You know, the thing about George's excellent wrapping skills? I don't think that was a goof. I believe right after he said it in S6(?) he asked Murdoch not to tell the lads about it, so therefore he wouldn't want them to see his skillz. I don't believe any of the "goofs" in Glory Days was actually a goof. Even Mrs. Kitchen's cooking. That one is just too blatant a matter of canon. The thing is I just can't figure out whether it's the writer's trolling the fans or whether it's meant to rub in how much William was deluding himself about bringing Julia back to live at the Boarding House. The way William spoke of Mrs. Kitchen's cooking sounded so wrong for him, I think he was trying to convince himself that things would be fine and Julia would like living at Mrs. K's.

Yes, and I wonder what he thought when Mrs. K then catered his bachelor party.

Probably a bit of both. It seemed like Yannick said it a bit smugly as if he knew how annoyed everyone was gonna be. And George's rxn shows that at least HE didn't think her cooking had improved. The main writer for this ep was a newbie I think, since only last year. But Mitchell co-wrote it so he would have known better, I think... The hat thing was so obvious too so you're probably right about them doing it on purpose as well.

Actually, it'll be the "quite the opposite actually."So she will be the one doing the tie straightening tonight...? No, if you look at the last line, he removes the tie. Tie off= Freaky William. The beast unleashed.

Talking of ties, when did we first start talking about the tie twiddling? I was just wondering if GD was made before we talked about it or if someone could have been here and read it. I think tie twiddling is old discussion here, but it's also an old trope: the MM actors could think of it on their own but fan interest might increase the likelihood of them resorting to it. Fan service or not, I'm really glad they've made certain tie moves...re: the "manning up" one, hahahaha. I'm pretty sure that it was one of the first things I noticed when I started getting into the show, and that was June. So, it's close. But, I just think it's one of those tropes that's highly symbolic and loads of fun!

After 15 years, he's probably gotten used to the cooking. But yeah, I really don't know if it was a troll, or if it was a goof.

Tonight, boys, we ride! We have to get to Wal-mart before the sale on tea and crumpets ends! You're NEVER gonna let that one go, are you? Never! Actually not so much because of the slur on MM, but because I thought it was a traitorous move on Canadian TV after such an obvious effort by so many people to push "Canadian TV" over any particular show over the past few months! And to throw the LEAD IN show for the show she was trying to promote under the bus! If I have a chance to rub in the height of her folly, I will!

I'm almost sure I remember Brian Laufman pointing out the hat magically reappearing on William's head when this was still a picture on twitter. How did he know? Hmmm. Maybe I'm remembering this wrong, but I do think someone commented on the stunt "mistake". Early troll? Maureen Jennings is always available to consult, so I don't think it's possible to get Mrs. Kitchen's cooking canon wrong. George had to order the catering for the Bachelor Party - he must have been going from the comments William made about Mrs. K's cooking earlier! I will have to rewatch the Bachelor Party scene again to get his reaction from taking a taste. I think that may be the key to the mystery, hahaha.

Yep, I think it was all on purpose, too. And is Brian Laufman part of the crew? Why does he know these things? I always thought he was just an extremely enthusiastic fan! He's the one that posted that peanuts cartoon about the marriage being the Lucy football. I have a vague memory of him actually REFERRING to the hat magically returning to William's head. Murdoch Mysteries - it's all about the style, I tell you!

That probably means the pause on the barn wall for too long that lovemondays didn't like was totally intentional, too! Bat Masterson led them into a Bad Spaghetti Western, complete with all the cheap editing errors!!! hahahahaha
