was there being a whiner as usual. I was scared Brackenreid was actually going to leave, thankfully he didn't so no need to invent a way for him to come back. I smiled when Julia was the one inventing something this time, the term super hero. Great episode from start to finish. Thankfully S5 didn't go out on a whimper. Even if I literally only liked three episodes for the whole series, this one has redeemed the entire thing for me. Though I am still dubious about G/E as a romance, I still feel they have no chemistry, but at least they were a bit cuter. And I sadly don't think G/E will be going away, as they ended on a date and a cheek kiss. Which means they are the next will-they-won't-they of the show, obviously. But I'll live with that so long as W/J are finally allowed to be together from now on. Seeing them get married would be lovely.

Hip hip Hooray and Happy new year and night to William and Julia who are back together now :)That was a super episode and a brilliant ending to season 5. The time machine may not have been real as it was pure deception and they were all in seizure and a world of fantasie inside it. Murdoch fantasizing about having a son with Julia was brilliant. But the rest is all real and I am so happy with that. The last scene when Julia turned up at the ball to join lonely Murdoch was fabulous. At last we didnt have to wait season 6 for her to part from Darcy. It's over and she said it to William. I loved the fact that she hesitated to start with with the excuse of being a psychiatrist from now on and help William in his investigation. I am so glad he interrupted her and kissed her and she didn't hesitate to kiss him back. In fact , I saw more than I thought I would have .The scene of so many kisses in front of the bay window with the firework in the background was absolutely so romantic and they looked to happy. They just couldn't stop kissing and didn't care one bit about anyone who may have been watching them.I am pretty sure they are now going to celebrate into the night and carry on the non stop kissing all night long. A part from that great W/J resolution, I was glad to see that Doctor Roberts had a huge part in that episode and his brother was just trying to help him . The time machine was a great decoy and I am glad that he froze Robert to hopefully get cured in the future. At least the freezing machine was real. But both of them were genius to come up with such a great plan by buiding a fake time machine, but in fact the real thing was the freezing machine off stage to save Doctor Roberts. George was really happy that Emily came to the ball after all and I am glad that Brackenreid decided not to accept that other job and decided to stay at station 4 Happy new 20th century to all station 4 and a great night ahead for William and Julia.

One thing I did find funny was how at the end while William/Julia are passionately kissing in the middle of the ball, and Brackenreid, George and Emily stood around them but didn't give them a glance. As far as all them are concerned Julia is a married woman so it's hardly normal for her to be sucking face with Murdoch in public lol. I guess because they all thought they were meant to be together, and Emily kind of said early in the series she didn't think the marriage would last, they just didn't care and were more interested in the fireworks.

Brackenreid did glance if u look at the scene again but as U said, they all assumed they should be together anyway . I suppose they were just happy for them and enjoyed the firework. I think that by knowing that William and Julia were kissing right next to them, prompt Emily to give George a kiss on the cheek. By the way,William and Julia kissed 8 times altogether, which is a lot but perhaps not on New year eve. OMG and that scene between Julia and Darcy. That was so tense and she was so uncomfortable getting ready to go with Darcy. She even swore by dropping her earring, lol. The look on her face in the mirror as she was trying to put her earring on was really sad. I am glad that Darcy told her to go and be with the one she wishes to start the new century with. I think she was then relieved. I supose at that time, the woman had to wait for the husband to break up the marriage!! I wonder if Julia would have gone to Darcy new year eve party if he would have said nothing. Anyway, I am glad we saw that scene and I knew then she would turn up at the police ball and the setting was so beautiful and appropriate for a great W/J romantic and passionate moment once she had finished talking non stop to explain why she was there to him first. William looked so sweet when he told her that when he saw the future, it was her he saw with him, and I loved the fact that he pulled her towards him to kiss her. It was nice to see Julia slightly uncomfortable talking to William first of all and him puzzled at why she was there when she was supposed to be with her husband on New year's eve. The twinkles in his eyes said it all when she was unsure if he would want her back but for William, there is no other one . I am glad he reacted that way and didn't push her away but I knew he would'nt because he also knew that she loved him anyway. I think we will have a great season 6 and I think it will be very interesting to see Julia working alongside William as profiler as she said. She seems very excited about it but we know that William was not particularly interested in talking about that on New year's eve. All he wanted to do is kissing her and everything was allright with the world. So glad of a happy season5 ending and I wonder if season 6 will start like 3 months later and straight into a murder case with Julia as a profiler or if we will see a bit more of the fore play between William and Julia. I suppose it will start a few months after New year's eve and we will see them comfortable with each other like we saw them in Victor, victorian and probably with a bit of a disagrement from time to time and they will make out by the end. Anyway, shame that we have to wait for december now to see season 6. Don't know what I will be recording until now on tuesday night. I do watch other shows but that one is my favourite. And about Darcy, I thought the writers will leave him alone now but can they still divorce without any problem if they have parted and he decided it!!! Not sure how William and Julia could get married in the future? I suppose it looks like Darcy could see that Julia was unhappy and he told her to follow her dreams for the new century therefore, I don't think he will have a problem to sign the divorce papers and Julia will probably sign everything in like 1 second. lol

William and Julia can't get married if he stays a catholic. No priest will marry them. So the only answer is while in the middle of a divorce Darcy dies, or William converts to being a protestent. Then they could marry no problem. I honestly don't think he will let religion get in the way of their relationship again. While it will be hard for him, I think he would convert.
Darcy was a patronising sod, so I can't say I felt that much sympathy for him at the end. He never liked Julia's career choices, and he always wanted her to be more old fashioned. Everything was about what he wanted while they were married, so it's only right he gave her the choice in the end. He shouldn't have married her to begin with, he knew last series she loved William.

