Like why does Murdoch always insist on charging into dangerous situations without any backup (gun or constable)? For a smart person, he can be very dumb. Or are we supposed to assume his fear overrode his big brain? Cuz like, if he had brought someone else with him, or even handcuffs, Eva wouldn't have escaped...

She either should have already been gone or he should have been more prepared. But they obviously wanted them to kiss so they had her still be there. When Anna was in trouble he remembered to bring a gun...but that's the only instance I can think of where he wasn't a complete dumb dumb.

I don't like the idea or Eva getting out either….and the kissing ohhhh please!! I wonder if some of the writer(s) like to have the pretty actress coming back…..but it is starting to feel like Gillies and the show doesn't need recurring nemesis imo!!!!!

PS: Is this ok to talk more about the episode now? Sure why not? I've already ruined the ending for anyone silly enough to be reading this without having watched it first.

Lol there was a comment on twitter and it went something like this, "Why do all the serial killers insist on kissing Murdoch?" CBC replied, "Can you blame them?" Gillies was a pretty actress. Yes it's true. At least he thought so.

On a positive note, I did enjoy seeing CharMaGirl again. Even though it was sad she ended up institutionalized after all. And the church lady's (forgot her name) comment about 'taking his sweet time' was basically ad libbed by the fans at large. Ie. priceless. Julia being a BAMF who can handle her own shit was nice to see. (Except now she's almost died 2 eps in a row...and it was her own stubbornness that put her in this situation in the first place...) I was thrown for a loop with the mystery aspect. I thought Eva was writing the letters to the brother. I enjoy getting things wrong. And I thought it was so obvious that the guard was involved, that he couldn't possibly be the killer. Wrong again.

I rolled my eyes when they had those two children run in front of William and Julia. They're not even trying to be subtle in their foreshadowing.
But yeah, I was a little bit annoyed at Murdoch coming without a gun again. I get that he was in a panic about Julia (or whatever), but he clearly wasn't anxious enough to go right in after her, as he stopped to chase Eva. It didn't even seem to occur to him that she might be with the inmates! Surely, then, he would have had time to get backup, or at least a gun.
Also, what was up with Julia not even being suspicious towards being roofied? She knew there was dubious behavior from somewhere inside the asylum! I mean, I could have dealt with her naivety, if it weren't for the fact that Gillies drugged her in that very office two seasons ago, when he was getting the mold of her face for his Ogden mask. You'd think she'd be a little wary after that, but each to their own.
I was excited to see Charlotte/Girlie/Maddie again, as she was one of my favorite guest stars from (what was it? Season 3?). It took me a bit to remember who the other women were (except for Eva, obviously), as they didn't make a lasting impression on me.
For some reason, I really liked George's interaction with Mrs. Lynd. He was very gentle and understanding, when he could have been brusque and/or impatient- certainly he was more understanding than Brackenreid! Moments like this remind me that I don't like George solely for the comedy he provides.

I'm still recovering from this episode which is definitely for me at the same level as "Murdoch in Toyland" & "Friday the 13th, 1901" and how convenient that it is #13 The storyline was very tight and the visuals with these dark green and orange lights gave a suffocating atmosphere. All the actresses in the ward were absolutely fantastic, it was terrifying watching them and wondering what their next move will be (also Charlotte/Maddie/Girly has always been one of my favorite, the actress portraying "them" is wonderful). But I'm not so sure that I like the idea of Eva Pierce escaping again; how many times does she need to reappear? Yes the character is intriguing and beautiful but she's played that game with men many times, is it really necessary to potentially have her back in a future episode (just my opinion though). In all that intensity, thank you for the touch of humor in the Cedric's "escaping" scene with George, I needed the relief. And how great is it to see William & Julia really working together and her role as psychiatrist being put on the forefront; I really missed it and better late then never but I wish I could have seen scenes like these more consistently throughout the season rather than wait for episode #13; I'm still happy though this episode was fantastic!! But truly a big shout-out to Helene Joy for an extraordinary performance, the range of emotions she went through and the physical scenes (kudos to the stunts as well) especially with a broken wrist, this episode is hers just as much as "Shades of Grey", "Crime & Punishment" & "The Murdoch Trap" to name a few.

A hundred million times agree with the actress who plays CharMaGirl. Should really look up the talented lady's name. The way the ep ended was nearly identical to the one in S6. The explanation of course is that men are simple. Explains Murdoch's dumbness, yessirree! I think they even built a new set for this ep, so that was neat! Yes, Helene was flawless. But isn't she always?

I don't know how he's still alive, honestly. He's lucky he's the protagonist of a relatively popular television show. Yup. The moment I realized what was happening, I remembered how Gillies did the same (probably in her tea, too!), and I was like, "CONTINUITY? WHAT CONTINUITY??" For some reason, I'm cracking myself up thinking about how Julia explained the Rose situation to Murdoch in the first place. I mean, onscreen, he never found out about the island. "So, you never told me about that bachelorette party you and Doctor Grace attended." "Oh, it wasn't all that enjoyable." "Why ever not?" "There was an axe murderer. And beheadings. Emily and I were the only two to survive the massacre." "Good lord! I hope the perpetrator was arrested and taken far away from you and Doctor Grace." "....yes, about that...."

My stomach can't take this! As for the Gillies thing...I think he drugged her with the same thing he drugged Murdoch with. Murdoch didn't remember being drugged and only knew he had been because he was missing like 12 hours of time. Same thing for Julia, except it was 2 hours or so. I don't think they remembered what it felt like to go under, is my point.
