William and Julia sure get horny when they're under the influence. That scene was a nice throwback to The Green Muse.
Rebecca will make a good doctor one day, she's got the intelligence of Julia and Emily. Higgins has been missing for 4 episodes, that a long absense.
Now we have to wait weeks for the next episode. Wahhhh

I always knew I was a dragon, but now I know the element too. Never knew they paired them up like that. Makes sense though. And cool, apparently Adele and I have the same sign. I suppose that means I just told you my age. Oh well... Fire dragon here, but I'm not sure what all that means. A super dragon perhaps? Still, not sure what a golden dragon is either. Wa, I want a cool one!

Now we have to wait weeks for the next episode. Wahhhh Only around 3 for the Christmas special, and then we get double the pleasure! That will be fun to watch and it will fill a gap, but it's not really part of the show timeline so we have to wait a while for the next proper episode.

What a great episode. Lots of good characters with intriguing backstories and everyone performed well I thought. One of the better mysteries they've had in a while - I was kept guessing until the last quarter of the show. Enjoying how Rebecca has been worked into the show and her byplay with Julia. Nice to see more female characters who are non European getting screen time. Oh, goody - earth monkey.

Best AWWWWWW moment... " nothing could make my reality any better than it already is". You guys are giving us a marriage this season!!!!! W/J are sweet, loving, working together and kinda sexy. I wonder though why W and J decided to try opium at Dr. Lawrence's house rather than their suite. I understand the need plotwise...Julia going on about the dragon...but really...they both knew where that experience was going to lead....
This summed up my sentiments to a T! Really liked this episode; the case was interesting and the ep had a nice vibe of then 'hip' orientalism. I was still a bit surprised to see W & J doing opium (especially when they had no way of knowing it was safe) - but this made the episode even better because it showed how normal using opium and other now banned drugs were at the time. And I had to look up my sign: - I'm a Wood Rabbit apparently.

Dare I ask where that hilarious deleted scene came from? Michelle posted it on twitter. If this season has taught me anything, it's that there are a lot of cut scenes. I don't suppose they put them in the DVD extras, do they? Well, I suppose that depends on if these 'deleted' parts are actually filmed or not... This is the sort of thing they should be including as extras on DVDs. I purchase access digitally to seasons as they become available, and not only would physical media just be another thing to keep track of, it doesn't really offer an incentive for it over digital media. I understand things having to hit the floor for time reasons, it's just the reality of things, but I wish they would make these scenes available as extras. These things should be included on dvd's.

This show is the only reason I would do such a thing either. It's the reason I have a twitter account. Same here.

Waiting until hubby gets home for 2nd viewing (I'm home sick) but I think I liked it well enough-the nod to the orientalism of the era was good, and while I was pretty sure who did it, I wasn't sure of the motive. I laughed when William said he wasn't hungry too-she soooooo wasn't talking about food. But, yes, he did seem to be enjoying himself before he cockblocked himself. This ep is second-viewing worthy! It looked to me like William was well on his way to undoing the cockblock himself before the 5-clawed dragon got between them! Watched it again and enjoyed it even more. I quite enjoyed the racial undertones of the day and the Orientalism.

Fire dragon here, but I'm not sure what all that means. A super dragon perhaps? Still, not sure what a golden dragon is either. A redundant dragon more like. It probably means you're supposed to be volatile/fierce. Whereas I'm supposed to be grounded/stabilized. So you're Brax and I'm Murdoch. There's the 4 elements + metal (gold). But yeah, not sure what that one is supposed to mean. Luck? Yeah, when I did a cursory search for golden dragons, I basically just got a list of Chinese restaurants. I suppose I might find out more with some diligent research, but I just can't be bothered right now.
