I'm just looking forward to seeing William "wet" again! I don't care who saves who, as long as both are saved and come out of it all closer.
I think this season's "down time" has been marvellous - with all the communication from the cast (especially Yannick on Twitter) and CBC, giving us snippets and photos, keeping us all in the loop! I say WELL DONE, and Thank you all - the best show on TV (by far).
But then, I am probably a little biased

I agree that Julia's been rescued by William too much recently and she's perfectly capable of rescuing him for a change. I think it's possible she's actually a stronger swimmer than he is because she spent so much time at the rowing club with the country club boys. She's very athletic for a woman of those days and many people didn't know how to swim in those days, but we know that she can. Perhaps William cannot swim. He may have always had a fear of the water since he was child because his mother drowned, too. I wasn't bothered too much the Victoria Cross ep. because I do think he just got there in time and I did like Julia's gumption against the fake nurse. I was frustrated that she escaped down a hall that was a dead end. My thought was that the reason those doors were locked was because the patients at the asylum would probably be locked in to prevent them running off and causing harm to themselves or others. Julia probably forgot in the moment of crisis that that door was locked for that reason and once she realized it there wasn't another route to take from where they were. Anyway, I'd like to see her rescue him this time rather than the other way around. I agree that we don't know that Gillies was hanged; it's very possible he escaped again. Some wily criminals are capable of escaping from prison multiple times before they are finally caught for good. He's already proved himself to be one of those. I think if he escapes more than one more time though, that will be too much. I actually think it would be interesting if Julia sought him out to study his psychology. Although it sounds nuts, I could see her being fascinated by his personality and want to figure out what causes him to behave as he does. Similar to how Dr. Roberts wanted to study Harlan Orgill ("Jack the Ripper") in Snakes and Ladders. It would be a different way to have Gillies return and, of course, William would be angry that Julia was taking such a risk to be around him. I think I'm going to start a separate thread to share some ideas of things I'd like to see in S7 and for others to give their ideas, too.

who's to say william saves julia or julia saves william how about brackenreid saves both of them never understand the writers for not bringing sally pendrick back still haven't solved her escape from the crash also the killer in belly speaker harcore better then gillies returning again but that's just me never understood anna returning after being put in witness protection. will she come back again after the second time would be a good plot dies and leaves william a special package (now we could all quess at the package)

The writers can only bring back the characters with actors who are available and willing to come back. I would bet that the actress who played Sally Pendrick has been unable or not willing to return up to this point. I would also bet they have tried to get her to, just like Ruby. I am 99% sure they wanted her to return in S5 and S6 and she wasn't available to because she's too busy with other projects.

Especially the swimming bit; she'll probably be able to swim better than most.

Another dress for Julia! I can't say I'm overly fond of it, but I'm glad the wardrobe department has decided to pay attention to us.

I doubt he's been promoted, Drowning. Well, he's been acting detective before, that's basically substitute detective. So temporarily, when William's away, he fills in as acting detective. That shot looks to be from the bicycle race episode, so he's probably in his civilian clothes because thats an off-duty activity he's attending for fun. I wonder if William will compete in the race. It looks like he will from the bike in his hand in the photo with Julia. She may have come to cheer him on. I don't like that outfit either. The separate pieces are nice, but together they're too busy.
