Title as per IMDB. Makes sense after all the waterfront activities shown in the previews. William could have been a contender! for Julia's hand in marriage.

Let's assume that the second episode will be part #2, but better wait until it is on IMDb

I see a Crown Prosecutor listed in this episode. I think they may have started the season several months later, like they always do, and this episode is some sort of flashback narrative to what actually happened to the Inspector as the prosecution unravels in the courtroom. Interesting. And it will help them get further into 1902 which is their focus year for this season.

I'm not going to give away any spoilers here but On the Waterfront 1 was excellent! I have to say IMO though as a couple of people were disappointed, can't figure out why. It was well worth the wait and I LOVE the darker tone. Can't wait for next week.

It was well worth the wait and I LOVE the darker tone. Can't wait for next week. I'm already spoiled as I've been reading the Twitter feed. But I will enjoy the differences between what I imagine will happen from the comments and what actually happens. Someone made a joke about sipping absinthe as a garnish for the premiere...which I am indeed doing since I had plenty left over from my birthday.

Oh, and Julia and William still haven't set a date? Did I see a tweet about house hunting?

Haha, well, that was an episode. It was so refreshing to look into Murdoch's sympathetic brown eyes again, after so many months. Anyways, this is my spoiler warning. I shouldn't have to put one up- this is a thread about the episode, after all,- but I happen to be a very considerate person. Self-flattery aside..... SPOILERS. This episode definitely sported a darker tone, and I can't say that I didn't like it; I like humor, but some of the episodes last season were positively campy, and I'd like to get away from that. I don't want the whole series to be gritty, as the lightness of the show is important, but there's nothing wrong with having a few healthy dark spots. I mean, most people tend to like MM because it's a mystery show without too much gore, violence, and bad language, and it's been toeing the line recently. All of our actors were excellent, and I was particularly glad to see Arwen Humphry again- wouldn't more development toward her character and Brackenreid's relationship be amazing? I'd trade all the Crabtree and Grace scenes in the world for more Mr. & Mrs. Brackenreid and their boys, to be honest. That said, I am definitely thawing on the Emily front. As long as they give her storylines other than her fling with George, I might even like her by the end of this. Who knows? Oh, and Julia and William still haven't set a date? I was crossing my fingers for a early wedding, perhaps within the first five episodes, but I suppose not. I don't mind conflict, as it drives the story, but if there's any more of the will they/won't they crap, I'm staging an intervention. There's plenty of discord to be had within the marriage, and I'd like them to look into adopting a child. I'd love to see that whole process, and I fear that this or next season will be the last- so they'd better get moving. Haha, Julia and Emily getting arrested was hilarious! I can't wait to see William and George's reactions. I hope there's more suffragette action as the season rolls along, as that is an interesting topic. In terms of Julia's involvement, I don't want her to be sort of unnecessary in the show (like in season six) but I also don't want her hanging around the station all the time, as if she hasn't a job or anything to do away from her fiancé. I like it best when they showcase William and Julia's lives together, their lives apart, and everything in between. We need a balance, I think, even when they're married. That's why, though I'm not overly fond of Emily, I like her and Julia's friendship- it adds flavour to the show. That's it for tonight! I might post more tomorrow, before class, if I'm at least partially conscious. XD Well said! I loved it. This ensemble cast is fantastic!! Thank God the wait is over. Definitely a darker vibe. I read Yannick saying in 'The Toronto Star' that much of this season's focus will be on the waterfront. The writers were very clever with the way they handled Brax's situation. The flashback scenario was not a surprise but I hadn't anticipated their focus on his emotional damage. It's a nice spin that will continue to bring Margaret into the picture. Pretty crafty too about the wedding date, or not, but I'm a bit annoyed. William said the wedding would happen "soon" but it is clear that several months have already passed, a la Brax recovery, yet the wedding date is still "soon". Hmph. Again, I'm not surprised but hmph. I LOVED Julia's new wardrobe! We'll have to see how the writers juxtapose the darker tensions of society's wider issues with W/J lighter side. For me the contrast was almost jarring. I love that playfulness. It was my favourite part of S7 and they've continued it but it came across as almost frivolous to me against the dramatic tension of the dock fight and the suffragette protest. As predicted, Julia is in jail, William is hurt and neither one can help the other. Excellent angst for snacky . Bring on Part 2. Can't wait for next week. To heck with Thanksgiving.

If you had friends like that, you would definitely have already staged an intervention. Yeah, I'm annoyed to hear that they haven't set a date yet either-I wasn't expecting the wedding to be next week, but it seems Julia and William have a very different interpretation of 'soon'. Of course, my new theory is that there won't be an on screen wedding, rather William will stroll in after an unexpected vacation wearing a ring, whistling, and in a veeeerrrryyy good mood.
