I really hope that William's family (his half-brother and maybe his dad) attend the wedding. Perhaps William's brother joins the Toronto P.D., and becomes a police-detective? Keep it in the family and such. A reappearance of Jasper Linney is also on my wish list. However, I have a thing for that Mountie uniform so I wouldn't want home to give that up' I'd like to see Jasper Linney and more of the mounties in general. Also does Canada have something like the US cavalry? I saw something last week where people literally "called the calvary" to the rescue.

I would love an episode with William & Jasper working together again. Only this time being fully aware of their relation to each other. I think it might make things interesting.

Yes, I'd like to see Jasper again. And William's dad. The lack of family for most of the characters has been what's missing in recent seasons.

She could get caught up in some Hearst vs. Pulitzer yellow journalism scandal. (Was there a Canadian equivalent to these newspaper barons?) By the way, Edison got his start working as a newsboy on trains. He had the idea to telegraph the headline to the next station (clickbait!) so customers would be waiting to buy the paper when the train stopped.

would love to see a double wedding between George and Emily and William and Julia Also I would like a recovery of Thomas Brackenreid of his injury If William and Julia do get married use the same dress from William's fanasty I wish the writing would bring back William's fanasty of Julia

Especially when they cause William to miss what is actually happening. I vote against the double wedding, though! That would bring all the romantic arcs, and thus all the shipper fun, to a halt. Regarding the wedding dress: I'm hoping Julia will go for a more modern "art nouveau" style with beads. Now that I think of it, she might have especially good reason to be glad the bra gets invented in 1902~

Now that I think of it, she might have especially good reason to be glad the bra gets invented in 1902~ Yup, William's fantasies (and Julia's ) were fun. They'd have an excuse to bring them back this season if the wedding is delayed for whatever reason (and I would not be at all surprised if it did not happen until the end of the season). Being engaged, they could probably get away with a bit more 'familiarity' with one another but William would keep them on the straight and narrow (so to speak) so there could be a some 'living inside their heads'. Wouldn't favour a double wedding as they would be very different affairs. Julia is a widow. In 1902 in Toronto, the wedding dress of a woman marrying for the second time would usually have been off-white or a very pale shade of colour. Also, I imagine the ceremony and reception would have been a smaller, slightly more subdued event than a first wedding. As for George and Emily, I think they still have quite a lot to learn about one another yet. Originally I was thinking the 100th episode would be a great one for the wedding but now I've come around to thinking that the special episode (where they go back to William's life from the age of 9) that would be a good one for the 100th episode. The delay of the wedding could be about waiting until the Inspector is fully recovered enough to be William's best man. (I'm assuming they have not killed off the character.)

Oooh, I love this idea: anticipation of the wedding will create a lot of fantasy material. Also, thanks for the tip about the alternative wedding dress colors. I hope the fans get to see some early drawings. I still hope Julia gets to be a fashion plate.

Hello everyone. My first post here. I thought I should add my two cents to the topic.
I would love to see more gritty, clever and innovative mysteries with originality and uniqueness like they used to have. It was one of the things that distinguished MM from the soap operas all over tv. I hope William comes back in season 8 his usual self, full of vim, focused on fighting crime with his dedicated innovative mind and brilliant deductions that earned him recognition and respect in his day.
I want to see more of Dr Grace. I like the way she delivers her findings to William, rather convoluted and eccentric in her ways. William has warmed up to her and has found a comfort level with her. She looks good in the morgue. They should keep her focused on her job and stop messing with her character. She seems like a whacko scientist that revels in kinky experiments without being too extreme. The effort to pair her with Crabtree degrades both characters. I would like to see them both have their own private lives away from the cameras. If George must have a girlfriend to talk about occasionally, they should give him Edna Garrison, his first girlfriend from the first episode. She made him look and feel like a man. They really looked great together with their dog Violet. It was sweet to see George freshen up, wear perfume and buy flowers, rush from work after his shift to go take her out. He even had a few catchy lines to woo her. He looks more and more foolish when he is with Dr Grace and I really do hope they end the situation for good.
I’d like to see Dr Bajjali, the Egyptian again. Perhaps William can take a trip to Chichen Itza for a discovery expedition and spend some time with her to experience "the thrill of discovery". She has a soothing effect on him and he sure looks like he needs a break to rejuvenate himself. Just what the doctor ordered.
Others I’d like to see include Tesla, Graham Bell, the French detective and old Mrs Jenkins in Upstairs Downstairs. Yes, I know, old Mrs Jenkins…. I know they killed her in that episode but the old girl was hilarious. William seemed to have a lot of fun interviewing her. Perhaps they can bring her back as a different character who is trying to help to solve a mystery but she will not cooperate with Brackenried or go to the station house with him unless Murdoch comes to get her himself and she and William enjoy their cozy coach ride to and from the station house. Of course that would make Brackenreid jealous that William has pulling power over the lovely old lady.
They could do something on music or figure skating but I wouldn’t like full episodes on them. I still find the Opera one difficult to watch. Perhaps William could go to interview a wealthy entrepreneur to help with a case he is working on and he takes Anna with him. Whilst Anna is waiting for William to finish his meeting with the man, she finds a piano in the room and begins to play which surprises both the owner and William. Or perhaps William stumbles onto Anna doing her figure skating routine and quietly watches her without her knowledge.
I wonder if the Police department can work with the Fire department on a case. That fire engine in Blast of Silence was awesome. Generally, more mysteries, less on screen romance for me.

I agree with you about Emily and George. I love both characters separately, but not necessarily together. I believe the writers tried to force them together because they didn't have some place to go once they closed the William/Julia arc. Quite the dilemma. Dr. Grace originally struck me as a bit ghoulish. I really liked how her character developed in Staircase to Heaven. It would be cool to see her pushing more boundaries. I'm curious what you think MM has lost in the way of "grit" and "cleverness" over the years. While there is always some unevenness throughout the season, I think the episodes have become more polished over the years. The first season took a while to find its footing. If you dislike the Opera one, I really dislike the Theatre one. The only thing worse than writers writing about writers is actors doing a show about acting! (Also I'm sick to death of TV shows trying to remind everyone that Shakespeare taught us all how to be human, blah, blah, blah). Anyway I think MM has done an impressive job of growing their quality with their budget and audience: 7 years is a very slow slog, and at the end of the day I think we all got ripped off by those 13 episode seasons. They were half-seasons, really. One thing I've noticed is that ever since MM has been on CBC, they've had a really BIG season opener: the Yukon, the airplane, the "titanic". How will they top that for Season 8? While I hope the individual mysteries remain solid, I also like to see character development (and not just romance) and life-changing events of various sorts. If there is a life-changing event, I like to see the shadow in later episodes.
