I'm hoping it'll give her more reason to visit the office. They'll have more opportunities to discuss cases, over dinner, in bed (you know they're gonna do that), etc. and she can be more involved in them. If it's too domestic, I can hear nonshippers everywhere squealing how the show got "off track" and "hijacked" into fan service scenes, though. I don't want too many scenes like that, just a hint that this is what they're doing to give her the reason to come to the station later. I would like to see a little smattering of domestic bliss though and how much more blissful for the nerds in love than to discuss a case in bed.

All I remember about Profiler is they changed actresses, and the second one wasn't as interesting so I stopped watching. Or do you mean Julia becomes some sort of professional profiler and gets an office? For that I think she would have to be hired by the Pinkertons first. It's not in the Toronto Constabulary officer structure or budget. Julia would keep her position at the asylum but become a 'consulting' profiler like Dr. Roberts. That was supposed to happen during Season 7. But...meh. Also, I don't think all William's cases should work out into psychological ones. I want there to be plenty of room for Detective Gadget to be doing his stuff.

They are 'gas fired' movies but well worth watching just to see what could be done with a husband and wife detecting team. And real noir era ones as well. I bet Shaftesbury did take a tour of these. If they haven't already I hope they do in the future. These movies were on here not that long ago and I didn't get to see all of them. Perhaps I should look them up and have a mini marathon. I'm not always into movies of this era but I really like the banter between N&N.

They wouldn't have to, even if it was just one every three or four episodes. She's helped out with cases almost the whole time the show has been on. William regularly passes his thoughts by her and she helps him work through them even when the cases aren't psychological.

I'm just wary of what the reaction might be. The "balance in the force" I was referring to in regard to Gemily goes both ways. While I want some peek into how William and Julia are getting along in bed at home, I don't want that "ruining the show" for nonshippers.

I love it when Julia psycholanalyzes and hypnotizes William, too. Never know what you might find in there. It's a huge sign of trust that William allows it, because he probably does have some "dark places" going on...

I generally like 'oldies' so I'll have to check that out! They are 'gas fired' movies but well worth watching just to see what could be done with a husband and wife detecting team. YouTube has lots of clips, and it looks like a few vids and other creative thingamajigs: www.youtube.com/results?search_query=nick+and+nora

I guess that's supposed to be code for nookie interuptus. I wonder if it's Meyers who tracks him down, or is it Clegg?

This was the first time I ever rewatched this ep all at once. I thought it was a very good ep that suffered from too much nitpicking in hindsight - especially compared to this season. I loved the noir look and feel: I hope they do another episode with a night train with luxury cars and a lot of steam! Now I wish they had done the orient express honeymoon in Europe... The music was epic. Has MM ever recycled the music from that ep? The constable bungling was annoying - I almost wish it was explained better. The number one wtf moment was after making all that fuss about keeping Gillies identity a secret from the train passengers, George and Henry had to walk Gillies through the passenger car to take him to the bathroom. D'oh! Julia taking a swig of alcohol from mysterious stranger: by now the question has been raised many times why Julia would ever do that once she's had a "lost time" experience because someone slipped her a mickey. Now she's on the Gillies Train, and she should be all the more on high alert! But that said, I think this ep got a bad rap simply because Gillies seemed to escape yet again. I enjoyed how moody it was, and I think it was generally well constructed. You could see William working his jaw in tension the whole time. I also liked Julia showing her bitter edge as she told the Fake Hostage Woman that it would be better if she didn't try to speak. Julia is the type who doesn't suffer fools lightly, and she has good intentions without being a "goody-goody". This is one of the moments when she just can't be bothered hiding how she really feels.

Agreed. I really didn't care for this episode the first time I saw it, and I think it was because I was annoyed that Gillies was running the entire show and they were bumbling the whole affair. However, once I rewatched it knowing Gillies was going to get away, I appreciated all the little things, and everyone's reaction to Gillies and how beautiful everyone's acting was. It's definitely improved with subsequent viewings, and it is an angsty, beautiful episode that deserves more love.

Totally haunting!

The moment I love best in this episode is when Julia tells Gillies she requested to get his brain for study after his death. The actor playing him does *such* a good job with it - you can see that Gillies is genuinely surprised, even taken aback, by this. It is, in fact, probably the most genuine moment we see from Gillies in any of his appearances. Brief, but powerful.
