I doubt Julia could have mistaken them breaking up for Darcy saying be with your friends lol. Though seriously, it is possible Darcy becomes a lot less reasonable now he has been dumped. It could be when he said what he did he was hoping she'd choose him. When she didn't he could get vindicitive. But Julia will get enough backlash from her family and friends even without her ex getting involved.
So that filming photo proves Helene is definitely back for S6? Yay!! Let's just hope it's every episode this time or at the most 2-3 Julialess episodes. S4 survived that long without, but S5 was a mess without her in over half the episodes.

Yeah good point, it was just a thought because he could tell that she didn't want to be wherever it was that he was going. Still I can't wait for the new season already which is ages away!

No idea about Canada but I suspect it will be Feb 2013 in the UK it's usually that time of year unless the CBC want to air it first

I hope Alibi get it first as always. I assume that won't change if Alibi are still partly financing the show.

Yeah good point, it was just a thought because he could tell that she didn't want to be wherever it was that he was going. Still I can't wait for the new season already which is ages away! Yeah, they were supposed to spend New Year's with the Lamott's. Julia did not like the Lamott's because Mr. Lamott was the one who discouraged Julia's promoting birth control. He was the balding guy from the hospital board at the party Julia and Darcy gave in Stroll on the Wild Side part 1. He was instrumental in promoting Darcy at the hospital but also ridiculed Darcy about Julia's modern ideas as if he needed to keep his wife in line. It seemed to be Lamott's influence that made Darcy regress about supporting Julia's ideas. Darcy seemed to be afraid of Lamott and became sort of his puppet. Darcy was weak when it came to standing up to the powers-that-be. I know Alibi is still airing the show for S6. It hasn't been confirmed when yet. It may actually air in Canada and the UK at the same time if the CBC doesn't dither around.

I don't think it will be since they started filming at the same time they normally do.

I thought of some favorite parts of the episode. I thought George and Emily's banter while lined up for the time machine was funny.
George to Thomas about the coal stain on the Santa suit: "That's very Murdochian if I may say, sir."
I liked the British actor that played Dr. Harms. He had a great voice. I liked hearing about women voting in 1912. Of course, this was just in local elections. Women wouldn't get the right to vote in national elections in Canada until much later.
The mathematical discussion between William and Dr. Harms were great esp. when in the middle of the second one Thomas gets on the phone and says, "Get me the lunatic asylum."
I liked seeing Julia and William debate science, too. And the discussion of multiple futures. It was alluded to in S4 when Julia and Anna were talking about Anna having to put her life back together after her fiance was killed. Julia said that we think there is only one path, one future but there are multiple roads our lives can take. This episode applied that to William and Julia. And the new century, of course.
I thought it was fun to see Higgins and Whorsley esp in tuxes dancing! I think I do finally see some chemistry between George and Emily. Her kiss on George's cheek was cute. I wonder how long it will take for George to find out that Emily is actually from a working class background herself.
It was a pretty shocking difference between the two dresses Julia would wear for New Year's. I'm thinking the Lamott's party would have been very conservative, older people. She would have been very popular with the policemen in that red dress if she wasn't so cozy with William! LOL

Julia's dress was symbolic. The drab one for Darcy was representing how she was repressing herself and her feelings. The red dress was Julia letting her real self out, including her passionate side.
I can't say I felt any chemistry between George and Emily, I still think it's sorely lacking. But the finale did at least try to make them believable which was an improvement. If they continue to do that in S6 I will accept them as a romance but I will never be a fan as they are just a rehash of W/J, which seems pointless to me. And they really don't have chemistry as actors. Oh well I will just have to put up with them so long as the show doesn't try to make them the central romance, that is W/J's role and couple or not that should continue.

It was certainly symbolic but I think there was a practical reason, as well. I don't think she could have worn the red dress to a stuffy air like the Lamott's party would have been. I'm sure she had to be very buttoned up around Darcy's colleagues, etc... at the hospital ever since he'd been promoted. I wonder if they will try to make George and Emily the central romance, too. I hope not. But often when they get one couple happily together, they do switch the focus to a new couple. So we'll just have to see. The only thing that is really different about George and Emily is that Emily is from a working class background.

I hope they won't focus on George and Emily. I'd rather see George with Higgins or Brackenreid. I woudn't mind if they focused on George and Ruby though because Ruby is very funny and we could have some great moments between G/R and W/J when the 4 of them could be together but as Emily kissed George on the cheek on New year's day and George seemed tomhave enjoyed it, looks like they want them as an item. I certainly would not like to see them the focus of the show as a new love interest. I still hope that they keep what they started. I am sure we can still have William and Julia as focus. They just have to work together , sometimes agree and sometimes disagree and make up . We don't need to see a kiss in every episode but we need to see some great eye contact (Professionnal ones and flirty ones). They also need to carry on the great script between W/J and show how soulmates they are in their way of thinking and complemente each other to a T.

The show would be making a mistake trying to make G/E the central romance. The episodes in S5 they tried that were boring. You can't centre a show on a romance that has no chemistry and is a rip-off from the other couple. W/J have a spark it's the only reason having a central romance on MM even worked, as I often think crime dramas and love stories don't mix. There has to be a special love story for it to feel like it fits in the story arcs. G/E are not special and they felt a case of 'just give George a love interest' in S5 and I don't see that being so different in S6.
I liked that we didn't have George with a fulltime love interest and Brackenreid having one mostly offscreen. Two couples feels too much to me, it will take away from the storylines. If they are continuing G/E I hope it is very very slow burn and it doesn't get much coverage.

Yeah, I would much rather see Margaret and Thomas together more. Not a lot more, just a little. I agree that Emily and George do not feel special. And I do think it's because Emily is too much like a Julia knock off. She doesn't feel unique enough. And she's not as interesting as Julia. Ruby and George had more chemistry and I would much rather see them together more often. Ruby was more unique, too.

Hopefully, the writers and anyone involved in MM are reading that board! The show can still be great if they stay to what they did in the first place. Julia having another career is great and at least we are moving forward and not putting her back in the morgue where she does not want to be anymore. She is a very ambitious lady and I am sure she will be great at profiling. Look how super interesting her chat with William was about the super heroe thingie and he took it on board and also the scene about more than one future, the matter, and 2 William in the same space. That was an amazing professional scene. They are so so great when they talk business the both of them. We need to see tons of that in season 6 and carry on the sweet love when they finish work or when they have a little break from time to time.
