The downside about a forum hosted by CBC or any network is that it can be heavily censored. My first fandom, Red Cap, had a forum on BBC America with great discussions, but after a while we noticed a lot of them disappearing-namely those from British posters telling us about edits made to the show, and what those missing scenes were. We then formed a Yahoo! group, and soon after that, we moved to LJ. I just don't know what happened to LJ-was it when the Russians bought it that everyone decamped? I think there was a big spam problem on LJ. But also the Russians started paywalling a lot of stuff. Mostly people just moved to FB, and it's too much work keeping up multiple social networks. Fans should definitely control any chat space, but I think the information providing should happen on a CBC-controlled space. For instance, announcements could occur on the CBC official blog - and then fans take it from there into their spaces. But they also have the option to leave "official" comments as well.

CBC should tighten up a timeline and stick to it, after all Maureen Jennings works with them and she should be able to give them the essentials. As far as I can see, a lot of the confusion comes from comparisons between the books, the movies, and the TV show I cannot always tell whenyou guys are kidding although I did have a wonderful vision of Murdoch dressed like Clint Eastwood holding the bad guy at gunpoint and lecturing him on the logical inconsistencies present in his criminal activity. I thought it was funny. After 8 years the MM show "Bible" does get unwieldy: they are so meticulous in other details that I'm sure they do keep it up, but they get new writers every season, and there probably isn't much time to get them up to speed on every detail of the history of the show. I hope they aren't being lazy and just relying on the fan wiki. What they should be doing is hosting the wiki, maintaining a lot of the content themselves, and checking for accuracy. The TV show should just assume its own timeline at this point: the TV William Murdoch has almost nothing to do with the book William Murdoch. I love your image of William as gunfighter. Thanks. I saw this great picture of WM holding a gun saying something like, "Stop you scoundrel. Are you feeling fortuitous?" It makes me giggle every time I think of it.

I think the show does maintain it's own timeline now unfortunately the fans seem to keep intermingling the two. It gets very confusing as they really are so unrelated, the show is now so far beyond the books. I try not to combine the two unless a book storyline appears in the show but even then they change it. I don't think the show relies on the fan wiki, it's too different from the show to have been used, it's all over the place, to the point I wonder where they got their dates from as they're different from the books too.

It gets confusing since Maureen Jennings is a consultant to the show, and people go back to the books to try to figure out dates. Also when characters from the books appear on the show, then the books seem more canon-esque.

I didn't catch anything spoilery, but it was hard to hear them. Thanks for posting this! Interesting to see the actors at work.

I wonder if the new curvier look is deliberate.

I wonder if the new curvier look is deliberate. I think it's a softer Julia. Plus, she's a little bit older, and more comfortable in her skin. She's not having to dress conservatively or decidedly unfeminine to fit into into a man's world, and she's not the arm candy for a wealthy doctor anymore, so no more prim and prissy. She's a well-loved woman, and finally able to be comfortable in her own skin. Plus, I think this is an evening dress, which might explain some it's heaviness. Still, I hope her other dresses follow this style as well. We've already seen Gibson Girl Emily, and while maybe a bit young for Julia, hopefully something similar.

I love the Age of Chrome design! I wonder if it's to get William's mind off skyscrapers...?
