Aw man...I've been trying to avoid the discussion ahead of the season I'm currently in! I just need to get my fanny moving in watching these shows. Darn work for getting in the way!

Aw man...I've been trying to avoid the discussion ahead of the season I'm currently in! I just need to get my fanny moving in watching these shows. Darn work for getting in the way! The weekend is coming up. Binge time! You could make kettle corn, mix some drinks, and make it a party! *1 minute passes* Actually, I shouldn't push you. It's a real bummer having seen ALL the episodes 5 times, while the new season is MONTHS away.

Haha, I do have a nice system worked out where I watch as many as I can, but then get to re-watch them with my dad. So I'll have seen them all twice by the time I work my way to the end of the series anyways.

He just ended Season 4, and I'm currently about four episodes into Season 5. And yes, he knows about my thing for George I think the Inspector may be his favorite character though.

Susannah helped us figure out his age in Voices. She said it had been 20 years since she last saw William when she was 14 and William was 17. That made William 37+ at the time. 3 full seasons have gone by and assuming each season is at least a year long that will make William 41 next birthday.
I have always thought Julia was 3-4 years older than William. She looks older than him. It would explain the age gap between her and Ruby. I think Ruby is about 30ish. Julia seems like she was an only child for a long time and her parents fussed over her then Ruby came along and the focus switched from her. She didn’t seem too pleased to see Ruby when we first met her in Houdini and Ruby commented on it but they do get along reasonably well. I just put that down to sisterly resentment but Julia mentioned it again when her father died that he actually preferred Ruby to her.

She would be mortified. But in truth, a lot depend on the kindness of the camera people. Yannick Bisson has also looked absolutely haggard in some shots, but back to a boyish imp a few shots later. Not sure whether a lot skin creams, kale shakes, or blurred lighting filters were involved but I do implore the MM camera folk to keep our heroes looking pretty as long as possible. If I wanted "realism", I'd be watching Real Housewives get drunk on American TV. MM is fantasy: keep them pretty, please. Regarding Ruby: as an older sister, I totally get it. The younger ones get coddled, and their sense of entitlement can get super annoying later on in life. XD

You think Julia looks older? Nooooooo. In reality there is a 5 year difference in age between Yannick and Helene. She's younger. I find that the way her hair is done can make Julia look older or younger, as well as how blonde it is. From experience I know that being an older sister can be very burdensome, especially when the younger sibling is the same sex and even more so if the little brat is precocious too . Thankfully Julia and Ruby are finding their way as adults. I loved how Ruby was so concerned about William and Julia's feelings for each other right before the wedding. I think she did everything she could, short of declaring a reason "why these two people should not be joined in marriage" at the wedding.

Hmmm, I never noticed that much of difference between Julia and William's ages. I guess I always assumed they were either the same age or very close. I never thought she looked older. In fact, part of the reason I have trouble guessing at their ages is because they all look so good! ziggy's assessment of the ages based on the episode "Voices" makes sense though.
As far as sisters go, I'm an oldest child with one younger sister, much like Julia and Ruby. At first, I didn't like Ruby...she was too much the perky, annoying younger sister. But after her discussion with George, when she begins to take her career seriously, she started to grow on me. My dad is a George/Ruby shipper (he hasn't met Emily yet), but I don't know if I ever liked her that much.

Ruby is so outrageous that she makes me laugh. I love how she can get under the unflappable Julia's skin. Much as I adore George, he is simply no match for Ruby. She is upper crust all the way, educated, well traveled and rather racy. Ruby still has some maturing to do before she settles down. If the writers were to work that arc poor George's heart would be left in shards. Besides, it can't happen because the actress is too busy with other projects for regular appearances. She didn't make it home for either Julia's trial or their father's funeral!

I definitely didn't see anything permanent in the George/Ruby relationship. But it was sweet how he was one of the first people to treat her as an actual, valuable person rather than the sideshow novelty of a career-woman. Yet another reason to love the man

Much as I adore George, he is simply no match for Ruby I agree, George isn't in Ruby's league. I ship George and that wannabe detective telegraph operator from Dial M for Murdoch. Station House number 4 needs to import someone new for Emily.
