And that's my point. It's sloppy writing. She either should have already been gone or he should have been more prepared. But they obviously wanted them to kiss so they had her still be there. When Anna was in trouble he remembered to bring a gun...but that's the only instance I can think of where he wasn't a complete dumb dumb. Kinda like Mulder always dropping his gun. Lol, so a (presumably) highly trained FBI agent had continuous butterfingers. Yeah okay. Were things attacking him at least?

Also, Julia hit somebody twice. WITH HER BROKEN ARM. AND THERE WAS BARELY ANY REACTION. I'm going to go ahead and assume that the CBC just couldn't show all the curse words Julia let loose afterwards. Umm, obviously Murdoch designed a special shock absorbent cast for his dear wifey after being so stupid as to let her try on a murder weapon.

Julia slugging people with her cast reminds me of when I was growing up.... one of the kids I played with had a cast on his arm......he made a habit of clobbering other kids with it.....bloody lethal weapon. (This was also the kid who wasn't the greatest skater, so when we were playing hockey on the backyard rink my father made, as he fell, his hockey stick would do multiple revolutions around his head....surprised he didn't take anyone's eye out....)

FYI CharMaGirl is played by Anastasia Phillips. Can't say I've seen her in anything else.

Another dumb-dumb Murdoch moment this season! We should keep track. We should use a chart. I'm sure lovemondays already has a list of William's stupid moments and if she doesn't she probably will after this. She's got just about everything else charted!

Well this didn’t do anything for me. It was good to see “Dr. Ogden” again but not an episode of multiple reruns for me.
It was sad to see Charlotte in that environment, held captive, drugged and exposed to more trauma and abuse all these years. I loved the character the first time she came in S3. That episode is an all time favorite of mine because of her and the excellent piece of writing that allowed her to display her skills.
Eva Pearce really irritates me even more than Gillies. Ever since that Ladieswear episode, I never wanted to see her again. She seems to have connections because they keep bringing her back for no sensible reason. I thought I saw her in the Blast of Silence (the woman with the crying baby in the crowd watching the mayor). She’s escaped again to go kill somebody else and resurface at a later date.

What was that weapon Maddie had at the end? A pipe? Like, where did that come from? Julia's just not if not more stubborn than William and one day it's gonna catch up with them... The whole tea scene I was like, here we go. Nightie night. Remember ladies, don't drink stuff you didn't make yourself when you're in creepy places with a bunch of psycho's in the next room ready to kill you. But of course Eva escaped and of course she kissed Murdoch. And of course she's the next Gillies. Or maybe she'll be a sensible fugitive like Sally and get out of dodge fast...and never come back. I'm glad Eva escaped - I've been wanting a female mastermind. I haven't really been speculating it would be Eva, but I can see how it could be since it's already been proven that William has a weakness where intelligent women are concerned and he was subconsciously attracted to Eva. She started out as a sort of sociopath, but it wouldn't take much for the writers to heap on more IQ points and make her an intellectual match for William as well. Cool if she kissed William - especially if he was a little conflicted by it: that will make her a more powerful nemesis down the road. The writers can prevent Eva from being the new Gillies by: 1) Not making wacky-crazy. 2) Not sending her to jail a thousand times so she has to keep escaping. Hey, maybe she'll seduce Leslie. I still think he's going to return as some Evil Woman's dupe.

Like why does Murdoch always insist on charging into dangerous situations without any backup (gun or constable)? For a smart person, he can be very dumb. Or are we supposed to assume his fear overrode his big brain? Cuz like, if he had brought someone else with him, or even handcuffs, Eva wouldn't have escaped... I can see him thinking only of Julia. Also, perhaps he's come to expect the Magic Homburg will protect him. Ps. BTW, in Victoria Cross William knew karate or something...

William wasn't even "William" at that point - he was Harry "Jason Bourne" Action!Murdoch! Looking forward to watching this part to see if I can figure out if the writers were making sense or everyone is nitpicking here...

I don't like the idea or Eva getting out either….and the kissing ohhhh please!! I wonder if some of the writer(s) like to have the pretty actress coming back…..but it is starting to feel like Gillies and the show doesn't need recurring nemesis imo!!!!! IMHO, the show could use a recurring nemesis - it helps give the show a larger structure. And it needs that larger structure a lot more now that the romance cycle has effectively been completed. I've been hoping the nemesis would be a woman. I think it's appropriate because William does have a chivalrous nature and a respect for intelligent, accomplished women that has caused him to sympathize with guilty parties in the past. Moreover, the show has already demonstrated a subconscious sexual attraction to Eva whether shippers like it or not. And Eva knows how to exploit sexual attraction to the max! I think Eva is an improvement on Gillies.
