How so? I just googled it, and all I could find was the Embassy Suites concept by Marriott. Nothing wrong with it, but not exactly an ideal setting for the denouement to W/J's 'eternal courtship'. That's the name on the hotel on the set of Murdoch Takes Manhattan. Ooh, source? Me wanna see!

She's not going to hold it against him. If anything, it cam bring them closer together, and also give William insight on the plight of women at this time. I think that's a great way to give him perspective - engaging him more with the struggles of women and allowing that to shed light on his oppression has a Catholic.

I got confused because I thought the picture was of a government embassy, but it turned out to be the entrance to the "Park Embassy" hotel.

I think too much is being made over W/J not having set a date yet. They've only been engaged three months, and they're talking lovingly of being married. Julia's father only recently died, and Brackenreid was injured, that surely is why they delayed setting an actual date yet.

I think that people are just worried that, because there's no set date, we won't get to see the long-awaited wedding any time soon. I agree that it's not a huge issue, and I'm not concerned; I'm certain the wedding will happen this season. I'm more concerned about the adoption, though. I feel like the healthy place to end this series would be this season or the next, but I want to see the process of them adopting a child. I might have mentioned this in my precious post. I don't remember. XD I don't know that I'm worried-I know there will be a wedding this season, it's just that Snacky and I loooove angst, and William definitely brought it in this episode. He finally has the woman of his dreams wearing his ring, and now he's dragging his feet and worrying and doubting himself. That was an early Christmas gift for people like us! I'm fairly certain Julia will straighten it out with him next episode and we might even still get a wedding in episode 4. Or not. I'm willing to see where the wind will take us. But I'm pretty sure all will soon be resolved. The question is how. However, I still wish they hadn't ended with a cliffhanger on top of a cliffhanger-I think that left a lot of folks a bit frazzled. But, I still liked the episode, and I'll definitely be tuning in again next week.

I think the way that brought home William's lack of prospects is a good explanation for William dawdling, but I'm open to other suggestions. I wonder why Julia isn't getting more assertive about setting a date herself. Is there some rule that says the man has to do it?

I don't remember. XD For my part, I'm very pleased with this delay strategy, because I don't want to see the show end any time soon, and I'm worried that the wedding will hasten that end. I wish people would stop rushing it. There is no threat happening to William and Julia's love! We will get to the wedding eventually! Let's just be patient and enjoy how we get there, because once we do get there, that part of the show will be over, and it will never come again. I would like to see Julia attempt to pursue her infertility medically before trying to adopt. Since the show is partly about a new era of science, that would be a great place to take Julia's character. It would give her something to do and involve a lot of drama. The things she tries may not work, and they may end up adopting eventually, though. I am afraid that any adoption scene might turn sappy: I will just have to have faith in the writers and pray none of them were Little House on the Prairie fans. Many a TV show has jumped the shark from adopting a "spunky kid". I see an oncoming War of the Angels between Old Shippers who want to Have a Wedding Now and End the Show on Their High Note and New Shippers who would rather the show continue since they have only just been recently introduced to it, and are willing to have patience about the wedding if that helps the show continue, and they may even be able to conceive of other possible "arcs" to round off the show, even ones not necessarily defined by the romance.

I think the odds are highly in favor it being on the 100th episode, though I would personally prefer it to be delayed toward the end of the season (due to my theories of TV show longevity). I am super-loving the plausible reason for delay, though. Lots to speculate on, there! As FallenBelle said - early Christmas present.

I had to resort to sketchier means because I couldn't make the VPN work. Harumph.

I'm sure all the shippers that have waited since S1 are more than a little frustrated by now though. I REALLY don't want kids involved any more than they have to be i.e. like Brackenreid's kids, as it will ruin the show. They can have a kid, natural or adopted, but I want it to appear in the last two minutes of the last episode, preferably 10 seasons down the road, by which time they'll be too old for natural.

I'd prefer the delay but I understand the frustration of the people who have been waiting 8 Seasons. I can only imagine what a trauma Season 4 was. The show could have ended with Julia marrying Darcy! For fans who have watching for many years, a lot of suffering has gone into this ship. A wedding at episode 100 would be their just reward. However, this talk about how the show should "naturally end" this season or next is highly distressing to me. This is making MM a little too shipper-centric. This is a mystery show, and talk like that shows exactly why writers hesitate to do shipping fan service in the first place. Why should the shipper arc be the natural closure of the show, when it could theoretically continue to serve up good mysteries? If shipper arcs only serve to cut off a show just when it's getting good, I'd rather do away with the ship all together, and have the show rounded off by some other character arc - such as William's ascent to political power or some great downfall. There is no reason at all Murdoch Mysteries - which does not have ROMANCE in the title - has to be shaped around the shipper storyline. And if shippers not only demand that their wedding be now, now, now but the show itself be cut off right after it - I would say save the show by killing the ship. Send Julia off to with Stanley and Livingston to explore Africa, never to be heard from again! Let William tragically mourn, but let him continue to solve mysteries week after week.

I do think William and Julia have dawdled past the time involved for "respect for Brackenreid's injuries" though. You don't seem taken with the "decline in William's prospects" theory. What do you think is going on?