But William wanted to marry Julia at the end of season 3 , therefore he is willing to change religion to marry Julia. Would that be enough without Darcy dying if Darcy asked for the divorce as he suggested in that episode. Obviously, if he told Julia to go and meet William and b with him for the new century, it's because he wants a divorce for him and for her happiness too. He could see she was not happy with him and she didn't want to go to that party with him. they were already 30 minutes late because she couldn't get ready fast enough. And I agree that Darcy should have never married Julia because he knew that she loved William. But he did it anyway. Shame Julia didn't say NO at the church or Ruby could have spoken then but the writers wanted it that way because they knew that Helen was probably not available enough in season 5 and it was a great way to have her out the show when she was married to Darcy. Now, I am just glad its back to normal with the whole team back together and roll on season 6 with plenty of everyone at station 4 and William and Julia working together and no more Darcy, please.

When William wanted to marry Julia is S3 she wasn't divorced. Divorce is forbidden in the catholic religion. You will not be allowed to be remarried in a catholic church unless you are widowed. William would want a church wedding which means he will have to convert if Julia is a divorcee. There are no other options. And that won't be a simple thing for William, he loves being a catholic. But I don't doubt he would convert for her, I can't see that standing in their way. I can see an episode of him reaching that decision and I am sure Julia will feel guilty for having caused this by marrying Darcy when she knew it was a mistake. Though they are both to blame for the mess anyway, as they should both only ever have married each other.
I don't actually drink, but I'll drink over the internet for W/J lol. It's about time they were back in each others arms. The show never felt quite right with their romance on the backburner or with them having so many sad times apart.

I agree and everything is alright now. They will have just to take their time to get married, At least , she does not have to live with Darcy anymore and she can be with William anytime she wants. So, to get married is probably not a problem right now for them, they have each other to love for now and I am sure it's sufficient at the moment. When the time is right, they could get married but it should not be their priority right now. They will one day, when they can. They will just have to wait for the right time. I don't care as long as we don't see Darcy anymore because I don't want him to pester her or William for a reason or another. I hope he won't come back to her in one episode to apologise and want her back. Don't want to see him anymore. He could kill himself I suppose! because he can't bear a life without Julia if the writers want him dead to facilitate that Julia is a widow and can remarry. But I wouldn't like Julia and William to feel guilty about it if it was the case. Whatever happens, I don't think Julia and William will talk marriage for a while anyway because of what happened in the last year.

FINALLY ;D!!!!!! An ending of a season I am not going to scream or scrap my hair out of my scalp!!!! This episode was just great, the fast pace at the beginning with the Inspector being kicked in the gut, George falling in the snow I couldn't stop laughing. Also Julia was there a lot which I really loved, and her and William working together as a team like old times just felt natural!!!!! Loved it loved it loved it. I am glad that the time machine was a scam and that Murdoch is not becoming like a sy-fy show, I was really worried about that. And the scene of Julia with Darcy was so sad, you can see the misery in her eyes when when she was preparing herself but when she came to the ball to see William she was the opposite giddy with excitement!!! Even if it will be hard waiting for the next season that looks very promising now, I know that I can rewatch the episodes knowing W/J are happy at the end !!!!! A big cheer for this episode and for a very excited new season 6 that just started filming!!!!

IA it was lovely to have a series finishing on a nice ending instead of a frustrating cliffhanger like it had done for at least two years. It was worth the wait. It was brilliant to have Julia getting a big part in an episode. I had missed her working with the team. It felt right. I even accept Emily when Julia is around the episodes It somehow makes Emily seem more watchable, you don't resent her presence. I am doing a MM rewatch soon. Starting with the movies and watching right through to 513. It will take me weeks but now I know W/J are finally a proper couple I can watch the whole thing without huffing in frustration through the Julialess episodes and the annoying season endings. Though I can't see me ever liking any but three of S5 no matter what. This episode and Murdoch in Toyland prove MM is at it's best when W/J work together and have their romance around. S5 was a masterclass in what does and doesn't work on this show. Let's hope they take those lessons into S6, and continue what was in the finale.

Wow wow wow!!! YAYYYY finally W/J are reunited! So happy I can't believe they did that with Dr Roberts though he was a good character and I liked him!... I nearly panicked about Brackenreid leaving at the end but thankfully he didn't! I'm secretly hoping that Darcy is going to end up being a crazed lunatic!

I think I already said it, but when it comes to Julia I don't think William holds on too strongly onto the catholic convictions. Otherwise he wouldn't have been with her after she confessed that she wasn't a virgin anymore and that she she had an abortion. He also didn't seem too shocked when they arrested her because of her talks about contraception, which wasn't only against the catholic church, but also against the law at that time. And I can't express how glad I am that they are together again. Finally I can watch the show again without suffering in front of my screen. And the kind of prudish William didn't even mind kissing her in front of everyone. Even though legally she is still a married woman and not to him... Hopefully they won't break them up again next season, but let them stay together and grow together as a couple, maybe get married at some point. I'd really like to see that. I really want to see them bother happy again.

To chopina: I sent you a private message I hope it will help As for the episode as I mentioned before I loved everything about it. The entire cast working as a team again, the humour with the inspector, George and higgins, also the plot for the story I wondered for a while if a time machine and a trip to the future will change the show and I was happy to see that these writers are super smart and very talented to come up with these ideas. And don't get me started about the last scene, last night I saw it at least 10 times and I will do that again tonight for sure!!!! With an ending like this it is way easier to wait for an outstanding new season!!!
