I have to critique this Mini-fic even if it is based on the given image. Julia is wearing far too many clothes. IMHO you should subtract a few layers but keep the tie! No, that's Wiiliam's job to remove the layers. She's just Detective Murdoch, reporting for service. Are you sure William is up to the politics of the job?

Didn't seem to have qualms other than she was a prostitute and he a cop. Didn't notice any virgin theory but we know from the books, and the movies were pretty close in most ways, that he had saved himself for marriage with Liza, not surprised from her photo!! The only sex was in a dream and that was with Dr. Ogden on the morgue table. Wasn't Dr. Ogden even younger in the movies (and older in the books)? Was anything holding him back from dating her in the the movies? I'm treating the books as a separate universe. That William Murdoch wasn't such a cutie! It was kind of like the beginning of the show's W/J, tentative at first. She wasn't even in the last movie, she was supposed to be in England for 6 months and a male friend from England was filling in for her in Toronto. Murdoch wasn't happy about that but it gave Ettie an opening.

I'm sure he'll rise to the occasion. After that "manning up" tie straightening move... Talking of ties, when did we first start talking about the tie twiddling? I was just wondering if GD was made before we talked about it or if someone could have been here and read it.

I think tie twiddling is old discussion here, but it's also an old trope: the MM actors could think of it on their own but fan interest might increase the likelihood of them resorting to it. Fan service or not, I'm really glad they've made certain tie moves...re: the "manning up" one, hahahaha.

My impressions of this episode, the opinions and views of others sight-unseen...
Honestly...I felt it was rather bland.
I felt no real excitement. I felt no connection to Bat Masterson. Some parts of the episode were just so predictable. I can't honestly say I liked it very much at all.
I hope for our sake that the wedding episode makes up for it.

You know, the thing about George's excellent wrapping skills? I don't think that was a goof. I believe right after he said it in S6(?) he asked Murdoch not to tell the lads about it, so therefore he wouldn't want them to see his skillz.

I have a feeling you won't be bowled over by the wedding episode either, because, let's face it, you're not a shipper! This episode was split between the Bat Masterson stuff and the Bachelor Party Awkwardness stuff. William/Julia shippiness hijacked this and will certainly be the centerpiece of the next episode. Then you can probably breathe a sigh of relief when the show gets back to business as usual. Thanks for providing the non-shipper's perspective on it! It's good to have, because I think everyone needs to be reminded there is a broader audience, and MM needs that audience to remain on the air. It was a great episode from the shipper perspective though, lol! Btw, how did you feel about "terminator Murdoch" and the magic hat? I feel it's good art within the terms set by the Murdoch universe, but others are nitpicking about it.

I don't believe any of the "goofs" in Glory Days was actually a goof. Even Mrs. Kitchen's cooking. That one is just too blatant a matter of canon. The thing is I just can't figure out whether it's the writer's trolling the fans or whether it's meant to rub in how much William was deluding himself about bringing Julia back to live at the Boarding House.
