I think a Sally/Eva double team could be cool. Imagine a case where William has to choose one to trust: neither or both could be guilty. I LOVE that idea!! So much angst for William because he's going to get his head around his personal canon that both of them are manipulative criminal masterminds who get under his skin.

Regarding Meyers - is there room for a government conspiracy to claim a moon trip, a la Capricorn One? William could debunk the evidence later. If Meyers was accidentally launched, MM stole that plot from Jules Verve. =.= I get annoyed at shows randomly killing off potentially useful guest characters. The shock effect has worn down because too many shows have played the "shocking death" card. I think you need to watch the episode before trying to comment on it snacky. I finally got to watch it, and I believe this ep was more than a little inspired from the Jules Verne episode: 1) Dreamy inventor thinks he's working on a moon rocket, when he's actually working on a rocket that will bomb a major city for political conspiracy purposes ----Check. 2) Moon rocket science has Russian origins ----Check. 3) There are two rockets - one aimed at the moon, one aimed at a city ----Check. 4) Someone gets tied to the mouth of the rocket cannon ----Check. 5) Someone rather than the intended astronaut/cosmonaut gets into the rocket and accidentally launched to the moon ----Check. 6) Not sure whether The Girl is in on it or not ----Check. Of course, you could also say Jules Verne is invoked in both. In the first, Jules Verne is inspired by the moon rocket escapade. In the second, the moon rocket escapade is inspired by Jules Verne. Really, that's too much of a coincidence -- especially the person getting tied to the cannon. But I'm willing to call it a homage, the same way that Annoying Red Planet was a homage to The X-Files. How freaky is it that I watched those Jules Verne episodes the week before this? I seem to have a weird blessing/curse when it comes to MM...

A million years later I finally got to watch the episode. I absolutely loved it! I'm not even really sure what to say at this point except season 9 is amazing! Now excuse me while I go watch this episode 100 more times! This episode was a lot of fun (even if a little too much of it was snitched from The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne). The only part I didn't approve of is the suggested end of both Clegg and Meyers. I admit I lol'd at the fate of Meyer's though. One thing I thought was especially great about this episode was all the opportunities Yannick had for double-takes: he really is a master of the double-take. The best were when Pendrick rued his fatal flaw, when Pendrick suggested that William fly to Niagara Falls, and when Julia was teasing him in bed at the end of the episode. Love that humble William! I also love super-excited geeky William. Have we seen that kind of joy since he invented sprockets for his bike? I also love that William is soul-brother of Pendrick now: they both have forgiven a lot to embrace what the rare spirit they have in common. In speaking of embraces, I have to disagree with Murdochic: I think that hug was pretty slashy. CC made a good point about how they traveled via the Pendrick Bullet, too. I'm still on Team Jilliam, but this episode is a gift to those who have alternative ideas. Really approving of the marriage this season: I don't think there's been any overboard fan service: it's blending into the show as it should. lol at Clegg anticipating peak Climate Change and wanting to steal Canada for its water. That's a pretty sly dig, there. I also approve that message.

Nooooo Dr. Francis is coming back for William, I just know it I think CC would have trouble topping the original (featuring the gay priest)...but I look forward to the attempt! I could watch that gif all day. Slash gold.

For sure stick around and keep watching the show. They have many researchers and are pretty accurate in their depictions...give or take 5 yrs or so, I believe someone said once. If you ever doubt the veracity in a particular episode try watching the "Making of..." videos they put out after the episode airs. They often provide great background on why they went in a particular direction in the episode, etc. But it's strictly entertainment so enjoy the ride, they're driving the bus. (But we like to be backseat drivers). So I think the "stretching of veracity" is part of the fun of this show. Somehow they succeed in teaching us about history while only loosely following real history. I have seen it as a sort of tongue in cheek nod to everything. Because of the great (mostly) acting and the clever handling of multiple characters and plots with subplots this show is great fun. I hope they continue to stretch plausibility until when get the vote. I'm thinking the Russian moon rocket scientist was real - so how do we know that people weren't inspired by Verne and experimenting with rockets a few decades before WWII. The Kennedy assassination was over 40 years ago - does that seem like an "age" ago or part of the modern world? I totally agree that MM can stretch things a bit for the sake of fun. But real hardasses can imagine that the entire episode was William daydreaming while he was reading that book in bed. After all, it ends with Julia calling him a hero and wanting to get it on... Also, if it's all a Jungian dream, Meyers and Clegg are still alive.

I think you'd have to be changing their sexualities first. Unlike Emily, those are two people who are so straight. Perhaps they are so straight, they actually bent in opposite directions and met in the middle on the other side?

Snacky's reference to the Pendrick Arrow reminded me of something I meant to post. Some of you may have seen, or remembered, that Craig Grant did their first Periscope live broadcast in mid-June. Those are unfortunately not archived, and I can't find where they saved them to youtube (as they did with one or more of the August ones). In it Craig showed a new Arrow, saying it was rebuilt for an upcoming episode. I went back to my comments around June 18th in the season 9 thread, and sure enough I did mention it there so I wasn't dreaming. Unfortunately, my 49 year old brain doesn't remember if it was a one or 2 seater.
Now in the episode, when they are out searching for the alternate launch site, you see the Arrow in the background. BUT, around 25 minutes in, there are some slightly longer shots, and I swear I see twoo Arrows parked behind them. When they switch to the closer show I only see one. Thoughts?

When Craig Grant posted his pictures of Pendrick's lab on FB he mentioned that the wings for the Arrow were in there.

Yeah I said it correctly in my June comments, even if I'm messing up everywhere else

Have to admit I didn't see the Arrow wings until Craig mentioned them and I watched specifically for them.

I've just watched that scene again multiple times. I don't see a second Bullet in either the close or long shots. The Bullet has 3 wheels. What may be catching you is the battery cells mounted on the back end because they disrupt the otherwise sleek profile of the vehicle. I guess we're back to the lap question. CC--can you gif William's expressions when Pendrick shows him the gliding suits? The range of emotions Yannick portrays with just his face in those few seconds is brilliant, funny and perfectly in character. The scene is at minute 30 in the streamed version. Pleeeeese!
