I hope they don't bring Gillies back in another episode and that this will be the last we hear of him. I look forward to the rest of this season.

Actually, I think it would be great if they bring back Gillies for exactly one more episode - for the purpose of actually killing him off! While I think the actor is quite good, I think that he and his attacks need to be strictly in the rear view window.

Now that's what I call overkill Barb. You're a little scary sometimes. Oh come on, you know you like it Yeah...I just like messing with you. I would have been scarier myself. ;D

Lol! Or maybe flattened by a train!
It wasn't too overkill, he's despicable, and I hate him with a burning passion! I do have a friend that likes him as a character and thinks that he's really interesting, though.. sometimes she scares me a little. xD

Well, personally for me it's more, he was interesting as a character but now he's got to go!

They need to bring him back for Julia/William to get their revenge, kill him off, and let that be the last of him. Great actor but enough already with Gillies.
Oh and I just remember another fav line from MA. When they discovered the first bomb and Brackenreid asked which wire he had to cut and William just yanks them all out.....Classic!!!!

Isn't gillies coming back? I thought this was already confirmed. It is most probable indeed but on this thread we talk only about the first episode and so far his name has only be mentioned. I'm sure you'll find the info on the season 7 thread which contains spoilers.

I just finished watching a documentary the CBC aired a couple of weeks ago about the ship used in this episode, the SS Keewatin, which is the last surviving luxury steamship on the Great Lakes. She was built on the Clyde in Scotland in 1907, sailed across the Atlantic to Quebec City, then, because she was too long to go through the locks on the St Lawrence River at the time, she was split into 2. She'd been purposely built that way.....she put into Buffalo to be riveted back together and sailed to Port McNicol, Ont, on Georgian Bay (Lake Huron), where she and her sister ship, SS Assiniboia sailed for Canadian Pacific to Fort William/Port Arthur (present day Thunder Bay). She was retired from service in the 1960s and ended up in Michigan. In 2012, she was brought home to Port McNicol, and this documentary covers that story. It was very moving and emotional. I really want to get up there and see her one of these summers.......here is the ship's official site: www.sskeewatin.com/Cheers

Finally on to season 7! Crazy that we are less than a month away to season 9 now!
1. Season 7 is why I get annoyed with Gillies. From the start they are dragging things on because he won't die and his character just gets so over used throughout the entire season.
2. I love how unexcited Henry is about the wireless telegraph. George is so annoyed that he is so unimpressed.
3. William gave up the fight of trying to get Julia to go to the lifeboats so easily. He must have realized that was a 100% guaranteed lost battle.
4. I was very happy that Julia was the one to save William rather than the other way around. Not to mention the "I've lost my hat" line is by far one of my favorites!
5. Overall this is absolutely one of my favorite later episodes. I think the mystery was somewhat pasted on top of the idea of showing off their fancy season 7 production, but it is certainly still great!

I was very happy that Julia was the one to save William rather than the other way around. Not to mention the "I've lost my hat" line is by far one of my favorites! This goes with William's lack of over-the-top reaction to Julia at the nudist colony. At some point he decided this was one of the things he loved about Julia: that's why he doesn't argue. I think admiring powerful culture-challenging women was already an embedded character trait, though - look at his respect for Sally Pendrick and Ettie Weston. The line about the hat is one of my favorites, too. William also lost his hat in The Tesla Effect - Magic Homburg protective powers down!
