Just for that I will tell you my REAL first reaction to the promo: OMG William gets shot/beaned and can't remember the wedding and/or Julia -THAT'S the writer's dodge!!! Is that why Georgina cried at the reading? Noooo- too cheesy. Anyway, not possible in view of the suffragette arc. That was almost the storyline in Revenge! xD But that show is 80% soap opera so I hope MM toes the line. Yep that storyline has been used a zillion times before: it's kind of being used on Castle now. Usually it happens BEFORE the wedding, but it's possible to deploy it after the wedding. It would be good for almost a season of driving William and Julia apart and then bringing them together again. But it's such a cheesyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy TV cliche, even AFTER the marriage! I actually held my breath the minute I thought of it. This actually was my FIRST thought when William was saving the President's life, but I didn't want to mention it here during the wedding festivities. But the more I thought about the upcoming eps, the more I realized the writers weren't going to do that. Whew. You realize, though, if this "Nick and Nora" thing doesn't work out, the writers are going to have to do something exciting...

I like the episodes where they work together and the marriage will give them more scope and reason to do this. It's Jilliam at their best, even during the wedding ceremony.

Being married won't give Julia a reason to show up and hang out and William's job. So what we might get is just a scattering of interspersed domestic scenes and an occasional visit to the office.

What's this Nick and Nora thing y'all keep talking about? I'm guessing they're some previous crime solving duo. And agreed about liking those episodes in particular. That's a major part of why I didn't like S5 a huge amount. Though I do really like invention convention.

Yes, a married crime-solving couple from old movies, starting with The Thin Man. (Noir it up!) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_and_Nora_CharlesThey could be kind of sexy.

They'll have more opportunities to discuss cases, over dinner, in bed (you know they're gonna do that), etc. and she can be more involved in them.

S5 kills me because some of the eps were really great, but yet I don't rewatch because they didn't contribute to the Jilliam arc. Some of the best gems of the series are in there, though - like the Pendrick Bullet!!!!

Unless they go the profiler route that is... All I remember about Profiler is they changed actresses, and the second one wasn't as interesting so I stopped watching. Or do you mean Julia becomes some sort of professional profiler and gets an office? For that I think she would have to be hired by the Pinkertons first. It's not in the Toronto Constabulary officer structure or budget.

I generally like 'oldies' so I'll have to check that out! They are 'gas fired' movies but well worth watching just to see what could be done with a husband and wife detecting team.

If it's too domestic, I can hear nonshippers everywhere squealing how the show got "off track" and "hijacked" into fan service scenes, though.
