So what can I say about this ep? Well, basically it was a fun romp around toronto and nfld. Lots of running, lots of fighting, lots of drinking. I think it was a good tribute to nfld, even if it's maybe a little stereotypical. I'm sure they don't mind the free advertising for the 'colony' as it's put in the show. It's sort of interesting that they didn't consider themselves part of Canada back then, kind of like Quebec nowadays. The parts where Jonny was showing his true accent were really funny...I did my best to follow, I think I did all right.
Speaking of funny there were a lot of funny bits in this one:
Henry’s ‘screech’ after drinking some rum, and george kissing the cod, obvious nods to tourists being ‘screeched in’. Loved it!
Murdoch and George inventing Scrabble. Of course. Henry’s face when Murdoch told him there were only 35 trillion combinations or so.
George’s ‘aunts’ and their profession was hilarious! Especially Murdoch’s reaction to it! And the explanation as to their names finally makes sense.
Doyle basically saying gtfo when he and Murdoch have to skeddadle awkward turtle style.
George getting defecated on like a second after landing.
The little side plot with Julia and Brackenreid was endearing. It was nice to see that Brax finally can let some things go and just let them play out the way they are meant to.
All in all, I enjoyed it way more than I was expecting! So kudos!
What a very very funny episode!!! I've only seen 3 episodes of RoD so I don't know much what is it about but it didn't impact my appreciation of this week's episode. For me it was truly a George centered one and Jonny was in fine form (kissing and hugging the Cod, dancing, drinking and all ). By the way I couldn't believe that George said "Bloody Hell"!!! Are him & Brackenreid slowly but surely switching personalities? (based on their attitude from last week's episode.) OMG the aunts!!!!!….I couldn't believe that is what they were doing but it was done in a very charming way I thought…It was nice to see more Higgins too always having to do the longest and most boring tasks but George gave him a great idea with this "scramble" thingy Finally Brackenreid asking Julia's help with his son was touching too see… Like Cosmic Cavalcade I didn't have much expectation for it and I enjoyed it way more than I thought so it was great!!! Overall a very entertaining and light episode that is a nice reprieve from the probably very tense one of next week. Great ride so far with season 7 and I'm very excited for next week!!!

I believe that George said it twice in this one ep...but I'm pretty sure it's also not the first time he's said that phrase. Things would get a bit scary if he starts morphing into Brax...but if he ends up having to fight for Emily, who knows? Anything could happen. :/
Yeah and Henry not giving credit to George...doesn't he realize that if he pretends to do a good job on these tedious tasks, that Murdoch will just ask him to do more of them?
Oh another random but funny bit was when they were in the station in NFLD and the inspector tells a constable to "try not to cry this time." Lol, what?
George is getting quite good at figuring clues. Poor Higgins getting the letters task. Good for him to have something real to do this week. It's been a while since that happened. George inventing Scrabble lol. I liked finally meeting his famous aunts. About time we met them. Though George failed to mention about them being prostitutes lol.
Julia once again showing she's a forward thinker. And a caring woman. Brackenreid is an idiot sometimes. Though he does love his sons. And I think Julia rubbed off on him a bit.
Not a great episode. Oh well, with 18 episodes this season some are going to be fillers. Though them skipping the romances was a bit jarring.
I enjoyed this episode. It was a mix of funny and frustrating.
I found the whole Brackenreid & Ogden thing rather surprising. Although I wasn't sure whether or not B'reid was just worried about his son being effeminate/campy, or full-on gay. I reckon either (although the latter rather than the former) would be quite a scandal in early-20th century society.
I very much enjoyed the case. I know bugger-all about Canadian history. That NFL was once not part of Canada was news to me.
I think they tried to put in a sort of nod to Indiana Jones in this episode. On a treasure-hunt and all that, and when they travel to NFL, they have the map, with the route marked out, with the train-noises and all that stuff - just like what they do in the Indiana Jones series.
The whole 'Scrabble/scramble' thing was kinda fun. And George is getting very perceptive these days.
The whole situation with his aunts was just hilarious and very very cute. Although, being raised by a bunch of prostitutes (right?, or am I reading too much into this?) was a bit of a shock for me... Correct me if I'm wrong here. George was just precious!
"Have you come to arrest her, Georgie? I thought she was your favourite!" "Don't be foolish! You're all my favourites, and I'll be arresting you all equally!" "Aaaahahahahahahhaha!!"
Brackenreid has always shown himself to be homophobic. He showed it again a couple of episodes ago. So of course he'd fear his son was gay. But I think Julia got him to see that even if his was, it's just part of who he is. Brackenreid wouldn't turn his back on him now even if he was. I hope so anyway after that ending.
