I agree this is the black horse episode. You have made my point better than I did. William vs Bat Masterson, law and order vs jungle justice. The point is William's way is what is called for. The kicker that has been hinted at is whether or not William's way is still as rigid as it used to be. The good news is this episode might be enough to veer William away from "jungle justice". Can't wait to see William ride up on a black horse! and sweep Julia up on it. I don't think William was every going full on towards jungle justice. I see it more as William developing a sense that there are gray areas the blind justice sometimes fails to appreciate or take into account. Where's that book cover you did? Giddyup . There's a white Ford Mustang in the GTA that has the license plate GIDDYUP. LOL.

It seems to me that the press drives fear and fear drives politics particularly in the U.S. Our regular police forces aren't equipped with the high intensity stuff but the special response units sure are. Thank God because in the last year we've had a mentally ill teen shot by police on a streetcar and an elderly woman tasered. I shudder to think what could happen if the hyped up rank and file carried Uzi's or AK47's. The mistake in the US is Homeland Security started selling the police left over military equipment. There were actually fairs touring to exhibit the opportunities for enhanced gear to various police departments around the country. There was a fuss recently when our local mayor canceled the fair because it was seen as a business thing that brought in money. Then people blinked and looked around at the reality of police violence and all the protests going on and realized this was probably a sound decision. Anyway: timely topic to be covered by MM. I wonder if they will bring it up more this season. They seem to do a pretty good job at referencing current issues. I actually think they are brilliant the way they do that. If it's not in this season then it will be in S9 for sure.

His comment was: "Don't even think about messing around in Canada!". My reply: "I find this rather disturbing. Why does the OPP need a vehicle like this?" Have to admit he went down in my estimation with this however I've got over it.

Why would the Ontario Provincial Police need a vehicle such as this? Are they going to use it to break down the door if someone's holding hostages? I really question what the use of this vehicle is except to bully the people of Ontario. On that note the new motto of the police should be changed from Serve and Protect to Bully and Control.

Yannick might have been being sarcastic. But it's hard to get a grip on his political views. He's been in a lot of downright conservative shows, which had, frankly, always made me assume he had to be a dick in person. But from other casual remarks I've seen from him (one of the reasons I like to stalk his Twitter feed), he seems quite thoughtful and about doing the right thing for people.

Yannick is a car guy, the faster the better I think, however I can see how he'd think the armoured vehicle was great, kind of a guy thing. I just think it's downright scary that they think they would need a vehicle like this. Perhaps I wouldn't be as bothered if I didn't live in Ontario and may one day see this in action. I think he has pretty liberal views. The shows he's been in were work, he seems to keep that separate from his private life.

So it seems this episode is probably not about William's past. I just read Maureen Jennings novel "Shipwreck"about a case William solves as a boy in Nova Scotia. It was mentioned at Fan Fest. For those of you who find Maureen's other books too dark, this is for you. It is very short, only 78 pages long, and I think it is really aimed at young adults. Has anyone else read it ? Christina Jennings implied there would be an episode based on it. If not this, then which one, I wonder.

According to his daughter, he is also a ski guy, which scares the frak out of me. Murdoch Mysteries could be abruptly ended by some terrible accident. No one who skis ever thinks it's going to end badly, but unpredictable things happen. Some guy just got the kabosh from trying to film his own exploits with a GoPro cam.

Mountain biking can be pretty hairy too. I think he's a bit of an adrenalin junky.

Am I imagining that at some point somebody talked about seeing casting for MM, and there was someone playing William as a boy?
