This is the telescope when I pulled it apart: That small thing at the bottom is the lens-cap on the eyepiece. The cylinder on the right is the sliding shield and the objective lens and barrel. I was able to clean out lots of dust (LOTS. It poured out all over my desk when I opened it!!) and grime and clean the lenses, too. Here's me being artsy: I see a future Prop Monkey in the making!

Ladies' Dressing Case & Writing Slope. Ca. 1880. My little red box. After a drop of oil, the key and lock work flawlessly. Writing slope and blotter. Inkwell. Storage-tray. Writing accessories. Bits and bobs. On the right is a button-hook. On the left is a file. The other hooks and hole-punchers are for needlework or crochet/embroidery, I think. They look similar to stuff my grandmother used to have. The central thing pops up like a stand. Quite handy. Will post (loads) more photos, soon.

(But no sewing stuff!)

(But no sewing stuff!) I want everything, including the sewing stuff! This is so cool, Shangas! I love the colour red, and the organization of the thing, and also that it stands up. Where did you find this?

Local flea-market. Here's what the box looked like after I gave it a bit of a sprucing up: Replaced the blotting-paper, and tried to repair the broken storage-compartment. I'll make a more permanent repair soon.

I have determined that there is good news, and bad news about my latest purchase. Good News: There's two secret compartments!! Bad News: They're broken. Good News: I intend to repair them and make them functional again

We shall see.
I have the wood. I have the tools. I have the glue. I have the design which I want to do the rebuild to.
Now I just gotta build it.

Empty. Lots of antique dust, though.

Well. I have all the necessary materials. Now starts the rebuild. Waiting with bated breath. I think this case is one of my favourites of your stuff. After the watches of course.
